Yup it's a Peninsula. We just completed a small tabloid with maps and guide to Peninsula State Park-Door County<--click

Door County is one of those places/destinations that a lot of Illinois people make the trek to also. There are some beautiful shops and neat events that go on there year round really, but it is now through October that is it's busiest time. Neat town/city names like Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, Sturgeon Bay...

It's funny that you should put that link up... that is one of them I checked out last night.

We are staying in B&Bs in Sturgeon Bay tonight and Fish Creek Sunday-Tuesday. We might go see a band tonight from Chicago "The Henhouse Prowlers" <- I think you can click on that

Anyway.... I gotta get in the shower and get ready for the day and weekend!!!

Have a great one!! See y'all Tuesday! (or Wednesday)

I love the DOORS.

LOL Momma_bee!

I also had a visual of looking at a map and seeing all styles of doors standing up on the penninsula.

Great link to info in the county, Sharon! It seems like they really do have an open door policy.

Well, Sheila will be there now and having a wonderful time!!! Whooppee!

Our weekend was WONDERFUL!!!!!

For now, since I can't post pictures here, I will post links to pics that are online and just tell "highlights".

Saturday afternoon we arrived at the White Lace Inn in Sturgeon Bay. (The Main House is where we had a full breakfast Sunday morning)
http://www.whitelaceinn.com/rates.htm#garden We stayed in the Garden House *7. It was a very charming and relaxing room. We had a fireplace, although we didn't light it since we got back to the room kind of late. We went out to eat and then went to see a bluegrass band. It wasn't the band that they had first sent us info on... it was a different one. They played at an old theater that has been turned into an Art/Performance "Studio", I guess you'd call it. It's called the "Third Avenue Playhouse". The band was "Bent Grass". They were a lot of fun. They wrote many of their own songs. The members were a carpenter, a medical salesman, a business owner and water dept employee that formed a band back in 2005.

Sunday morning we went for breakfast and then a nice walk before church at 10:00. I will suffice it to say that the church service we went to was a HUGE disappointment. But to avoid any kind of conflict here, that's all I will say on it.

After church we headed up towards Fish Creek. We had a lot of fun stopping at a bunch of different little shops and garden centers on the way up to "just look". We got up there early before check in time so we went and found the cottage, which was so cute! Then we went out to a State Park and drove and walked a 2 mile trail and then walked some more in town....we did A LOT of walking... it was great! Later on we checked in at the White Gull Inn. We had a cottage, "Henriette's Cottage"... http://whitegullinn.com/cottages.html although I WISH it had that loveseat. The one that IS there now was NOT comfortable....but it was STILL a great cottage and VERY nice. I will try to post some more pics somewhere else eventually and make a link to more pics that I took. Along with our two night stay we got two full breakfasts and one meal. We could either do a "fish boil" Sunday night or have a candlelight dinner Monday night. We decided to do the "fish boil" since we had never been to one of those. See here what the history is and what they do: http://whitegullinn.com/fishboil.html It was pretty cool. I guess to be honest, even though I enjoyed it and the fish was good, I probably wouldn't opt for it again since there were bones in the fish and I like baked better. But it was fun. The breakfasts were GREAT!!!

As I said, we did A LOT of walking.. which I wanted to do since I KNEW I was overeating and needed all the help I could get...LOL! I know I walked a lot... I have two blisters on two of my toes to show for it!! This morning we went back to the state park and did a three mile trail that was beautiful and then we climbed a really tall overlook tower that gave a spectacular view of Lake Michigan.

OHHHHH.... Monday morning when we were at our breakfast table, Craig saw someone that he said looked a lot like a woman that used to belong to our church. I turned around but she had walked into the next room. I had JUST told him to tell me if he saw this person again... I JUST got done saying that and he says "OH wow...that WAS Gwen because there is Terry!" Sure enough it was the husband of the two talking to a waitress... I got up and went over and gave him a hug and then Gwen came and gave me a hug and asked us to join them when we were done eating...so we did. We knew they had moved "up north" somewhere but had NO idea they have moved THERE!! LOL!! It was such a blessing to sit and talk with them for a while and then they came to see the cottage since they had never seen the inside before and then they took us to their condo and showed us it. SMALL WORLD!!!!

