ANyone have a cat that chewed on things??? I've had cats before, but never one that chewed on things. I figured he's teething. He's ched on our blinds, magazines, paper and wants to eat dog food! I think he confused. He's a 7 mo. old Ragdoll and too cute.

Yes, we have one. We think she was taken too early from her mother. She seemed to be almost nursing.

I have a few bitemarks on my blinds too... On my kitchen blinds, I finally replaced them, then put stick tape on the sill so they keep away...

Does the sticky tape work? It didn't work for me. I have a few bite-marks on the blinds, but I just leave the blinds up far enough for him to peer out any time he wants... in all rooms but the bedroom. *hehe*

Shedding!! I've been letting him go outside a little more often because he's so miserable being inside... but the shedding is terrible now! Is there some vitamin I should be giving him to help?

HERE'S a cute kitty picture... I was going to post some Mean Kitty YouTube videos the other day, but the guys uses a few words that might be a bit offensive. Why do people think they have to use bad language??

Edited 'cause I learned how to re-caption the pictures!!

Sticky tape works very well with my girls. They HATE anything stuck to their paws and they learn very fast how to avoid it (ie - stay off the sill in question).

Hello catlovers,

I've been away and didn't update on my kitty-adoption.
It went very well, and darling Chopin has now lived here for 2 1/2 months

He's such a joy and I love him so much! He's so fluffy and soft and beautiful and now I'm getting one more!

His name will be Cello and I'll get him in about a month!

Chopin's really talkative, but thankfully doesn't wake up before I do, he sleeps all night in a drawer in my bedroom!

I also have to not have my curtains down, he will climb them and would do it all night long, if they weren't up.

Here's some shots of my creamy friend:

Chopin drinking

working at the computer

sleeping

more sleeping

relaxing

snacking

What a cutie pie!

Just a word of caution, we have a cat that likes to sit on Linz's laptop and broke her keyboard with it's weight.

He seems tiny, but he weighs about 6 lbs
I guess he's just built that way! Of course he's getting cuter every day, but when I look at the grownup cats of his breed, they too have that kitten-quality about them!

He's such a little band-aid, he sticks to me all the time, and when I'm at the computer, he lies on top, with his head on my hand or just - like right now - beside it on the table and looks irrisistable with his eyes closed, so I can't resist cuddling him

Our baby kitties that were born on St. Patrick's Day are still nursing! I've never heard of animals nursing that long.

Tut's latest thing is that he has decided he likes to sit on my mouse pad. Sometimes even while I'm using it. So in the wee hours of this morning, I hear him knocking the wireless mouse off onto the floor so he can have the mouse pad all to himself. Now I'm going to have to put the mouse pad and the mouse where he can't get to them because I have to recalibrate the mouse every time he knocks it off, and he gets cat hair all over the mouse pad. I can't decide whether this is a particular brand of Siamese weirdness or just general kitty weirdness.

Lucy likes to lay on my mouse pad too, and she'll put her paw on my hand or arm if she thinks I'm moving around too much. I have to wipe the fur off of the bottom of the mouse once in a while or it won't work right. She hasn't done it lately since everyone is home from school now.

Sometimes it is a genuine challenge to type on my computer between my 3 girls...

They also have an uncanny ability to sit in just the perfect spot to block my view of things like my TV and such...

Currently own 2 cats (will be adding a 3rd one next spring). I'm into showing pedigree and mixed breed cats; all my cats have been in shows at one time or another - many earning Grand Championship.

NONE of my cats has ever been microchipped - they are all indoor cats and do not go outside (other then to shows). I understand the concept, but I'm against microchipping for Biblical reasons.

Part of end times involves "the mark" - I believe the mark has a connection to microchipping. If you cannot buy/sell without it, that makes sense that eventually people will also be microchipped! First they start with a simple thing of acceptance for pets, then slowly pass it on to people. I've heard they are considering microchipping elderly or patients with Alzhimers to help "track" them....beware.

Does that mean my cats are going to hell?

Sorry... probably not very funny but I think sometimes we Christians need to lighten up a little... If we keep our eyes on Jesus, no one is going to "trick" us into getting "the mark".

A microchip is nothing more than a tool, like a tag on a collar, to help locate your cat if it's lost. Unlike a tag, it can't fall off or choke the cat (or dog). Sorry, but I can't even begin to comprehend how you could go from that to "the mark".

Muchie says that if your kitties are going she will see them there, cos she's been chipped too

I can't comprehend it either to be honest.

But then some people have said that the Euro is part of the end times too as it's taken so many countries into one world currency. But I'll bet there are people who are anti the microchip for animal who've used it.

Kath, is that your Lucy in your profile pic? Looks like she's being downright considerate compared to my Tut -- he starts out at the edge of the mousepad but keeps scooting over and curling around until I have no room on the pad to move my mouse! And right now he's in my lap and is scratching his chin with my knuckles as I type.

Yes, she likes to keep me company :)

She does that too, and I end up using the desk instead of the mouse pad. She just keeps moving and shifting her head till she has all the room.

Sometimes if she considers that I'm moving the mouse too much she will put her paw on my arm and sort of gently dig in to try and stop me.

Miss Sadie LOVED to curl up and nap on top of my monitor when I was playing on the computer. I don't think she ever forgave me for getting an LCD monitor... Between she and Miss Phoebe, it can be an enormous challenge to type and such...

I know that it's not really hot here right now, but it's hotter than it was 6 months ago.... but it's now that Munchie has decided that she needs to come sleep next to me. She's snoozing on my bed as I type. I know that as soon as I head for bed, she will jump down, wait until I'm settled and then jump back and curl up beside me...

But she looks so sweet when she curls up and looks at me with those big eyes of hers...

How do you mellow out a kitten or at least get them to trust people?

I'm talking about our almost 4 month old kittens that were treated rather roughly by a child. For about the last month or so, they have ran every time they've seen a human, unless the human has food for them.

You give them time and space. Munchie was nearly a year when I got her and she hid for quite some time before she started appearing. I let her be. Her food, water and litter box were all near her to begin but I started to move the food more into the open. I used fresh chicken stock to tempt her out as well (don't need much, it's the smell that does it). When she started to come out, I got toys (the kind on sticks) so I could play with her (and get her nearer me) and moved her food to beside my seat.

When she was ok with that, I lay on the sofa (my seat) and put meat on my hand and put my hand on the floor around the corner of the sofa so that she would get used to my hand (and smell) a little. I tried it with dried but she figured that she could just paw the biscuits out of my hand! From there I moved my hand to infront of the couch and used my other hand to just gently touch her.

It just takes time and patience. It helps if they have a safe place to go to when there are people around where no one is allowed to move, look in, or go too ~ Munchie's hiding place was behind an armchair and then (as she became braver) a bookcase.

Thanks agapetos. One of them did come out of her shell a little bit. She will be in the same room with adults and has started allowing adults to pet her if they move slowly and gently.

Way back, when Munchie was still pretty much in hiding, she would come out if there was something she could smell that good to eat ~ but I had to stay frozen on my seat initially. If I as so much moved my hand, she'd run for cover. It seems like half the time I have to shove her to get her off me

Daft bat

One of the kitties found a new home today and it looks like one more may find a new one tomorrow. I'm keeping the third one. His name is Toulouse. (I think that how his name is spelled. It's after the orange, mischievous tabby on Aristocats)
