This morning, I let Lucy inside after having been out all night. It was a warm night. I made sure she had a full bowl of food and fresh water, but she still kept bothering me for something. She didn't want to go back outside and there is only so much food you can put in one dish.

My wife got up and asked "Did you put ice cubes in her water dish?" I replied that I didn't and I didn't think she would notice.

She did. My wife gave her ice cubes and she was content.

They're so particular about their water, aren't they? If mine could have running water all the time, he'd be perfectly content... stale water that's been in the bowl two hours... *blech*

Same here, they love it when we turn the tub on low so they can drink out of it.

Tell me about it! I give them fresh water everyday, but it's never good enough...

My cat too

I did buy one of those pet fountains, it scared her and looked like a little toilet. So I returned it

I have some friends who have those and their cats LOVE them... I'm afraid my girls would either be afraid of them or want to just play...

There are recirculating water dishes that you can buy. I saw one in a catalog.

I have two Traditional Siamese littermates, Sophie and Riley (guess where I came up with my screen name, huh?) Anyway, they are currently only 5 months old but are already the sweetest little furbabies I ever had! Also I had heard Siamese are intelligent, and boy that is no lie! They are always up to something and figuring out new ways to go about getting into things faster than I can figure ways to keep them out!
I just love em though!

Anyway, I haven't read through this whole thread, but did anyone else see or hear anything about the litter box that you connect to your drain lines and it kind of acts as a self-flushing litter box/toilet?

I saw it in a magazine the other day. I honestly cannot remember what the magazine was. I have read a few Sky Mall magazines lately. It is possible I saw it there.

My family has a lot of cats! We have four homes (soon to be five!) and we have cats in each of them, so we have over twenty cats! My wife and my sons each have their special cats, and I have one whom I got when he was five weeks old, and now he is 22 years old! His name is Loki, and I am a little worried about him because he is in Copenhagen, and I am in Roma right now and won't be back for another week. He does pretty good for an old man! But I hope he is okay until I return. At his age (which I think is over 100 years old in human years!) it is sort of a day to day thing. But he is very happy and peaceful and content, and gets around well and eats, and is not in pain. I do miss him though, and my sons are eager to see him again too!

Ah, I found it online! It's called the CatGenie! I'm kind of fanatical about a clean litter box so I don't know if I would trust this to do a good job, but it's a neat idea at the very least!

ANyone have a cat that chewed on things??? I've had cats before, but never one that chewed on things. I figured he's teething. He's ched on our blinds, magazines, paper and wants to eat dog food! I think he confused. He's a 7 mo. old Ragdoll and too cute.

Stampinlady, mine chews on EVERYTHING and he's 8 months old!! He chews on my shoes, boxes, paper, books... he just wants to put holes into anything new! Also, he doesn't like soft cat food... guess he just wants to chew. I just try to keep things out of his way and give him things that's acceptable (NOT an easy task). So far, cardboard boxes work the best. Also, the laser light helps distract him when he wants to bite something interesting.

Right now, he has pushed out the screen to my window and is looking outside (it's raining). I just started letting him go outside because he's absolutely miserable inside... so I can finally open my windows. My poor landlady... I need to replace two screens before she comes back.

Do you have a picture? I've heard ragdolls are really cute!!

I have a twenty year old female gray tabby named Chessie. My nephews gave her that name because, as a kitten, she looked exactly like the kitten in the Chessie System railroad logo.
She loves Nacho Cheese flavor Doritos and Pringles of any flavor. But at her age, her tummy can't handle them anymore. She also insists on ice cold drinking water. If I have a glass of ice cold bottled water she gets up in my chair and drinks her fill before I can get to it. But I haven't reached the point where I fill her dish with Evian.

She isn't microchipped. Mainly because she's exclusively a house cat. She's never been outside and doesn't go anywhere unless it's to the vet for her annual shots. If she was an outdoor cat I wouldn't hesitate to have her microchipped.

I once had a cat that insisted on chewing on electrical cords. I let him and once he got through the insulation, he quit.

Hi, Paulie. That reminds me... mine chews through my phone charger cord and the cord that comes with my brand new camera to upload the photos!!! I don't yet have a suitable diversion for that! And unfortunately, he won't have an "electrifying" experience to break him from it, either.

Too bad, that works the first time. You might try rubbing alcohol or white vinegar all over the things he chews on. The cat I have now runs from the smell of either.

When I was a teenager, we had a puppy who did that...

He didn't learn from it either...

As far as chewing, Miss Asia loves to chew up cardboard... Makes quite the mess too...

Deb, I was wondering how you were doing with the Ragdoll. They are too cute!

I had ours chew on my Moccasins. I was not happy about that! It's just a baby thing, he will outgrow it. Does he have plenty of toys to chew on? Like Phosey said, even cardboard.

I got them the mice with the catnip in it, which worked well.

I have a big jar of catnip, and I bury corks in it for a couple of weeks, and then give to the kitties. They love them! Thor

my calico has chewed on the strap on my nice designer purse. So I guess I will buy the cheap ones while I still have her. she's chewed on the corners of some boxes and a few other things..she didn't get sick, so don't worry.

she's not a kitten either.

My Asia not a kitten either... I call her Miss Destructo (among other not so endearing names...). However, at least it's usually just bags & cardboard...

The dog on the other hand is lucky she survived puppyhood 'cause there were a number of occasions I was tempted to do her in... I still can't leave certain items anywhere within her reach...

Kath, thanks for asking. I just love this cat!!! He follows us around like a small child, gets along with our Golden really well and loves water. I really like this breed, even the breeder commented on on friendly he was when we took him in to be neutered/declawed.

Yes, he doesn have a box and some toys, but maybe I should get him a few other things. Dh was not happy when he saw the blinds chewed up. I raise the ones in the family room ro he doesn't get tempted.

I have a few bitemarks on my blinds too... On my kitchen blinds, I finally replaced them, then put stick tape on the sill so they keep away...