I am sure I am missing so much...but it was just such a blessing!!! Life is good!!

Cool that you saw Gwen and Terry!!
I knew they lived in Door County but wasn't sure where, and figured you probably wouldn't run into them anyway!!
It truly IS a small world. Again, I think it's totally cool. I miss seeing them.

Actually, I'm wondering if they know about Jeff.

They do Sharon, and their hearts go out to you, of course. They were heading to Boston to see Sara Tuesday morning.

Next Tuesday? Hard to believe Sara is so grown up. I see my age slapping me in the face! LOL!

Well.... the wedding day is over.

It was a beautiful day!! Perfect temps... around 74. A tad windy but it was tolerable since we were just apprecative of the warm weather. The service was short and sweet. Not even any music. Adam and Arthur (his twin/best man) stood up "in the front" (by Pastor Dave at the edge of the stage with us facing out into the park) and the girls came out and first Madison walked down... she was so adorable and walked very slowly like Angela had practiced with her at home. About half way down she held the flowers in front of her face because she could hear everyone giggling and saying "how adorable!"... LOL. Then Angela walked down, and then we all stood and Danielle walked down. Pastor Dave did a really nice message and since it was too windy to do the unity candle also gave a nice impromptu message about that as well and about setting it up in their home and using all three candles as a remembrance.... that they are two individual people but they are united in a sacred bond of commitment/unity. (He said it much better than I am) Suffice it to say that he gave a very nice service.

As happy as I am for them at the same time I am sad, disgusted, outraged and often feel close to tears. I suspected it, I pretty much expected it, and Danielle I talked about it before the wedding that it probably was going to happen...but I still have all these emotions that it did. Her dad and his entire family were absent. We had talked that he probably wouldn't be there and on one hand I wanted him there for her, but on the other hand I felt it would be pretty "nervy" for him to come when he did not help AT ALL financially OR physically to get ready. I told her AGAIN that it has NOTHING to do with her... that he just can't see beyond himself. He is in the throws of addiction and even though it doesn't make it right or acceptable, and it's no excuse... it, unfortunately is true and the way it is. He just CAN'T see beyond himself right now... if he ever can someday we will have to wait and see.

Today we went to my nephew's graduation and wouldn't you know it... Ken's nephew (Ken is D's dad) was also graduating and her grandma and grandpa were there! They "couldn't come to the wedding due to health issues"....but they could go to a graduation.

I just don't get it. How could they?

I know the "Christian thing to do" is to forgive them and "love them anyway"....but right now I just want to cry because my daughter doesn't deserve this negligence from that family. I will pray for them and for her and for me....but it's not because I am feeling any kind of Christian love for ANY of them right now!! I will do it because hopefully God will help to soften MY heart towards them and bring me peace.... along with Danielle's.

Tomorrow Danielle and Adam are going to the Brewer's game... it was part of our gift. They have AWESOME seats about 8 rows up from the Brewer's dugout. Danielle said they are going to make a big poster so if anyone watches the game, watch for them!!

Thanks for letting me vent and, of course, I would appreciate any prayers you want to send up for us.

I'm glad the wedding ceremony went so well Sheila. They have made their commitment to each other, before God and that is truly what mattered that day.

I will lift you all in prayer about the rest. (((((Sheila)))))

Glad you had such a wonderful getaway and that Adam's & Danielle's wedding was so beautiful. I read about your dilemma "elsewhere" and am praying with you.

Thanks to those of you who have continued to post here and there in this thread....but I need to let you know that now that "growing season" is here I won't be posting or checking the threads here every day anymore. There is just too much to be done and I can't keep up with two forums regularly.

But I love ya all!

Blessings to you.

(I'll still be "seeing" you, Joy, "elsewhere")

Can't work outside now... we are under tornado, flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings/watches. We are "watching" upstairs for now... if it gets windy we are prepared to head to the basement.

No, Maggie...I wasn't planning to completely "abandon" anyone ... just intending on not checking in as frequently now that garden/flower season is here and want to prepare people that if they post in here I may not see it for days/week, however often I find time to check in. I often feel like I don't have enough time in a day! (I'm SURE I am not alone there!)
