Dakotasunbeam -> RE: is there a symbolic message in the story of the pied piper? (3/20/2008 4:17:15 PM)

At first, I was going to try to find some alegorical meaning in the pied piper as it pertianed to a christian perspective. But as I began to read, I question whether the OP is being humorous? If you are not being humorous, please stop and take a deep breath, just remember scripture is of no private interpretation. Everything in scripture should line up. Another point I should make, if the word "pied piper" has some significance when you turn the "p" and the "d" upside down . . . how do you explain that the original word was in german or some german dialect, as you mentioned that the story began with Catholic german monks? Or does it only matter now that it has been translated. What if it means something entirely different when you read it in Dutch, French, Spanish or Greek? This is circular reasoning. Have you seen the movie, "Bug?"
