I did. I don't think I'm going to do stripes though, since I changed the fabrics/bedding set. I would most likely do brown on the bottom, green on top. Maybe a white-ish stripe in between? Or chair rail? The trim is oak, and dh wants a cherry crib. So I'm not so sure that chair rail in oak would be the best thing. I'll have to post paint samples once I get them picked out.

Purejoy- Brown on top and green on bottom sounds lovely. Personally, I'm a fan of chair rail in a childs room because of the wear a child places on the walls as he gets older and begins jumping on the bed and banging into furniture and rearranging furniture. IMO, if you don't do a physical chair rail I wouldn't pain a white line around the room. I'd just tape off the brown and green so that you got a crisp meeting of those two colors. Maybe I am missing how the white-ish line would add to the room. Are you adding other whites in accessories and want to make sure the white is balanced around the room? If so, I can see that the white line would add to the room.
I have a bit of a delimma and I'm hoping you ladies can give me some suggestions. I have one idea to solve, but would like to hear your ideas. We just purchased a new TV, surround sound system, and TV stand. The TV will be at a different height than it was previously, so the wall decor will not work with it as it is. I need some ideas on how to arrange the wall decor and/or how to change it. The main problem is that the ceiling is 12 ft at that spot and the rest of the decor balances at that height, so whatever I end up with needs to be about the same height as what I have now.
You are going to have to use your immagination a bit because the pictures I took are a combo of the new system and the old. The new system will include the furniture I will link, the large TV, and the wall decor. The new TV will be at the height it is now, because it's current stand is the same height as the furniture that has been ordered. The old TV (may it rest in peace,) huge speakers, and glass fronted cabinet will not be there. Here are the links:

No, I don't have anything I can use, but buying something is not a problem. I don't mean to say I can just afford anything, but once I have settled on an idea, I can look for how to do it economically. Spending a little is not a problem. If I just raise everthing, it's going to get above the other art work, doors and windows around the room and the room will be out of balance. The height of what's there now is just right.

Okay, we got the room all cleared out (and then refilled up!) this weekend. When my camera battery recharges I'll be in here looking for placement ideas. The room just fills so full and crowed. There HAS to be a better way to put the stuff in there!!
Also need some color suggestions, I was going to use yellow ginham, but my crib and stuff is "natural" colored, and I'm afraid it will look washed out, I'll take some pics holding up the farbic and see what ya'll think. Though I found some super cute "perfect" fabric this weekend, just waiting a week to find out if I can get it or need to go a little more "girly". So....in short...stay tuned...I'll be back!! 
Thanks Sarah, I just didnt want to overwhelm anyone with baby talk, some folks are sensitive to that so I was just checking!

I agree...I wouldn't do the white line....if you want a chair rail then do a chair rail, but the illusion of one really is nothing more then a cheap version. While I always look for cheaper ways to do things, I still don't want them to LOOK cheap...that to me defeats the purpose of saving money...kwim? (Plus chair rails are pretty easy and cheap to put up anyway)
No I wasn't thinking of it as a cheaper way. Just an alternative. I've done rooms (not in my house) with blue on the bottom, yellow stripe in the middle, white on top. And it looks really good. But maybe that's because it's the white that ends up on top? The stripe was maybe 6-8" tall. Because of the change in fabrics and bedding, there is a white/off-white color in the bedding. I guess ultimately my question is...would it look bad to have oak chair rail with most likely all cherry furniture? If it wouldn't, that's what I'll do. If it would, then I need to find an alternative.
Zippy- I'm not sure I'm getting this completely. I thought I did and then re-read your post and wasn't so sure. Basically everything would stay the same except swapping out the tv/entertainment systems? And then you're wondering how to redecorate around it?
Erin- like I said, can't wait to see your pictures tomorrow! What all do you have for furniture pieces in there?

We have a crib (of course), a full size dresser, a changing table (because it was FREE), and a futon-since we had no where to go with it and didnt want to get rid of it, plus it could come in handy for late nights with sick a sick baby, since it folds down into a bed.

