You will just wind up being banned as one of those hate-fillled Christians. The sad fact is that a great number of church goers have no idea of how far her beliefs are from Orthodox Christianity.

If you're strong, I guess it's ok to do that.

However, I battle enough with the fact that there are so many in my own household who believe that junk, that I don't want to battle it on the internet too.

Ok. so I turned on my tv and her show is on and she's interviewing some from the "Big Give" her latest "me" thing. Anyway, she 2 guys from the show gave each guest $100.00 and Oprah said that they would "feel" better if they gave away the money. Hmmm, why is it that I need to "feel" better? What if I have a bill to pay? What if I need to buy groceries? Very scary thinking.

No Dumb Blonde, I had the same thought about Oprah being the 'Antichrist' Great minds think alike

She has a cult following. All she has to do is move and the audience erupts in applause and tears. She has insidiously entered homes, gained the viewers trust but somewhere along the line, she has become a spiritual guru, a pastor of sorts to the masses. And I don't think she attended a legitimate seminary if you get my drift. The saddest/scariest thing is she sees herself as truth, along with countless of other people. If Oprah says it, it must be true!

Many of us have seen her coming for a long time. I've been thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure I'd say it too loud in a crowded room unless the Lord REALLY led me to. That cult following is everywhere and the thing about cults??? You never know what they're capable of.

Thanks for sharing... at the three minute mark I got some twists in my stomach. Why? Because the lady's sentiment is what many self-professing Christians say on this boards when discussing their extra-revelatory "RHEMA" knowledge and leaders.

Wow. Satan is a liar and is indeed working to fool even the elect.

Oprah's name is Hebrew. Her name was given to her from the book of Ruth. Although, the spelling and pronunciation was changed from Orpah who Naomi sent back to her own people and the gods of her own people. The name Oprah has been rearranged throughout her career and used. As well as Harpo Productions. And quite frankly, still used. And not for the Lord but for the gods she worships.

Read and research for yourself and don't be shocked who she supports or should we ask supports her?

Oprah is not a bad person, nor is she evil. She is creating this "new religous thing" with the best intentions. I can see how they went wrong, giving that she is pushing millions of people away from God and what God wants. If you don't like it, don't get involved with it. Everyone has their own religous freedom. If somebody wants to be all "we are all, God is one, we are God" type of thing, there is really nothing we can do.

Anyone who denies Jesus as the Christ is an antichrist or of the antichrist. And no we are not God.
And, yes, there is plenty we can do. We are called to spread the gospel and warn others..

I would only concern myself with Oprah's ideals if they were emulated by christians.

The sad thing is that there are many Christians who watch her show and believe that she is a Christian.

Those are the same people that pay heed to known false prophets and false teachers... so eh...

If you are referring to "paying heed to WOF teachers"...I work with many women who are far from being WOF, they are Christians of various denominations, and many of them watch Oprah and see nothing wrong with her. I also know many WOF Christians and none that I know of watch her...for the very reasons stated here.

Thanks for clarifying.

Some of the people I work with admit to never even reading their Bible. They do attend church regularly.
Also, my MIL has belonged to the same denomination all her life and has gone to church faithfully, except for a few years, and until a year or two ago did not read her Bible. She watches Oprah and Dr. Phil almost daily.

It's sad how easily many people can take 10+ hours out of their week to listen to dribble, but how hard it is to take even as little as 3-4 hours a week to spend reading His Word.

That is how we wind up with the garbage like Oprah is promoting.

I feel like I've been on 3 or 4 threads about this. I'm getting confused to where I've posted. :)

I just saw a new thread that the moderator redirected someone here. They posted the two youtube video's that I'm sure you have seen. Then I saw this and would LOVE to see a debate. Would anyone else?

There is a followup "debate" of sorts...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BjL4Y9UOpw&feature=related

Personally, I would love to see a personal debate between the two of them - I would also like a full explanation from Oprah of how she can take scripture out of context, going so far as to deny scripture, and still call herself a Christian. I'm really dismayed that someone who has the potential to be such a positive and powerful leader leading others astray and far, far from the truth.

And the other thread was going so smoothly. So what do you do when your friend comes to you with questions and doubts? Anyone care to post some scripture combating this false teaching?

I used to fall into a trap with one of my friends that was a New Ager when we were both in college in the 80's that got hooked into Kenneth Copeland and Elizabeth Claire Prophet or Kundalini or whatever was spiritually cool to him ...it was to try to answer him point by point.

Some people aren't just wandering blind sheep that will suck up every message given them (like so many are doing with the Oprah gospel/New Earth and other junk she pushes). Some are very intelligent and highly self-deceived spiritual seekers.

