Today, I....well...I cleaned my stovetop and microwave. That is about the only thing I got done with any visible proof.

I did, too!

Friday is my day to clean the kitchen thoroughly. I'm all done except for mopping. I'll do that after supper so that it lasts longer. Other than that, the only thing left on my to-do list today is folding laundry. I'll do that when Jeopardy comes on.

Yay Prudent! I love my bread machine...it's the best!! What's your recipie for cinn/raisin bread? I have a good one, maybe we could exchange?
Good luck with that Jess. That's all I have to say. Good luck LOL
Yay Maggie! I always love having a clean stove top...till I have to cook dinner, then I don't want to dirty it up LOL
Jenn, your fam night sounds like fun. Maybe we'll do that too. I always love an excuse to make popcorn! YUM!!

I had so much fun putting my girls to work today. They were obviously bored because they were fighting like crazy. So I gave them each a clorox wipe and told them to clean. They did all my dusting and living room wiping. That was nice. Then they helped me vacuum. My 5yo loves to do the whole thing...even though the poor thing can barely push our heavy vacuum LOL. It was very sweet time with them, keeping our home nice together. I really enjoyed it.

Jessica, do you not have to be on bed rest since having the surgery done? I haven't been to good at keeping up with the pregnancy thread these days so I am a little behind with everyone that is preggers.

That is a lot of people to cook for, but it sounds like fun! I have been wanting to have a big group of people over and do dinner, we just haven't found the time to. I hope it goes good tonight and ya'll have fun! What are you cooking by the way?

I've been doing laundry today. I'm just working my way through the piles, slowly but surely. I need to dust, mop, and vaccum, but that might have to wait. My sore throat is turning into a cough and I fear making myself too hot.

I thought I'd grill out kabobs for dinner (it's spring-like today) and have a red velvet cake in the oven as a special treat. It'll probably turn out pink b/c I didn't have the amount of red food coloring it called for- which probably isn't good for us anyhow. I bet dh will want to rent a movie tonight or maybe go to the book store for coffee. I don't much care... I'd just as soon stay at home. But whatever he wants to do is fine.

Tomorrow, he plans to do yard work and study (OT Seminary class.) I'll just do little stuff around the house while he is outside and then study (working my way through Kings and Chronicles) while he is studying. We were out of town last weekend, so it will be nice to be at home together.

Yay for bread machines! I'm so happy to see you posting again Prudent.

Okay, here's the schedule I've been trying out the last two weeks (I'm a terrible housewife, so I thought the schedule would help).

Mondays: Laundry (5 loads) and Vacuuming (main living area, TV room and 2 bedrooms)
Tuesdays: Serious Kitchen Cleanup and sweep the inside stairs
Wednesdays: Special non-typical household projects, overflow, clip cat's nails and visit with my mom
Thursdays: Bathrooms and dusting
Friday: Grocery shopping, other outside-home errands, and overflow

I can't say I've been perfect at this, or that I got done everything I wanted to do, but I think I accomplished a lot more then if I hadn't at least been trying to keep to this schedule. Overflow is anything I should've done on a different day but didn't.

On weeks where I have some paid work to do, then housework may get pushed aside a little bit, but dH is cool with that since he likes the extra money.

No, I'm not on bed rest. I am being closely monitored and if things change they'll put me on bedrest, but everything is good right now.

I am making tacos I think it'll be a pretty easy meal - especially since Paul just kicked me out of the kitchen and said he was going to cook the meat and cut up the lettuce and tomatoes My house wife duties now consist of wiping off our table and playing with Judah!

Well, I smelled burning and went to check on my cake. It should be done right now. I found it boiling out of the cake pan. So, I turned the oven off, cleaned up a lot of the mess, put the cake pan on a cookie sheet, and am now waiting for the oven to reheat so the cake can cook for another 1/2 hour. It's still soupy inside. The recipe didn't say what size pan to use, and I assumed wrongly. I hope the whole thing doesn't end up in the trash!

