Thanks..... I am sure I will be fine, I just need some peace (and obedience) about the doctor's instructions not to exercise for the next week. The workout was more strenuous and different from what I'd been doing on my own (which is why I went to a professional) ..... oh well. My wonderful DH is sooooo protective, he made me promise not to exercise or do ANYTHING for the next week, until he (and the doc) are sure I'm fine. He even called me this afternoon to make sure I wasn't doing laundry! And he said no housecleaning, either.

So .... I'm being obedient, and just sitting here. OK, I did sneak out front and fill bird feeders. (It didn't feel too strenuous, ya know?)

And if he didn't forbid it, it wasn't disobedience.

I wish *I* had doctor's orders not to exercise!! My midwife wants me to exercise MORE, but I can't figure out when in my day to do it!! LOL (plus it's winter ... nuff said!)

another joy of being a sahm...
My garbage disposal is broken. It was just making noise and trying to run, but then I think I broke the reset button, because now it won't do anything...*sigh* I had to fish a lot of yuckies out of there while doing the dishes Good thing I'm not preg right now, or there'd have been puke in there too!
Hopefully Maintance Guy can come tomorrow and fix it.

Today I made two types of cookies (Well, I cooked the dough for one kind that my hubby had made and put in the freezer - I didn't actually do any work with that cookie!) and then made brownies for a ladies thing tonight - there were eight ladies there and I only brought back 3 brownies out of over 2 dozen cookies and a big thing of brownies! Everyone loved the desserts (and there were two teenagers and a husband there too! They helped themselves.)
I liked being able to do that today.
And Judah's fingerprints were in the brownies As I was leaving I placed the brownies on the table and turned to talk to Paul. Judah stood by the table and stuck his hand right in them - Paul and I heard him smacking his lips and turned to find him sucking his fingers clean!! :) It was cute, and we tried to be stern, but it was just too funny to not laugh!!

I love being a mom

Harvie, I hope all goes well at the doc.

Sandy, I'm sorry your garbage disposal is broken. Our slumlord told us that we basically can't put anything down there anymore. They had to send a plumber out twice because the downstairs neighbors sink was overflowing with what I put in my garbage disposal.

My dishwasher has been broken over a week now. They said they'd order me a new one and it'd prolly be here Wednesday. I sure hope so. My wonderful hubby said he didn't mind if all the dishes got dirty and just wash as I go for what we need to eat off of, so that was nice of him. I cleaned it all up this weekend though, and before the maintenance men get here, I'm going to neatly stack my dirty dishes so I don't look like a slob. My neighbor came over today and did Monday's dishes though, so that was so nice of him. He usually comes over about once a week does a load of dishes and I feed him something. It works out pretty nicely. He ven picks up my living room sometimes if there aren't many dishes

Anyway, I'm gonna call the slumlords tomorrow and make sure they are coming with my new dishwasher. Dishes is my least favorite chore, and doing them by hand makes it ten times worse. I seriously don't know how people could have lived way back when there was no electricity and they had to hand wash dishes and laundry and sweep the carpet and poop outside. Or, even before plastic was invented. What did kids play with if there was no plastic? Sticks an rocks?

Harvie, hope everything is ok with your heart. Take it easy!!!

Jessica, I too find it hard not to laugh at the little one when trying to be stern. They definitely know when to turn on the charm.

I baked yesterday too, which is a very rare occurrence, but it made hubby very happy. I made peanut butter cookies and they were very yummy. It was a little bit of a challenge because Hunter was so clingy yesterday that I had to do most of it with him on my hip. He enjoyed watching the kitchen aid mix the ingredients though. Last night I gave him a clean spoon and let him help while I loaded the dishwasher as Sarah suggested. It worked! I was surprised, but it kept him entertained enough that he wasn't trying to climb on top of the lid or pull other stuff out. Then he helped mommy close it and push the button which he loved.

Sandy, have you checked around the edges of the disposal? Last summer, I found that even cantelope or tomato seeds could jam mine if they got wedged in just right. If there's something wedged, you could pop it out yourself.

I tried that Maggie. I fished around in there quite a bit, and I can't find anything. I remember turning it on and something got stuck. I think it turned out to be a milk jug lid that I didn't see. That's when it started acting up.
I wonder if it just jammed?
Anyhoo...I just called while typing this, and there's a spot open at 10:30! WOOHOO! He'll be here soon...
I'll let y'all know what he says...cause I know you're all on pins and needles wondering about my disposal right??

