That's how they finished walls before sheetrock. I'd just prime and paint over the wallpaper. It wouldn't be worth it to risk the plaster coming down. If it does, you'll have to take it all down and sheetrock or replaster. It's not always easy finding a plasterer. If the wallpaper is up the well, if you prime, you can paint. If the wallpaper is coming off in a place or two, but mostly is up well, you can reglue. If you don't prime, it is possible that the paint (if you use latex/ acrylic) can reactivate the glue and it all can come down. So I would prime and then paint. I have also seen people put sheetrock straight over the old wall paper and walls. That's what someone had done to the walls in my parents old house...we found it out when we had to get through a wall that was nearly 18in thick to put a door in. Jessica and Sandy...our commissary is having their case lot sale right now...is yours? (oh yeah...and Ryanne...sorry I forgot you

We just ran by to grab some milk on our way home from the PX (where I found Jack and Emma some swim suits with swim shirts for great prices!!!). We usually just get trash bags and cleaning wipes...cause those are definitely used around here. They tend to do a lot of things we don't use (like drink cases, or cans we don't buy cause we prefer fresh or frozen stuff). We do use canned green beans....so I may get those if they have them.

Nicole, until you have all the money you would need BEFORE the house is done(all the building costs) I would not undertake such a project. It's to much of a risk especially if Arch hasn't received his raise yet. I would suggest you take the money you would be paying and start socking it away in the bank, and build when you have enough. It will also give you a chance to see if your proposed budget will work.

Also, in your figuring, don't forget that with a larger house will come larger bills so figure that into your monthly or weekly budget too before you decide if you can even afford it. Also don't forget to figure into that savings...you don't want to move then not have any extra to put back for savings or fix ups or whatever. I understand being antsy, but when things are the right time they will fall into place

Could be Sarah, you just dont know huh? I spoke to the financial guy again after we got the valuation and its atleast $40,000 more than we thought so that could help. Also by doing the loan as line of credit means we wouldnt really be paying much at all until we used each part of the loan and things wouldn't start until September which would give us time to save and the house would be done about 12 months after that... We have some decisions to make this weekend. Please pray for us that we use wisdom? Ugh, its hard to do all this stuff and be there for the kids. Grace is off her tree today and Nath is not much better.

Praying for you in your decision, Nicole. I agree with the others...if this would be stretching you at all financially, it may not be where the Lord is leading you. So I pray that God would give you guys wisdom and discernment as you work through this!

Grace is off her tree today and Nath is not much better. I have found over the years that when we had major decisions to be made or when we were going through a spiritual or physical battle, the kids were the first thing to get out of whack....I think it is because they are more sensitive to things like that, but who knows why....I really truly believe that after seeing how my kids react to things over the years. Anyway....when that happens I find that cutting out media things (tv/music, and sometimes even computer ) and playing praise and worship music helps the attitude in the house to keep more in line with being able to hear God...or at least it does in our house.

Rachel- my freelance job fell in my lap, so I don't know how to break into it. My current job fell into my lap as well. But there are lots of ways that you can build up your portfolio. Look at magazines, newsletters, papers that you read. Many have a "your say" column where readers write in. I'm working on one article for a magazine now that does that, to send in. Write for whatever you can, no matter how small, to build up your portfolio. Then you can begin approaching publications with article ideas. It's a hard business to break into and can take a while, but it is a lot of fun. Have a blessed day ladies!

Goodbye, old, stinky slow computer, hello new 15" screen laptop!! LOL! I just got a new laptop a couple months ago and now DH has severe laptop envy. I have a feeling our desktop(although not old and stinky) will be packed away pretty soon Which is fine with me, gives us more space if we don't need a desk.

Right now we have a huge computer desk and this clunky desktop in the kids' room. And they share. So in this room, there is a computer/desk, dresser, crib, toddler bed, toybox and a billion toys. It'll be nice to move this thing out of here. Hubby's parents bought us this computer and desk about 7 years ago while we were in college. It sure has been a blessing. But now it's out of memory and outdated and starting to fall apart (my CD drives/burners won't work).

I'm SO looking forward to sitting on the front porch and playing online while the kids play. HERE are some pics from our Branson trip, if anyone wants to see.

ORIGINAL: BlessedMamaofmany I want a laptop wicked bad! I'm thinking I'll be getting a laptop before too much longer, and my mom can use our desktop, she has one, but it sucks...and we don't need 2. Hmmmm... Sandy Watch BestBuy, I am slightly picky, but not overly since I mainly use it for internet and school work(word processing), I found one on sale at Best Buy for $450, it does need a little upgrade in memory but that will still not be expensive. Micah probably won't spend more then $600, eventually when we have room he can set up the desktop as a gaming machine, but until then it's going into the closet.