What are everyone's plans for the weekend? Are many of you having family night tonight? We have taken to spreading out quilts on the family room floor and having a picnic and a movie.

My wonderful DH is flying an afternoon mission this afternoon/tonight, so he may not be home until 2am... oh well. I'm making grilled chicken, sausage and peppers over tofu shirataki noodles, with a spring mix salad with tomatoes and radishes .... and then I get to clean all of that up! Of course I'll be feeding a house-full of hungry animals, too.

This weekend, we have three things on our "To Do" list .... more bike riding (it's beautiful outside), we're going to drive the Blossom Trail (since all the local orchards are in bloom), and we may go see the a movie. Of course, there will the usual weekend around-the-house things, too .... plus changing all of our clocks on Saturday. Maybe some flower planting in there somewhere would be nice!

And snuggling, lots of snuggling.

Just wanted to pop in real quick and say:

I hope your cake turns out, His, that has happened to me before, I never seem to have the right pan...I really want the good cake rounds with the little scraper thingy that is attached in the center and runs along the bottom like a clock hand like my mom had when I was growing up..I don't seem to find those when I remember to look for cake pans!

Oh! And I love Kinds & Chronicles, that is where my Sunday School study began when I first found the Lord.

Harvie, your weekend sounds lovely.

Sandy, it warmed my heart to picture you and your girls taking care of your home together. I try to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the kiddoes during my housekeeping, it really is wonderful to do it with them, isn't it?

Sideways(are you Ruth?) and Consecrated (are you Lisa?) I love my routines! I am a Flybaby, she really turned my household around. I have a control journal with stacks of lists...daily, weekly, monthly...I just love it and my home really shows it!

Have a wonderful evening everyone, off to family night...will probably check back after the kiddoes are in bed

I haven't done ANYthing today! Well, housework-wise, anyway. I did get up first thing this morning and cook a breakfast casserole and go to Bible study, then I came home and while Izzy napped and Isaac played cars, I sat on my bed and watched "Far and Away" and read a magazine!!

I did all my major deep spring cleaning about a week ago. I cleaned out closets (all 2 of them), rearranged furniture, replaced faucet handles in the bathroom and sprayer in the kitchen and tile trim stuff in the bathroom, then I got the house nice and spotless for the in-laws visit and now this weekend I'm relaxing!!! Hubby is working this weekend so tomorrow will be boring, though. Gas is $3.19/gallon here so no 30-mile trip to town for me. Oh well!!! Can't wait till it's warm enough to at least get the kids out in the stroller and stroll around our little town!

Yes, I'm Ruth and she's Lisa. Hey that scheduling sounds cool, but I'm taking baby steps here.

dH returned from work early (after a week of coming home very, very, late), so I put the baby to bed for a nap and cooked a nice steak lunch. After that we went to the mall, 'cause it's rainy here and we wanted to let Nathan burn off some energy.

I'll be doing dinner a'fare tomorrow, but after this month I'm cutting back on how often I do it to reduce the grocery bill, and my SIL, her mom and I are going to see "The Other Boleyn Girl". Our husbands did not want to see that movie. But dH are hanging out together tonight, and Nathan is very tired, so he's in for an early night!

Actually, Nathan has been moving his own bedtime back all on his own from 8/8:30 to 7/7:30. How nice of him to prepare himself for the upcoming time change! (And at 11 months, too. How'd he get so smart? )

Thanks, Jen. I've never heard of those types of cake pans. If I'm going to get serious about baking, I probably need to spend some time buying some better equipment. The thig is that I have a 9x13 I could have used for a sheet cake if I had only realized. It took and extra hour to bake and appears to be a bit dry. I just finished cooking the milk for the icing... when that cools I can finish up. Now, if I can just find the energy to fix dinner after the cake fiasco.

Alright, I'm jumping in a little late (it's been busy around here lately!)

