Of course the personal reason(protest or convenience)and convention(culture)need to be considered but personally, I like 'short hair' on a woman like your avatar. The guy's haircut isn't bad either. Handsome couple!

If it's a sin, I'm dead! I've have worn my hair extremely short for much of my life...like THIS. It's not quite that short right now, so I'm probably only committing a venial sin at the moment. .

Well, you know. Some folks can apparently only tell the difference between men and women based on the length of their hair...

I personally find it sinful for women who's hair looks great short but they don't have to spend 30 minutes blow-drying, styling, hair-spraying and threatening their hair....

If short hair is a sin I have sinned for many years.

Wow, Kat! I know this is off-topic, but I love that link! My hair is short too, and I love it. As for the question - *shrug*

The question of course is, how short is too short? 3 inches? 6 inches? 12 inches? Mine is probably borderline right now but I have had it super short in the past. At what point in growing it out am I no longer sinning? And is there a "Nazareta" vow wherein a woman can temporarily have short hair?

"And The Lord said to Moses, "Say to the people of Israel, When either a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to The Lord, he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar made from wine or strong drink, and shall not drink any juice of grapes or eat grapes, fresh or dried. All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, not even the seeds or the skins. All the days of his vow of separation no razor shall come upon his head; until the time is completed for which he separates himself to The Lord, he shall be holy; he shall let the locks of hair of his head grow long. All the days that he separates himself to The Lord he shall not go near a dead body. Neither for his father nor for his mother, nor for brother or sister, if they die, shall he make himself unclean; because his separation to God is upon his head. All the days of his separation he is holy to The Lord." (Numbers 6:1-8)

Nazirite vows were not just a pre-Christian practice. The apostle Paul, a man who wrote much of the New Testament, took a Nazirite vow on occasion (Acts 18:18, 21:22-26)

Since scripture tells us not to get all fussy about braiding our hair ( a must for some long haired folk, especially in the summer ) short hair can't be all that bad. And when it talks about long hair being a glory, it implies it can be, it doesn't have to be.

My hair is long because m'love likes it long. To cut it short might be a sin of slightly dissappointing my beloved. But I know he'd love me anyhow. So you know my avatar is a little younger than the actual me.

When I was in early high school, I had shorter hair than my brother... Strangely, people were still able to tell he was a boy and I was a girl...

cute style!

Right now my hair is about an inch below my ears. My husband knows I'm female. That's all that counts

My hair has never been what I'd consider long, never more than just below my shoulders. It's easiest to take care of when it's long. just wash and brush.

I know, it's quite shocking... At that time I usually only wore jeans as well...

Of course, what's really not fair is that when his hair gets longer, he has a natural curl to it. Mine is straight. But then later in high school, his friends shaved his head and he's kept it that way ever since. My hair is like an elevator. It goes up and down. Right now I'm growing it out again because it's easier. Like Kath said - wash, brush and flip up with a clip.

I should add that he also usually wore jeans as well. However, he did not wear skirts. He only did that when we were little and I made him...

Of course, when we played army as kiddos, I would be the Lt. and I always made him be the private.

I wasn't bossy or anything....

Well, I haven't seen any posts backing up their "No" answer, but I'll admit it, I voted that "No; it's definitely a sin."

Honestly y'all, don't ya'll know anything?

I tell ya the sin is having long hair that takes 45 minutes to blow dry and another 30 to style.

Never again....ever never ever

I like my spikey short hair and so does my husband. He said that it made me look much thinner.

I was thinking that if that's the case, how much shorter could I go?

I had my hair cut short back in December of 2006.

I loved it.

Though now my hair is about 2" past the top of my blouse collar.

If I were a man, I'd really be in trouble with some people around here.

I don't find extremely short hair appealing to my personal preference, but that's just my preference.