4ChristisLove makes a point that I finally figured out when dealing with certain people that are very knowledgeable about spiritual things:

HIT THEM WITH ONE OR TWO VERSE OF SCRIPTURE THAT ARE SO BLATANT ABOUT JESUS BEING THE TRUTH AND THE ONLY WAY TO GOD!

... and then you leave it at that.

You just keep affirming the simple truth to the intellectually blinded, sometimes.
Many actually love to have DEEEEEEEEEP spiritual conversations and it just reinforces them. This is what my friend and I did for years @_@
Finally I just got very basic with him and kept saying that no matter what anything else is teaching, it is twisting the true message of Jesus and Jesus as he is presented by His own words plainly is the Jesus we all need.

Don't get me wrong.. in other threads I have affirmed the need to explain to people things like the fact that Eckhart Tolle's "sowing and reaping" is not what the Bible means by it, but a code for Karmic Law, etc

However, I have found that very few times have I ever dented an unbeliever even after the most in-depth discussions.
I have seen LDS, Jehovah's Witnesses, my friend and other non-believers completely in turmoil and shaken by the Spirit by one well spoken verse of Scripture given by the leading of the Spirit Himself

Whatever approach you take with someone about Oprah or any deception, make sure it isn't coming from a can and that it is what God would have you speak with a particular individual. Sometime you are going to have to have a vigorous debate, show proofs, etc and sometimes you will just say very little at all and sometimes you will say nothing to them at all, but pray for their eyes to be opened by the LORD

Apologetics is whatever the Lord leads you to do to defend and AFFIRM the truth of the Gospel

And the other thread was going so smoothly. So what do you do when your friend comes to you with questions and doubts? Anyone care to post some scripture combating this false teaching?

Deuteronomy 6:13 - 19 states, "Deeply respect God, your God. Serve and worship him exclusively. Back up your promises with his name only. Don't fool around with other gods, the gods of your neighbors, because God, your God, who is alive among you is a jealous God. Don't provoke him, igniting his hot anger that would burn you right off the face of the Earth. Don't push God, your God, to the wall as you did that day at Massah, the Testing-Place. Carefully keep the commands of God, your God, all the requirements and regulations he gave you. Do what is right; do what is good in God's sight so you'll live a good life and be able to march in and take this pleasant land that God so solemnly promised through your ancestors, throwing out your enemies left and right—exactly as God said." (putting the statement about God being a jealous God into proper context)

1 John 2: 18 - 27, "Children, time is just about up. You heard that Antichrist is coming. Well, they're all over the place, antichrists everywhere you look. That's how we know that we're close to the end. They left us, but they were never really with us. If they had been, they would have stuck it out with us, loyal to the end. In leaving, they showed their true colors, showed they never did belong. But you belong. The Holy One anointed you, and you all know it. I haven't been writing this to tell you something you don't know, but to confirm the truth you do know, and to remind you that the truth doesn't breed lies. So who is lying here? It's the person who denies that Jesus is the Divine Christ, that's who. This is what makes an antichrist: denying the Father, denying the Son. No one who denies the Son has any part with the Father, but affirming the Son is an embrace of the Father as well. Stay with what you heard from the beginning, the original message. Let it sink into your life. If what you heard from the beginning lives deeply in you, you will live deeply in both Son and Father. This is exactly what Christ promised: eternal life, real life! I've written to warn you about those who are trying to deceive you. But they're no match for what is embedded deeply within you—Christ's anointing, no less! You don't need any of their so-called teaching. Christ's anointing teaches you the truth on everything you need to know about yourself and him, uncontaminated by a single lie. Live deeply in what you were taught."

John 14:6, "Jesus said, 'I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me.' "

These are just a few that came to mind.

Where did the debate go, here I hope. Keep sending the videos. Oprah now has a webcast, she just bought a 24 hr cable channel. She is also on that satellite radio where what's his name went. If we don't speak up, who will. I don't see the media on it. This has to be combated! Oprah has had 23 years to build this up. We been sleep. In my community, lots of people love Oprah. They identify. They see the giving of the money. Little girls wanna be her. It's real sad to me, but nevertheless as a Christian I can show people in love, because I love them that this is just wrong.

1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist

In the video Tolle says ""Jesus says you are the light."

Nope.

Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Thanks to all who have posted scripture. I'm gonna write them down and study before I speak with my friend. I get a copy of The Daily Bread devotional every month and the last few days have really hit home. How fitting of God to send them.

Can someone explain the "reaping and sowing" that Tolle spekas of because I get the impression that it's kind of like a "If we're nice enough the world will be fixed" sort of thing. A little contrary to what God says will happen, but then again you've got the WOF teachers teaching the same thing.
