Thanks, Jessica! Hey, that's a good idea, and I do have some extra doilies I could pull out and put there!

OK...the kitchen.....it's not totally done yet....still have seven cabinet doors to finish painting, but the ones we have done are up (I still have to fix some scuff marks on them from hubby moving them around over and over, but now they are up and won't be damaged again!!!). We are also about to invest in a refrigerator (thread about that in H/G folder) and are looking for a used table we can purchase to put in there in the big empty eat in area....but as it is right now here are pics of it so far (ignore the floor...needs to be mopped and I can't right now and hubby just had knee surgery....so it needs a good scrubbing...also ignore the hole in the ceiling in one pic...hubby in the attic the other day....so now we have to do a patch job on that.) Before pics (taken when we were looking at the house, so not that good)... PIC 1 PIC 2 PIC 3 Progress pics... PIC 1 PAINT CHIP COLOR After pics..... PIC 1 PIC 2 PIC 3 PIC 4 PIC 5 PIC 6 PIC 7 PIC 8

Looks good, Sarah! The whole room sure does look cozier than when you bought it! I love the triangle valance. The texture of the fabric is interesting.

I don't have my sewing machine right now, so they are tacked up there with just staples....but once I get my sewing machine fixed I am going to sew them up right and hang them on a rod. The windows just looked so bare though without them...so since I knew it would be a few months til I could get then sewn (my mom is bringing me her machine when she comes for the new baby's birth at the end of June) I figured I didn't want to wait to get them at least up there. Staples will come out easily...lol. Until I get my sewing machine I still have sheets hanging on the windows in the living room and the girls room...so at least it isn't sheets!!!

We're doing a little redecorating. It's a really slow process and I can't just run to Target, Walmart or Home Depot. We have Walmart and Home Depot but they are different here in Mexico than in the states. Last week I picked up some drapes for a few rooms and am looking forward to getting them up! Yesterday I worked painting white over the forest green ceiling trim and a myrtle green wall in the guest room. I found out that our flat ceiling paint by Gideon(?) is different from the Dutch-boy white paint I can buy here at Home Depot. The Dutch-boy is much brighter and the other brand has a grey tint. Strange!

We have to drill, use a wall hanger/it's a plastic plug, and then use a screw or nail. You can nail some items but if they're heavy, you'd better use a drill. It's fun and frustrating down here. I keep bringing in more US stuff. I'm working on things. It's so dirty here! Girls, you have NO IDEA! Our home is 192 meters that could be wet mopped daily because it's so dirty right now.

I am sure we have hair marks on several places...and we had to wash one of them cause she just wouldn't leave the door alone when it was wet.

Ok ladies, I just need opinions. Eventually (once the church is built so our basement can then be finished so our guest room can then move to the finished basement ) I will need to start working on the baby's room. Here are the "things": 1. We are not finding out the gender. 2. I truly do want gender neutral. So many things claim to be gender neutral and are actually either pretty boyish or pretty girlish. It's easier to go more boyish and have a girl than the other way around, but I digress... 3. I am not a big fan of cartoony/kiddy prints or themes. That's just me. I'm more of a classic decorator. 4. I don't necessarily need to make this room just a "nursery." If it will grow with the baby, great. If not, that's ok too, as we will hopefully have more kids. 5. I'm not a big spender. But most of you on here aren't either. I found THIS set and liked it for a few days. Now I'm not so sure. I think part of the appeal was the "awww" factor, since my mom used to call me "Sweet Pea" all the time. I think I'm over that. I also think the prices for this stuff are ridiculous. I wouldn't buy it myself, and I can't really justify someone else buying it for me either. Then I was thinking, maybe I could do a mocha chocolate color (similar to Sarah's kitchen) and a lighter tan color. Do one wall of thick stripes (maybe 12-ish inches wide???) and the other walls the lighter color. Or do the thick stripes up to a chair rail and a lighter color on top? The trim in our house in oak colored. Dh mentioned the possibility of painting the trim in that room white if we need to. Anyway, the idea with this was then once we have the baby, we could accent with pink or blue, and we could reaccent as needed for future babies. But then I was thinking....how bad would it look to do the mocha/tan with green (either mint green? brighter green?) accents? Here are pictures of the room right now. The walls are kind of bare...this is the room BIL and SIL moved out of. Right now it's a pale purple color. Which would be great for a girl, but I have not guarantees. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Any expert opinions?

I love the chocolate/ mint green color scheme. I also like the chocolate with pink or blue... any would work. I'm not a fan of accent walls, so I say don't do one wall with stripes. It's hard to keep an accent wall balanced most of the time. I vote for doing the stripe under the chair rail. Just remember whatever furniture you place in the room will reduce the amount of lower wall space that is seen. I would leave the oak chair rail, if possible. It would be good if you could get a general color scheme together and then pick out the bedding. You can coordinate the pain colors around the oak and fabric since those two things are the "hard things."

If I go with this color scheme, I don't think I will buy an actual bedding set. Just sheets, blankets, etc. that go with the color scheme. the bedding sets....you need to decide if it's even worth it to you to get the full set. Sometimes it's just easier to make a blanket (or buy a single one) and get the other things or make them. Are you going to use the baby bed bumper? If not then I wouldn't suggest getting the whole bedding set. (If you don't know about if you will use it or not, ask in the pregnancy thread about the bumpers..>Donna has some info on those and why not to use them)
