Hey FPK, that reminds me, how has His Highness settled back in? Any more long trips away from home or is he sticking close?

I went to Petsmart to pick up more food, litter, etc. Right in the front was one of the local rescues with a bunch of cats... It makes me soooo sad. I want to take them all home, but I'm at my pet limit right now...

Oh, he's settled right back in with no apparent ill effects from his adventure. I got him fattened back up and actually had to back down the amount of food I was giving him because he got a little too plump. After the weather warmed up, he went right back to his old trick of trying to escape out the front door. (I had the landlord work on the back one so it shuts more securely.) I can tell he's getting old, though, because he spends a lot more time sleeping on the couch or bed and doesn't come to greet me at the door as consistently as he used to. He was talking to me rather insistently this morning while I was in the bathroom, and I said, "What's the matter with you? Are you crazy?" He replied, "ROWWWW!!!!!!!" I had to laugh. It turned out he was trying to tell me that his water bowl was empty.

CherishedbyGod, my kitty, Lucy, is a barn cat we rescued from the other cats. A few years ago, my husband chased off one of the neighbor cats who was over here around our garage. The next day Buffy, our sheltie, started hovering around the garage and wouldn't leave till we came over and we found Lucy, she was very small but had her eyes opened. We started giving her milk and thought we'd just make her an outdoor cat to try and keep the mouse population down. When she got old enough she got the same Iams the indoor kitties got. We could tell she wasn't a good mouser.

As she got older the other cats from across the road would attack her and she'd sleep up in the tree every night. It got to the point where my husband just could not stand the fact she was being attacked, so he brought her in, she was probably 4-5 months by that point. She is the most affectionate cat we have. (we have 4)

When we get mice in the house she still doesn't go after them. But one of the other kitties does so I guess she feels she doesn't need to.

I don't know how true it is, but I have always heard that if the mom is a mouser and teaches the kittens to be one then they will be...but if mom isn't or doesn't teach them then they won't be.

Oh my kitty loves these items. That's why I have a cardboard box for her to sleep in by my beside.

Our kitties like it when Larry brings home a cardboard box from Sams club because they usually have a cut out on the side, so if we tip it upside down it's like a cave. Usually we'll have one cat inside and another sitting on top waiting for the other to come out so he can pounce!

FPK, glad they fixed that door!

Sarah, It's possible but I'm not sure if Baxter was taught or was just born a mouser. They are (Baxter and Nico) Ragdolls, so they are sort of bred to be, well, not lazy but sort of like limp. Baxter does not act his breed but Nico does.

Ohhh, how sweet! That is a precious story! I love that picture of your cat that is in the ?Spider plant. Pretty kitty.

That is funny you have a Buffy, also

I used to have four. The two barn kitties and two older Siamese. Now just the barn kitties. My Buffy, two years ago got a foxtail caught in his lung. I almost lost him. He had to have part of his lung removed. It was so sad but he fully recovered...

You remember that avatar? Yes, that is Baxter in the spider plant. Let me pull that out out...

I'm not sure if this is the one you saw, but it's one of them. Baxter is in the background sitting in the swedish ivy, he liked to sit there and chew on the spider plant, and Nico is looking back at the plant. They loved that thing.

Ah! If you are talking about my profile picture, those are my nieces and nephews on my wedding day. I wanted to get married in pink, I don't like white, pink is my favorite color. I'd put a caption on my profile but I'm sort of illiterate in that area. I'll have to ask someone how to do it. Sorry for the confusion! I have 2 boys (19 married and in college, 17 in highschool)and a girl (15 in highschool).

And you're right, we do have a lot of animals! We have 4 cats, 2 Ragdolls in my avatar, 1 Bengal, I'll post her tomorrow, and Lucy the farm cat. Then we have Buffy the sheltie and 2 Arabian horses! I really want an Alpaca but my dear husband, who would probably end up taking care of it for me, says no. *big heavy put upon sigh*

I thought I had a housefull! I have 3 cats and a cocker spaniel. I love them all, but after the cocker is gone, I don't think I'll get another dog. Too much work...

Whoops! Yes, that is the picture I was talking about. No problem. Pink is my favorite color, also.

What is an Alpaca? Now, I am envious! 2 Arabian horses! I have always wanted an Arabian horse. I could have one on my property now, but my back prevents me from riding. I fear that, if I purchased one, I would ride one of those beauties and make my back worse.

Do you have a picture of one of the horses? Or, better yet, you with the horses

Sorry for the poor formating...

They also ALL like to sleep on my bed at night... It's amazing how a queen size bed can be too small for a single gal...

My mom would love to have alpacas. I'm afraid my dad would end up doing a lot of the care though which probably explains why they don't have them...

I imagine! Only Lucy sleeps with me, and if Linz is with me then only Nico. One time Lucy jumped on the bed and put on the brakes when she saw Nico. She slept right where she landed, half off the bed.

That's what's funny about my girls. They don't all get along, but they'll each find their "space"... Which also explains why I have to little room left for me... If they all snuggled up it would be one thing... This picture should illustrate the problem...

hahahhahah, you don't have any room for your legs!

Larry has one rule about the dog, she cannot be on the bed. he does not want her carrying in all the dust and stuff from outside onto the sheets.

My critters are way too spoiled... I did make my dog stay on the floor when she was a wee puppy (ie - prior to potty training if you know what I mean...) but I love snuggling with my furries so I don't think I could ever kick them off...

...Even if I have no room left for me...

Hey all! As some of you know I'm not all that fond of our kitty cat. Of course the feeling is mutual. The cat doesn't like me either.

BUT occassionally Mr. Meepo will surprise me. Recently he has become one of those indoor/outdoor kitty cats, and this morning he was out for awhile. Hubby and I were sitting outside talking about the days agenda and Mr Meepo comes walking around the corner with a good sized critter clampped in his jaws. We couldn't tell what it was at first, but when Meepo dropped it we saw that it was a cottontail rabbit. - Guess I don't have to worry about the little bouncy critters getting into and dining on my garden. I so wish he hadn't done THAT tho. Bunny was still breathing tho we knew it wasn't going to last long. I left the scene and hubby put Bunny out of his misery and burried him under one of the lilac bushes.

I'm just glad the kids weren't awake to see that one!

Blessings,

Garsy

I had a caught when I was a teen who was the king of bunny killers... And there was an abundant supply out where we lived...
