Any favorites out there in the genre of Christian Chick Lit? (Fiction that only women find entertaining would probably an apt description for this. Ha!) I really enjoy secular chick lit but want to start reading a more edifying and uplifting version of it. I've read one of Kristin Billerbeck's books and would love to find more authors like her. Who are some authors that you enjoy and can recommend? (I'm not so into the historical romance stuff, but it seems like this is all that is out there.)

I read a lot of secular chick lit and have been looking for Christian chick lit as well.

Judy Baer is a great author - so far I've read Million Dollar Dilemma, Norah's Ark and The Whitney Chronicles. I also have The Baby Chronicles on hold at the library for when they get it.

I also read Meredith Efkins "SAHM I Am" which I enjoyed.

Steeple Hill Cafe publishes books which come with the motto "Life, Faith and Getting It Right." You can check them out here

Just go to a Christian book store and pull anything from the fiction shelf not written by Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti. Nearly every Christian fiction book is chick lit. If it isn't, you can bet it's an end times novel instead.

Karen Kingsbury writes modern christian chick lit.

You might like some of Lynn Austin's stuff. Some of it is historical romance and some isn't. You would just have to wade through each title/series to see if it is something you'd enjoy. Francine Rivers is the same. I think Liz Curtis Higgs is similar, but I have only read her historical fiction, so I may be mistaken.

Kristen Heitzmann is entertaining, but not especially deep. Her stuff is still romantic, just not historic.

Dee Henderson may be someone you would like. Her stuff would probably appeal to both sexes, though. I've known several men to enjoy her books. But her genre definately isn't historical romance.

actually, uncabeeil....it's francine rivers...and i highly recommend her.

i've read a handful of her books. some are modern stories ("and the shofar blew," "leota's garden"), other historical (the 'lineage of grace' series - each of the 5 a story of a woman of God, and the 'mark of the lion' series - 3 books set during the roman empire).

One of my favorite series is "Sisterchicks" by Robin Jones Guinn.....best friends go on trips to exotic locations.

I just love the Sisterchicks books! [:D] (Her last name is Gunn not Guinn though)

Francine Rivers is highly recommended.

I could name a ton of Christian chick lit I have read (and not the historical fiction either). The way I find it is by going to Amazon.com. I type in an author I know and then on the sidebars you'll see the "listmania" lists that people made. Click on those and you'll get a whole list of good books.

I cannot recommend Neta Jackson highly enough! The Yada Yada series is my favorite. I feel like I really know those characters. There are seven books in the series, and I am reading the books very slowly because I do not want to see them come to an end. I cannot tell you how many Book #1's I have purchased for Christian and non Christian friends alike. I really feel like this series touches all women on some level.

Georgiabelle: I am with you. I LOVE the Yada Yada series. I am currently reading Book 6...and like you, I am reading it sloooowwwwly.

Although I love all of the characters, I am most like Jodi; how about you?

I highly recommend Thomas Kincade's (don't hold me to the spelling) Cape light novels they are excellent.

although its not fiction but John MacArthur has a great book especially for womenn?chick group studies called Twelve Extraordinary Women
