I get the coffee ready the night before and stare at my closet to get some sense of what I'm wearing. I also get out lunch stuff together and keep it all together in the refrigerator so I can grab it in the morning. My morning routine is:
5:30 alarm clock goes off
5:45 roll out of bed
5:45-6:30- shower and get ready
6:30-6:45 read a chapter out of Power of a Praying Wife
6:45-7:30- Breakfast and morning Bible reading with Eric.
7:30- Off to work!

I'm similar to Elastic.
The only I get ready the night before is my daughter and everything she needs for the next day at my mother inlaws. I give her a bath, do her hair and pack her bag the night before. I pick out her outfit also. Then in the morning I dress her and warm a bottle because she's really hungry by the time she gets to my mother in laws.
Now for me. I do my hair first and then have my shower. I stand in the closet searching for something to wear. I usually don't have the right shirt to where with the bottoms or the right bottoms to where with the shirt. It's not that I don't have tops or bottoms to match I've probably already worn them recently. If I have to iron that's done in the morning. I'm working on getting more organized with having everything done the night before.
I always pray before I go to bed to try and get everything out that has happened during the day. Sometimes I do devotionals before bed also. I need to focus in on doing them more often.

Hi Ladies. I would love to join this thread. I am a working wife and mom. God blessed me with a Government job that I was able to go part-time (32 hours a week) after I had DS #1. I have been at my job for almost 20 years (in April), a wife for 18 years, and mom to 2 DS's, ages 16 and 13. I work my 32 hours over 5 days, working 8-3 M-Th and 8-2:30 on Fri. Like many of you, I also do as much as I can the night before. I lay out my clothes and even get my breakfast all ready. Our mornings are a little hectic, but work out well. We only have 1 bathroom and 4 people that need to get out the door. Our routine is: DS #1 - up at 5:30 and right in shower, Me and DS #2 up and DS #2 in shower when #1 is done. I eat and then in shower around 6:30 as DH get up. He gets in shower when I am done. DS #1 leaves at 6:40 to catch bus, DS #2 at 6:55, DH at 7:30 and me at 7:45. What I find hard is after working all day, having the energy to come home and do what I need to do there. Sometimes I feel like going to sleep, but have so much to do. Anyone else feel that way?

Pen pen welcome aboard! We also had a very small place with one bathroom when my boys were the same ages as yours. That always made things interesting! I used to feel the same way after getting home but now that the boys are pretty much independent and it is just hubby and me there is less to do and I feel that way less and less. My job now is mostly sitting so I actually welcome the opportunity to do some things on my feet for a bit when I get home.

About devotions, I have a book called "Life on the Go: Devotions for Busy Moms." I know they make other ones for women. They are very short devotions. I try to read one of those, or a chapter of the Bible before I get out of bed in the morning. Usually I read Proverbs 31 to get myself going in the morning. It really only takes two minutes which is nice since every minute counts for me in the morning (seriously, traffic can be very different within 5 minutes.)

Hey, that's a great idea regarding devotions for busy moms. I'm going to look that up on Amazon. I know what you mean; every minute really does count in the morning (and throughout the day, but the morning in particular..when a minute feels more like a second)...

I read a chapter from my Bible every morning. It only takes a few minutes and if I don't have time to do anything else that day, at least I did something. Finding time to more is, of course, preferable, but not always practical.
I leave early enough that traffic isn't bad even if I'm running a little late, but when I come home, every minute I stay later at school is a longer commute. If I leave at 4:00, I can get home in just over 20 minutes. 4:30 and it will take 30 minutes to get home. After 4:30 and I start thinking I should have just bought dinner from the vending machine and come home after dark I also drive through town rather than taking the highway (even though it's faster) because I don't have a cell phone and if I break down, I want to be within walking distance of civilization 
ETA: I will have to try harder on the devotions once my husband graduates. Right now, with him in seminary, I feel like I'm getting a mini-degree just from listening to him talk all the time He jokes that every time he reads a book, I end up reading it too, because he's constantly making me sit down and listen to something he found interesting or something he wants to talk about.

That would be ideal for me. I need to take a few post graduate classes to be eligible to teach on the college level and I have been thinking about doing that for some time. DH is finishing up his education soon so maybe I can go next. Hopefully, I will have an easier schedule teaching college than working in a corporate office.

Hi, I would like to join this thread.
I have 2 boys, one is nearly 5 and at a church aided school, the other is 2/12.
I work 2 mornings and one full day per week - making a total of 18 hours. Hubby is building his own business(s). 2 web based and one as a joiner. To have me working has supported him to do this, just recently we have got to the point where we can start to save but still not enough for me to give up work. Until 6 months ago I was earning more than him. My youngest goes to a wonderful nursery. Fortunately in my country we get money back for childcare (depending on earnings) up to 90% and this makes a massive difference to me. Its called 'tax credits'. My employer also helps with costs through vouchers which means I actually only have to fork out about £30 per month. I also get expenses for my car so as you can see working makes a big difference to us.
As a working mother one of the things I am learning not to feel guilty about is asking dh to help with chores around the house. He is always happy to help and constantly tells me what a great job I am doing but does like me to tell him what things I need help with. It has been very liberating for me to realise that I am not failing us in some way because I cannot get everything done on my own.
I look forward to hearing your experiences.

HC, I'm pretty sure in the US that we get some sort of tax credit for daycare expenses, but I've never had to claim them so I have no clue...
I feel like I should be pulling out my "wonder woman" cape for the upcoming semester. I have 3 classes, one with a lab, plus work and being a mommy and wife. My goal is to have us in a position financially for me to quit working and focus on school by July, which is when I have kids camp at work and it would make it virtually impossible to do summer classes. Since I can't go full time, I have to go during the summer.

Yes! I was the same way when my husband was in seminary! It was awesome to discuss spiritual matters and wrestle with our own theology and doctrine together. I felt like we got two master degrees for the price of one.

I didn't stay in that study for long after that. Of course, that was also the one that was telling me what a shame it was that I feel like I have to have a job.

lol! I have seen that commercial where all the women are saying "and I will be your bra!" I think that it was for breast cancer awareness - if not it should have been - thats good stuff
