Cindy, you sound like me! I came home with a goat once. THought I was going to house train it Turned out our dog would end up sitting outside with it at night so that it wouldn't whine. We eventually had to return it since it started to jump the fence and we didn't want it to play "king of the mountain" on anyone's cars in the church parking lot! I look back and can't believe NO one in the church said ANYTHING to us about my pet goat!!

I am so happy!! We actually got EVERYTHING done for school by 12:30 and now I am getting chilli in the crock-pot for supper tonight. I wish everyday would go this smoothly!

I have a very angry little boy. His grammar is five sentences and he has to decide if it should say things like 'my family and I' or "I and my family" If he would just calm down he could do it but to listen to him it's the hardest thing in the world. Telling him that you always put hte other people first confuses him. He's outside doing stomping practice.

People in general have a problem with this concept, whether it's grammar, passing out dinner or waiting your turn at the four way stop.

That's true. Well, I figured out part of the problem. He thought "my" and "I" go last so he couldn't figure out in My family and I which went last.

LOL they probably thought it was cute. Goats are cute. That's the only reason we let them live. It sounds like your goat was behaving like . . . well, a goat. They are herd animals and are very unhappy alone, which is why your dog had to babysit. Don't even get me started on fencing. If water can get through a fence, so can a goat. However, they provide me with milk, meat, and entertainment, so I enjoy having them.

Yes, we not only had to have our dog babysit, but we had to put bars or some sort of baracade on our basement windows. If the goat saw us in there, he'd try and head butt his way in and I was afraid he would break the glass. He was very cute and I have pictures of him 'hanging' out with our children. BUT, I guess what I didn't realize when I brought him home is that WE would become his herd My dh would sometimes take him on a walk:) Or for a car ride. He was very fun to have, but we lived in a neighborhood... so we didn't have the ideal set up. WE also had ducks. The church said nothing about them either!! One of them would chase people and chase our black lab. There is nothing funnier than seeing a duck chase a lab!! and the lab is actually scared! He was a good watch duck:) He would just sit on our front step and quack everytime someone would come to our door. (and quack when people would come to church).

The vote last night was in favor of purchasing a building. We abstained from voting, and one other person said no. Our leaders sincerely thanked the person who said no and they hoped that person would still come and worship with us.

I figured they would have that reaction which is why I'm glad we abstained. I am committed-otherwise I wouldn't bother helping with dance so much.

While we were dancing one one person told our leader that she does not have to keep the dances the same. She can change them. Our leader said she wanted to keep them the same in case we ever danced together again.

I didn't say anything then, but I did email her to tell her that the people that left have started a new congregation. I told her what the name was and that they have already been meeting. Not to mention I know for a fact that at least two of the people (and more) have no intention of coming back.

I told her I was telling her that so she doesn't feel the pressure to keep them the same. If she wants to keep them the same, great-if she wants to rework some of them or come up with completely new ones that's fine too and she should not feel badly about it.

We have to move forward with dance and not let ourselves get hung up on what was, or what might happen.

We also heard last night that two months from now, the Liberated Wailing Wall will be giving a concert. It's great that they're coming, but that does not give us a lot of time to purchase music, come up with dances and teach them to everyone else.

I did email our rebbetizin (that means rabbi's wife) and ask her to please remember to ask LWW which songs they will be singing for us. I also told her the sooner she can get that information, the better.

Ellie, I just read your last few posts in the prayer thread. I didn't realize you were going through all that. I just want you to know that our family will be praying for you!

Oh, Ellie, I'm sorry.

Well, Schuy and her mom just left. It was really nice having them here for the day.

Brandon found all the Mr. Iced Tea parts while we were working on kitchen stuff and since then we've been making jugs of iced tea, lol. I just made a pitcher of blueberry-yum!

Yep, that's why it's important to know something about the animals you're getting before you get them. At least you had someplace to take him when his goatiness was no longer workable for your situation. Too many animals just get dumped when that happens. Drives me nuts, but I won't get on that soapbox right now.

Jen, did you really try to convince Schuy that Ashley's snake was a scaly kitten?

Wow, Lisa--praying for your situation.

What would the pill be for that you might have to take every day for the rest of your life?

I merely said it was LIKE a kitten...except with scales, lol, and the kids took it from there!

As you can see, I woke up nice and early today. I felt like I was coming down with a sore throat so I went to bed pretty early last night. I'm still not sure I'm not coming down with it but it isn't as bad as it was, if that makes any sense.

I've got the laundry started, and am showered and dressed (but no shoes...treating this nasty wart! ) Gonna have to make myself some breakfast soon, though.

Jenny ~ I have a question for ya since I know you have used the "Key to.. " Math books. I have a 4th gr, soon to be 5th gr. He is using Bob Jones Math, the lessons are short. I use this because he can write in the book, too. I was going to switch him to Saxon 65 next year because that is what we have. I don't think he will be able sit for the LONG lessons... so I was debating if I should put him in the Key books for fractions, then percents and decimals. Do you think these books are good enough for a whole Math curriculum, or should they only be use as a supplement or for 'extra' for learning mastery.

Does he have a firm foundation in addition, subraction, multiplication and division?

Good. Then yes, I think those three sets of Key to... books (Fractions, then Decimals, then Percents) would suffice for his 5th grade year--in fact, I know of a mom who homeschools all her children for their 5th grade year, lol, and that is what she uses! But, I would also have a math warm-up each day consisting of 1 to 3 addition, subtraction, x and division problems...and then, when he has finished the Fractions books, I would add a couple fraction problems (reducing or finding the LCD or GCF or adding or multiplying or whatever-but not all of them every day, just one or two). Same with decimals when he has finished those. The only problem I have found with using the books, you see, is that they concentrate on one thing for so long that they tend to forget the other things they have done--thus the warm-up