I'm Lexie, I'm a SAHM to my 15 month old daughter Akeelah. Prior to that I was a SAHW, but I did work for two months during my pregnancy. I do teach skating a few hours a week but that is only for two 8-week sessions and is now done until next fall. I also do a teeny bit of freelance writing from home.

Best thing about staying home for me is watching Akeelah blossom into a little girl. She is a true joy to be around. Also, my morph from undomestic goddess into almost domestic diva. Before I had Akeelah I could barely cook and clean. I now run an organized and efficient household, and I'm not that bad a cook anymore (though the salmon is a little blackened tonight!).

Another great thing is being able to take ALL the credit for my daughter's intelligence (well I give some to Dh as well!)

Not so good things - winters are hard. It's too cold to even walk across the street so we don't get out much. The last two months have been especially hard because we have been getting so many snowstorms (15-30 cm at a time). I hate driving in winter weather so it's not like I can just pop Akeelah in the car and go somewhere.

But we do keep busy. Akeelah has playgroup and swimming throughout the year. We have a mall across the street and a beautiful park with a splashpad as well for in the summer. My mom lives in the same city as me so we visit at least once a week, and do lots of stuff together. I like to read as well so I never feel too cooped up because there is always a book for me to read.

Where I live, I don't get too much flack for being a stay at home mom. Most of the people who live in my neighbourhood are from cultures where the mom stays home. There are a few mom's who at playgroup who can't understand why I stay at home but these are the people who see having children as something you're supposed to do, not something you really want to do.

Dh asked me to stay home with our kids and of course I wanted to as well. All my income would go toward day care anyway, and the waiting lists for daycare in my city are well over a year, so it's not just something I can pick up and do.

This weekend is going to be quite packed! Today Joel took some time off of work (after having to drive home from El Paso last night because his flight here to DFW was cancelled because of snow...he arrived after 2 am this morning) so we could go to Arlington and pick up our baseball tickets for this season, woohooo!! Then tomorrow we're doing our live fantasy baseball draft in the morning/afternoon and then going out for sushi dinner with our new friends (friends of friends from CA). Then Sunday we're going to be trying out a new church.

This weeked I'm tackling all the dishes that are piled up in my kitchen. My dishwasher has been broken since Tuesday, and we won't be getting a new one put in till maybe Wednesday. My neighbor said I could bring all my dishes to his house and use his dishwasher, and I'm seriously considering it. He works all weekend, so I wouldn't be bothering him. Give me a chance to spend some time with his kitty too.

Sunday I think we're going big grocery shopping. I wish we could go Saturday, but we don't get foodstamps until the 9th. I hate it when the 9th falls on a Sunday. Oh, well, at least we'll have some real food! Hubby didn't get a chance to pick up WIC from the store, so I haven't had chocolate milk and cereal in three days. I'm jonesing for some dairy. Timmy's Lactaid is nasty. Luckily Ford is nice enough to loan us a car for Sunday so we can go grocery shopping.

I think I'm going to go through all the toys again and put a lot of stuff away. They have so many toys it's rediculous. I'm hoping to get it down to one shelf, one giant toybox and one milk crate. I'm also going to find all the Hot Wheels this weekend and put them in the Hot Wheels case. I found 13 behind the dresser today, and 8 underneath his mattress last week. Timmy owns over 70 Hot Wheels. When the maintenance men came over, they commented on how many toys my kids have, and I felt kind of embarassed. Like, "Maybe you wouldn't live in this dump if you would quit spending all your money on toys." They didn't actually say that, but that's what it felt like.

