Babies, like brides, are beautiful by definition. There is simply no need to do it, IMO.

I agree!!

Yes. In fact, I did almost 32 years ago.

My ears were pierced by a friend when I was 15. I had wanted my ears pierced since early childhood because my Grandmother Weldy had lovely earrings. Most 'white' girls did not have pierced ears when I was a child. We used an upholstery needle and an ice cube on me.

So I guess that the Southen Baptist ladies finally started to figure, why leave it just to the Mexican ladies to have done, to have fun with.

(But what do I know?) Take care.

Fine, great!

I think the Southern Baptist ladies are catching up, though...right?

Take care.

Nope, wouldn't pierce a baby girl's ears. Mainly two reasons, I don't particularly want to take care of them, have enough with taking care of baby things and older kids (this being if I am ever blessed with a daughter); and I personally think earrings look ugly (sorry ladies).

If they want them done when they're older, able to think through why they want it done, responsible enough to take care of them, all that... then we'll discuss it and they would probably pay for it.

No, not until she's old enough to want them. And I don't mean ask once and off we go to do it.

Growing up, the age my sister and I had to be was 8. We both had it done on our 8th birthdays. I haven't worn earrings in a few years now. I'm sure they would get ripped out of my head.

My SIL and MIL have been on my case since Hannah was born about when I was going to get it done. Apparently, it's a given in their family. As with most other things, if I feel pressure, that makes me even LESS likely to go along with what someone else wants.

I'm coming to this thread kind of late, but I had to comment on the bolded part! PrincessDonna, I like your logic! I think you and I would get along really well!!!

Also, I have a 2 year-old daughter, and I have no intention of getting her ears pierced; I will wait until she is much older and let her decide if she wants it done