I can also see it looking good in a contemporary styled room. I've had it in my mind you were going for a more traditional look, but if contemporary is your style and you are doing something like a 6-8 in stripe, I can see it looking good. That assumption affected my comment earlier about not likeing the white stripe... you also may find that you want to paint a more beige line to lessen the contrast between the brown and green... but it depends on what you are going for as your end product and what you use to balance the stripe. The oak and cherry just have to be seen next to each other to determine if they will look good. We have "antique cherry" and it goes well with red oak. We also have some "standard dark cherry" that isn't as pretty with oak. You just have to look at the undertones. It's the same thing I was speaking of earlier about choosing tans/browns to coordinate, except most stains are facrory mixed, so you can't check the formula to compare toners- you have to do it by eye.

I knew that would be confusing...sorry!
We will be keeping the new TV, the new stereo, and we can keep the wall decor, if it will work. We are also getting the furniture to set the TV on and house the new sound equipment. So the wall in question will have the TV stand w/ the TV on top and the subwoofer with whatever wall decor. The TV stand is the same height as what the TV rests on now, so the TV height is where it will be.
We will be getting rid of the old TV (may it rest in peace,) the glass fronted stereo cabinet, the two huge speakers.
I can use the mirror and planters, or I don't have to. For the rest of the room, they are perfectly placed. I do like them, but if I raise them, they get too high for the rest of the room. If I just turn the mirror, then I have two rectangles (the TV and the mirror) stacked on top of each other and lose the height. So I need some ideas for what I can do on that wall that will aprox. take up the same space they take up currently.
If it's still too confusing, I might just need to wait until the TV stand comes in, we get the old stuff given away, and them repost new pictures with my question. I don't plan on having it all perfect the second the TV gets put on the stand anyhow. Once I find what direction I want to go with the decor, it will take time to find it in the right colors and price range.

Okay, well I have taken down all the walpaper that needs to come down. Dad took off all the wood trim upstairs around the windows and along the floors. And he took down the plaster on two of the walls. The drywall will be going up starting Thursday. We the guy gets one room done we will go in and start painting before he puts the wood trim back on. Plus we will take up all the carpet before the trim because there are beautiful wood floors that will need to be cleaned.
Today we bought new ceiling fans for the bed rooms, a light for the hall, primer and ceiling paint and vinal (sp?) tiles for the kitchen and bathroom floors on the main floor.
I'm really stoked to get all this work going. I still need to choose my colors for painting the rooms. I'm thinking I may try to do some faux painting like sponging or rag rolling (but using a "rag roller" rather than trying to do it with an actual rag.

One idea Zippy, you could paint a larger square of accent color to hang the mirror in the center of...makes an impact and makes the piece look larger without having to raise it and make your other pieces look out of whack.

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of painting something. I still don't see how I could work the mirror in, though, unless I hung it sideways. If I did that, I'm afraid it would look funny with the rectangle of the mirror and the rectangle of the TV one on top of the other.

Okay...here are pics.
My questions are....d
1) Do you see a better room arrangement layout? We moved stuff around last night and this is better than we had.
2) Do you think Yellow Gingham for bedding will look too washed out with the natural colored wood? I'll try to take a pic holding it up to it.
I DO think the yellow gingham for curtains would be SUPER cute. Though I am thinking about THIS fabric accented with the yellow. I already have THIS and THIS and THIS fabric, however the blue doesnt really match and I am not sure how it will blend with the yellow. What do ya'll think? (of course alot of this is contingent on the sex of the baby...a girl I'll add some different stuff, but I am just brainstorming with what I have...I'd like to do blue and yellow whatever the sex).
The futon staying for a couple of reasons, 1) we dont know what else to do with it and hate to sell it and 2) it could serve as a guest bed if needed 3) it might come in handy for nights with a sick baby, or fussy baby, or late night feedings, and such. I plan to recover it, or at least put a more matching quilt or throw over it, still on the hunt for the "perfect" thing. Open to suggestions. I was thinking about making a quick quilt, just some big blocks, machine quilted, and throw over it, that way it be an instant blanket for those late nights. I'll also find/make matching pillows.

I plan to use the Normal Rockwell prints I found the other day and I am going to make some wooden letters with the baby's name for one wall. Never thought of Little Rascals, I bet i could find some cute stuff there! Great Idea!!!
