I'm at work tonight, so I can't see what anybody sings. Sight unseen, I'm predicting Brooke will go home, and that David will pick up her share of the "Mormon" vote. The "girl" votes will go to Syesha, and the rest will shift to Castro. A three-way split. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, for now.

So what's your prediction for this week? Brooke? And next week, David A being the surprise elimination? If so, that would leave Syesha, David C and Jason for the top 3... not too bad of a combination in my book, as Syesha does tend to grow on me - especially when she shows her fun side. It's really going to be interesting to watch how these final weeks all pan out... I can't wait for tomorrow and Wednesday nights to see what happens! That would be my prediction as long as Syesha gives a dynamic performance tonight and next week. Did you watch tonight, Laura? I'm waiting to hear from you...

I'm sure she did ... I'm waiting to hear from her too ... What did they sing?

I thought David C seemed the most marketable.

ORIGINAL: txhoneydarlin Each contestant sang two songs tonight - Paula totally messed up by reading prewritten comments on both of Jason's songs after he had only sang the first one, from what I understand. Syesha - Hello Again and Thank the Lord for the Night Time Better than past performances. I think she'll make it to next week. quote:
David A - Sweet Caroline and America Boring. Also a bad choice of song on the second one. When you've just had a foreigner elimlinated the week before, possibly because she is a foreigner, do you really want to sing about immigrants flooding our country? That is a very divisive issue right now, and I don't think he did himself any favors by singing it. However, I also think he'll stick around because of all the teenyboppers voting. quote:
Brooke - I'm a Believer and I Am... I Said Yuk...again. quote:
David C - I'm Alive and All I Really Need is You The best of the night. If he keeps this up he'll sail into the final. Also, is it just me, or did he stick a finger in the air at one point? It happened so quickly, I wasn't sure. It was during the first song, during some lyrics that sounded vaguely religious, so I thought maybe he was making a coded reference to Jesus. Or I could be crazy. quote:
Jason - Forever in Blue Jeans and September Morn Boring. I used to love Jason, but he has definitely not lived up to his potential the past few weeks. I haven't enjoyed him since Dolly week. I also think he and Brooke will be in the Bottom Two, but with Brooke going home.

babbred, Your predictions may be accurate. According to the stats I've been watching tonight, Jason received the least amount of votes (7.85%), next to Brooke (8.33%), although there is a 3.114% margin of error in Jason's favor and a 3.106% margin of error in Brooke's favor. More interesting of all is the fact that Syesha received the most votes (17.16%) , next to David C's 2nd place of 15.32%. David A is in third place with 10.57% of the votes (with a 3.068% margin of error). With the bottom three having such close margins of error - it could mean that David A, Brooke or Jason could be eliminated. We'll see how accurate these stats are tomorrow night at elimination... I still think Brooke will be eliminated, but we'll see. I want all of your honest opinions on Paula's slip-up tonight. According to one source, "During tonight's performances, Paula basically cast doubt on American Idol by messing up in a major way. When Ryan asked the judges for their thoughts on the contestants first performances, Paula not only gave her thoughts on Jason’s first song but also his second song, which coincidentally, hadn’t been aired yet. I call this a major ooppps. Even Randy, Ryan and Simon attempted to cover the mistake up, but it didn’t matter; the cat was out of the bag, judges' comments are “pre-written” based on rehearsal and now the whole world knows this fact." Do you think the above supports the argument that Idol is rigged or not? (Talk about things that make ya go hmmmmm... lol) Edited to add: Who all is tired of David A being constantly praised by the judges, no matter what he does and despite his obvious annoying habits? Raise your hands... and Who thinks Randy really doesn't like Jason very much, no matter what he does?

Unfortunatly, the black girl will be in the bottom two and will be out tomorrow. Simon did not like her performance at all.

Wow, it seemed really rushed tonight. The only good thing about that wa there was less time for the judges and Ryan's banter. I love Jason, but he wasn't really on top of his game tonight. OK, but...maybe too laid back. He kind of comes across like he doesn't care, but I think that's just his nervousness. Brooke: The second song sounded like every other song she's done at the piano - nothing different, nothing outstanding. David A.: Just "ok" to me. Lovely voice as always, but I wasn't thrilled with either song. David C.: Great! Original! Syesha: Great performances, but I didn't get the bare feet with a dressy dress. Based on the last couple of weeks, I'd say Jason and Brooke should be in the bottom two, though I'd really like to see Jason continue and step up his game. Paula: I've never seen any of the judges refer to notes before, so I am guessing maybe they made some notes for themselves through the rehearsal to try to help keep things straight, especially since they weren't going to be commenting on the first song until later on. I have no problem with that. Paula forgot herself and jumped the gun and made herself look silly, but I think that's all there is to it.

I have no problem with that. Paula forgot herself and jumped the gun and made herself look silly, but I think that's all there is to it. Tonight did have a rushed feeling to it, huh? I didn't really like it and think they should have stayed with the traditional one song performance instead of two. JMO there. Paula was really disappointing tonight - I understand that the judges probably do make notes during dress rehearsals, but she should have been on top of her game enough to pay attention and speak on the subject at hand - which was just the first song. Her saying that she thought Jason had already sung twice was a huge discounter of her - at least for me. She spoke negatively about two songs - and then tried to play switcheroo and say her second comment was about David C - when she turned around and praised him when given the chance... way too wierd for my liking! Paula has a problem of some sort, and I think it's becoming more and more evident that she's acting really spacey lately, ya know? Again, this is just my opinion about her actions tonight - and as of late... As I've stated in all my earlier posts, tomorrow night will be interesting. I really hope that Jason is not eliminated - but I also agree that if he is lucky enough to stay on board, he needs to kick up his performances and become more involved or something. A lot of folks have talked about him being sick last week and just not up to par yet this week - if that's the case, then it does need to be spoken of, as it was for Brooke earlier this season as well as others... This whole show is losing viewers left and right - the news is all over the 'Net. They need to revamp it somehow - and keep unfortunate errors to a minimum... I also think that instead of getting some major name performers to come visit Idol for the "theme of the week" - they need to get some current performers and challenge the contestants that way (or something). That would be a better representation of what each contestant has to offer to the current music world than what they are showing so far. (Does that make sense?)

Current performers may not have much of a song selection, though. And I think that since Neil Diamond will be releasing an album next month, he is still considered "current".

yup. I thought that Brooke didn't do well tonight with the second song, I Am, because she didn't "punch" it in the right places. She didn't seem to feel it (in my opinion). The guest mentor may have current songs, but if they've been around for a long time, like Neil Diamond, then they have more of a choice in their song selections. The older songs, like you said, are not as known by the younger contestants. Neil Diamond may be "current", but he is *known* for his older songs.

Love this quote from the Dallas News, " On Tuesday night, Paula Abdul stepped out of American Idol and into The Twilight Zone."