A screw?? And you don't even have any "big boys" in your house yet! LOL

I'm so glad we don't have a garbage disposal. I can only imagine the things my kids would try to feed it.

LOL, Rachel!

Sandy, I'm glad your GD got fixed.

I called my slumlord today and they said my dishwasher is in, and they'll be out Thursday or Friday.

Robert brought home a diaper garbage can yesterday. It's not a diaper genie. It's a garbage can that has a hole at the top to put a diaper in, then you flip this little mechanism and the diaper falls into the pail while creating another hole for another diaper. It's an airtight seal, so now our house won't smell like poop anymore! I'm going to wash it out today.

That's funny Rachel That's how my parents were too!!

Christine - I know what you're talking about, I love those contraptions!! And they hold any size bag, so you can just use grocery bags!!

Today has been so unproductive. I need to wash and fold laundry *so* badly! Oh - and then put it away I am so bad at putting it away.

I am opposite from you.....I WANT ONE. We are pricing them and are looking at getting one.

yay for the trash can Christina!!!!I was so glad when we were down to only one in diapers. Now that he is older they stink sometimes, and we just tie them up and out they go immediately....but I have kids I can send outside to the trash cans.

Yeah -- I would love a garbage disposal as well (even though I know the kids would try to experiment and see what makes the coolest mess -- mom's watch or dad's lego)

Well, we are having a much better day today. The last few days have been so draining that I really needed a day like today. We stayed busy most of the morning running errands, came home played outside, had lunch, and now he is napping. I just got done mopping the entire kitchen floor with my new mop and it was actually fun, I felt so productive. Now I am waiting for it to dry so I can put everything back where it goes. My sister really made me see how blessed I am today when she shared about a friend of hers who is having to go back to work in 2 weeks. She is a nurse and will have to work 3 days a week 12 hours each of those days. She doesn't want to go back to work at all financially, they could afford for her to stay home, but her husband refuses to let her because they would have to change their lifestyle. Apparently it is nothing for them to drop $300 here, $100 here type of situation. It just made me think how blessed I am to have a husband who willing wanted to make that sacrifice so I could stay home with our son. I do know everyone's situation is different so I don't want anyone thinking I am downing those who do work, I just realized I take for granted the fact that I don't have to, and I got a new prospective on how blessed I am.

Regarding garbage disposals I love mine! I use it almost everyday, but I am mindful of what I put down it.

My wonderful DH doesn't like me to put anything down the garbage disposal ..... I think he's worried it will stop working some day. I do put down tomato goop and cucumber peels and the innards from red peppers .... but that's about it. Oh, and the goop from acorn squash.

Is goop even a real word?

I second that! Well we have a disposal but that just usually chews up the little bits and pieces from doing dishes. The big stuff goes into the garbage bucket and out into the field. Our "something" though is the farm dog (who LOVES to drag all the bones around the lawn) and the recent momma cat with 5 kittens. And we are proud to say, Sky (momma cat) has caught a mouse for us!

And I just learned something new, you are actually not to run a garbage disposal with a septic tank. hmm, (I've been a bad girl with that one!)

Hmmm...I never knew that. Might be why I've never had one in any place we've lived. There are no sewers or public water here, except in a select few bigger towns.

Chelle -- Ryan and I feel the same way. Ever since the beginnng he has wanted me to be at home. But financially we could not swing it. And he tells me that he wants to get us to the point where if I WANTED to work, he'd be okay with that, but if not, then he would be just as happy if I was home. (kwim?) The way things are right now, it is such a HUGE blessing that my parents are allowig us to stay in their home (and someone mentioned a culture thing, and we have discussed this too). In many cultures, our situation is not uncommon at all! It is mostly uncommon here in the states because of the mentality that as soon as you are old enough to work full-time then start looking for a way to be on your own.

Praise the Lord. I finally got Nathan down for a nap. He took a 20 minute snooze earlier today, but it wasn't nearly enough after the bad night we had last night (mostly due to noisy neighbors). Nathan was starting to get really... challenging.

He's been getting very shy lately, but I took him our Library's reading hour (for kids 12-24 months), and he was okay. He stuck real close to me for the first 10 minutes, then relaxed a bit. He's starting to get comfortable with the reading hour, just as they're getting ready to remodel over the summer! Ah, we'll have to go to another library.

We also played outside, we he loves, even when he is tired and grumpy.

I'm worried about the shyness, though. My inlaws are coming for Easter, and they so dearly want to be close to Nathan, but over Christmas he wouldn't give them the time of day. I fear it will be even worse this time.
