ORIGINAL: 2shaye David A - he will win and tank. The judges will be happy, the little girls will be happy, but those who actually purchase the albums will not support him. He'll be a one hit wonder and fade off into Disney mania where he belongs. Kind of like what happened with Jordin Sparks huh? I don't have anything against David A. personally (I don't think he's terrible, but I don't think he's super great either); I guess one of ther reasons I'm hoping David C. or Syesha wins is that the judges (IMO) are heavily pushing him (kinda like how they did with Fantasia when she wasn't all that great). Kind of like all the winners except Kelly and Carrie. I only started watching AI in season 4, and I had never of Fantasia until she stirred a kerfluffle with her song "Baby Mama." Here's an interview with Mandisa, Chris Sligh, and Phil Stacy that's pretty interesting. I never knew that Phil was a Christian, too. That's cool. Interview with past AI contestants Once again, though, I have to say that Chris irritates me. In the beginning, the contestants talk about what it was like auditioning. Chris says that he actually tried out for seasons 4 and 5 before finally making it in 6. quote:
I only tried out [for Season 6] because a friend told me to. I didn't really care. My band was doing really well and we were starting to get major label interest, but I was like, "I don't need American Idol." There's just something about that statement that gets me. "Well, I didn't REALLY need Idol, you know. My band was about to get signed by a major label, anyway. I just went along because it would be a lark." Wasn't this the guy who, after getting eliminated, said he didn't mind, because he had only done it to get publicity for his band, anyway? So what's the name of his band? Did they get the big contract he thought they were going to get? I've never heard of them.

As far as I know, his band did not get signed to a major record label and Chris Sligh use to live here in Greenville, but now he lives in Nashville. Seacoast Church is where he had his CD coming out party and that is how I heard about it on Fox news. Everything stated above is true, he just wanted some free publicity.

Jordin Sparks album was a slow sale because they expected it to have a great sell during the first week but she's getting more air time than ever on the radio. Her duet with Chris Brown "No Air' plays a lot on the radio station that I listen to and ...okay...radio disney so she's getting more exposure than ever so I would not say that her career tanked. She's a great singer and she'll do just fine.

Did anyone see Jason on Tonight Show with Leno last night? They did a parody of a Geico commercial with Huey Lewis standing with him. I'm not sure if Jason even knew who Huey Lewis was.

Cool Article! I knew all 3 of them were Christians! Phil's MIL works at my kid's dentist office!!
In defense of Chris Sligh, I think you need to take the quote you listed in context of the rest of the paragraph. This is what his whole answer was to the question about auditioning: quote:
"It is the hardest, when you have just 15 to 30 seconds to impress somebody a cappella. I only tried out [for Season 6] because a friend told me to. I didn't really care. My band was doing really well and we were starting to get major label interest, but I was like, "I don't need American Idol." Wise as my friend was, he said, "Look, I'll pay for you to go now because I really think that you'll regret this if you don't." So I went thinking it'd just be for fun, and maybe I'd get to meet another famous person out of it. I was completely goofing off and being silly [during the audition process], even joking around with the judges before I started singing—and then I made it through. I think it was partly because I was not nervous that time, but I really have no other explanation than to say it was God's timing. I had done it two years in a row thinking I have to make it on American Idol. Then I tried out on a whim without hanging my hopes on it, and God opened so many other doors beyond what I could have seen." I really think Chris has a good heart, but is a joker & can put his foot in his mouth sometimes. BTW - I've heard some of his CD & thought it was really good!!

Here's an article regarding David Archuletta's dad that came out today. I mentioned earlier that even Naomi Judd made comments on his Dad during his Star Search season. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,354852,00.html

David A's dad according to Fox news has been banned from the set. Also, in defense of Syesha, I think what she felt was real because she have come so far from those dismal bottom three performances to be one of the final three constestants standing. That is a accomplishment for someone who people thought that should not deserve in the final three. Yes, she has a hard road to climb because of various fan bases, but when you accomplish something like this, it says something about a person's detemination. I also believe her tears were real because some said they were fake. I disagree because when a person who had not been born when the song was recorded, that means that this person has been realizing that this song has been a culumination of a stuggle, the struggle to be in this postion. Then again, people said she should be on Broadway because she will tank on recording an R&B CD--let me tell you folks something--there were two broadway performers who recorded and they had successful careers and had top songs to boot. Those two were Jennifer Holliday and Heather Headly.

David A's father meddling will make this kid bonkers. Apparantly, David A. adding the Beautiful Girls line on the song last Tuesday might cause a lawsuit against AI since they did not have the rights to use the song at all.

I hope you're wrong about the song choice for David C ... but somehow, given what Simon wants, I would not be surprised if he gave David C something difficult for him to sing. And I don't agree that all Jason's votes will go to David A ... I think a fair amount of Jason supporters want somebody new and edgy ... and will not throw their support to a boy who looks like he's 12. And I think the reference to the Beautiful Girls song sailed over our heads because we don't know that song and it sounded like he was just throwing lines out at the end like Sam Kingston did ... either that or by then we were holding a pillow over our ears ....

I'm a huge Jason fan and David A is my very least favorite. I actually cringe typing that he is any kind of favorite at all! I can't stand him, personally. No way will I ever vote for him! I don't know anyone IRL who likes David A actually....

Lurking, but yet to post, until today. I am a Jason Castro fan. My husband thinks I'm crazy, and I'm sure others do too, but I REALLY liked him. He was different, but he was cool. I loved his voice...when he sang the right type of songs for him. He sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" again on a morning show this week, and it was like I was starry-eyed all over again...not because he's "cute" (which he is), but because his style gets me...it just makes me want to sit down and listen to him for days...it's just somehow captivating to me...in a different way than David Cook. David Cook is now the one I'm rooting for...as he and Jason have been my favorites all season...and the reasons that I like David are different than the reasons I like Jason...maybe I'm strange, but my preferences musically are so broad that I'm not really surprised. Anyway, I do think that David A. will win, unfortunately. I'm really not sure why girls think that he's "cute"...I don't get that one. I don't understand why when he forgot his lyrics, it was "okay,' as they treated him like a child who needed comforting after a fall or something...but when others have done the same thing, it was "doom, doom, doom." Hubby and I have differening opinions on this... He thinks that because of all of the hype about David A.'s dad being a "bad" stage dad, that this will get David A. MORE votes because viewers would feel bad for him. I think that it will either be the opposite or have no impact at all. What do you think? Another thing...does anyone else think that David A. is just the biggest dork of all time? I mean, I can't even stand to watch him talk, laugh, or much of anything anymore...it's like watching "Revenge of the Nerds." (Something else that the contestants probably would not know because of their age. lol)

I believe young teen girls think David A is cute because he is not threatening or overly masculine. I don't think he's a dork, I just think he's very nervous on stage when he is not singing. He manages to put aside the nervousness for the most part when he's performing.

My 15 yr old daughter gets all "googly eyed" over David A. I just want to hurl. He reminds me of that "crooner" on the old Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.

From women in their late teens and twenties, not 11-13 year olds who have to take their retainers out so they don't lose them. They oughta put an age limit on admission to the theater. You are hilarious! I couldn't remember if it was Sinatra or Crosby the crooner was a take off of.