I've been getting some flack from my friend because we gave Timmy back his binky in the daytime. She was adimant about taking her son's binky away at 1 years old, teething or not. (It's really weird that we are best friends. We never agree on anything religious or anything regarding children.) I guess I felt a little embarrassed when the maintenance men came over and saw him with it. But taking away Timmy's binky is like taking away another kid's special stuffed animal or special blanket. His binky IS his lovey. Since we gave it back to him, and he started drinking less juice, his behavior has been so much better. He throws like 3 times a day now instead of 50 times an hour. He will actually sit down and play with something instead of having to always move. And, he takes it out to talk. It's kinda weird though, when he leaves his binky behind somewhere, he automatically starts throwing stuff. Not like a tantrum, just for fun and to watch it crash. But, as soon as I give it back to him, he doesn't throw anymore. It's nice because now I don't have to worry about Jimmy getting hit with a Hot Wheel.

it's none of her business!!!! He is YOUR child and YOU can make that decision on your own. If God felt you couldn't then He would have given that child to HER!!!!

OK...so I got a job....well, sorta. Our Bible study was cancelled again (sickies still going around)...but we never got the email about that, so we showed up. Well, the people understood...they said they have been having issues with communication a lot anyway...or rather lack of it. Anyway they want to get some things organized and orderly in that department, get the church set up on MySpace, get out a church directory, etc. So I said I would be glad to help out, and she jumped all over that!!! She said all the others trying to do it work too so they can't find the time to really get it all organized...and y'all know how much organizing things on the computer is right up my alley!!!! I am so psyched!!! She is going to introduce me to the necessary people on Sunday.

Thanks, Sarah. Her big mouth comes in handy sometimes though, like her friend staying with her who doesn't want her baby girl to grow up to be big and tall. Don't know if you remember that post or not. Anyway, I'll post about that inthe baby thread so Jenny can see too.

That is so awesome about being able to use your skills to help your church!

Wow, it sounds like you are on top of things! I have to keep mine pretty simple. I've tried Flylady before and it didn't help me. I need to have it simple enough I can keep it in my head.

I did change things around a bit when we moved, simply because I was adding on more rooms to clean, and I did print it out and put it on the bulletin board just because I don't have it memorized quite yet.

Here's my schedule:

Monday: My bedroom, stairway, hallway
Tuesday: Bathrooms, mop kitchen, fold laundry
Wednesday: Livingroom, grocery shopping
Thursday: Kids' rooms, laundry room
Friday: Kitchen, fold laundry
Saturday: Playroom, outside (lawn, porch)

It works really well for me. This is my first week since moving to have completely followed my new schedule, but I know the old one I had really helped keep my house looking nice.

My daily duties are: Childcare, bathroom maintenance (think Flylady), make beds, kitchen & dishes (constant, ongoing, neverending task), clutter control and cooking.

The other big stuff like errands, dusting, vacuuming and weekly kitchen & bathroom cleaning (like mopping, etc) just happen when I find chunks of happy baby time.

I'm big into maintaining a clean home so I never feel overwhelmed. And no one task ever gets really big or too time consuming. I'd rather spend 10 minutes in the bathrooms a day, and a half hour once a week than spend an hour and a half Saturday morning trying to scrub mold growth. I get easily overwhelmed and upset when I feel my house is getting out of control.

Also, we live on a very busy street, at one of the busiest intersections in our county. We get unannounced guests weekly, when friends & family are stuck in traffic at our driveway. If people see our cars, and are in the right lane, they'll pull in and visit for a minute. It really warms my hubby's heart everytime we get unannounced guests and the house is respectably tidy and clean.

This is one of the things I will miss when I go back to work! I won't be able to stay on top of things like I do now.

**********
Sandy, the raisin bread I made is actually a recipe that uses Raisin Bran cereal. I know you are a no HFCS household, so I don't know if you'd like it. Raisin Bran was hubby's favorite cereal, and now he's tired of it. I have a huge box to use up, so I've been making this bread. It's pretty good. I use 50% whole wheat flour, and substitute honey for the brown sugar.

Oh well Prudent. Thanks anyhoo =)
I've been trying to maintain my house too. Hubby's standards are *ahem* a lot higher than mine , so I just try to keep it 'company nice' most of the time. It's easier that way.

My husband's standards are a lot lower than mine, which can be very frustrating. But after witnessing over the years the kind of pigsty he grew up in...well, I don't have to aim too high to please him.
