I'm *trying* to - actually I just took a few minute break to look at some materials for the discussion I must have tonight. I'm giving an overview of Emergency Management to our group - for about 60-90 minutes on Saturday. But, in conjunction with what I'm doing, there is SO much more we need to learn - I'm the only one with the education in the group - the rest all just want to go out onto the front lines and respond to international disasters. A few have military background, so that's cool - but it's still not the same.
Anyway, I just downloaded over 50MB of stuff. LOLOL
Okay, so this stuff gets me excited. I'm a geek.

I think they have stuff for law enforcement, so I'm certain it would pertain to prisons. I'll have to take a look. They are all free courses - what I'm going to do is give the overview of it, and then send them to the site so they can do them on their own, if they so choose. There are about 40 courses at present, with new ones being developed all the time.

Not that your training will be boring Lisa....just most of that stuff is to me.....
I am more of a learn as you go type gal.........

Which is fine, but unless you have the basics before you go - it can get dangerous, especially into some of the areas where we go.
Down the road, we're supposed to get trained/certified to carry a weapon - since potentially we can go into highly volatile areas (think Myranmar right now). We've also had self-defense training, and some other stuff that was before my time. My "mission" with this group is to stay behind and work on the logistics. While I'd love to be on the front lines, that's not my gifting. I'll go - at times. But mainly I will stay behind and organize/orchestrate the trips, etc.
It was humbling when the director told me that as of two months ago, the group has been at a stand-still as to what direction they want to go (only a year old), and then I come along.

but scary - that's a lot of responsibility - but I have the blessings of the pastor, so that makes it okay.
Speaking of training, I'm doing another one on the 31st for a hurricane conference - 45 minutes about how you deal in the aftermath of the storm when ALL landmarks, signs, etc have been blown away. How do you get around? What options are available to you when there is no electricity? What do you do? How do you survive?
Now THAT'S going to be fun - I have a friend who went through Andrew and was in Cutler Ridge - the community that was basically wiped off the map.

Okay - it's 81 degrees, with about a 10mph breeze, and about 60% humidity. For FL in May, that's PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!

No, actually drove to get lunch - but when I came back in - was able to park and sit with the windows wide open. I take a later lunch since I go to hospice afterwards and don't get dinner, then I'm off to church straight from there - so it'll be balance bars for the rest of the day when I get hungry. I listen to a program at 1pm, so I am in the car to do that.
