Perfect Harmony from Netflix. That is an awesome movie about racism in the 50s.

We get most of our rentals these days from "REDBOX"....

Just over the weekend, we finally watched, "We are Marshall"...

Great movie.

The last movie my wife (bride48) and I (groom 52) rented (by mail) was Becoming Jane.

It was quite good. We watched it three times (on three separate evenings. First we watched it as is. Next We watched it with the audio commentary. Then we watched the documentary about the making of the movie.

Finally, last night we watched it with captions turned on so as to catch some of the things that were said so softly by the actors that it had been almost impossible to determine exactly what was said.

My wife loved the movie and I'll have to admit that I enjoyed it, too.

For those of you who haven't heard about the movie, it is the story of the young Jane Austin and provides some insights into how somebody who never married was able to write so well about romance and relationships.

Miss Congeniality 2 - it was just okay

Well....title escapes me now, something w/ "in the Night". It's new out w/ Joaquin Phenix, Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall, & Eva Mendez. It was recommended by a customer while I was in Movie Gallery. It was a bit racy at points, but as far as the story line, it brought out some important points. If you can get past the profanity & the sex scene right at the beginning, you will find it an interesting movie. It has deep moments w/ family.

I've got Ocean's 13, but haven't seen it yet. Maybe tonight. k

I've got this one sitting in a Netflix envelope and will likely watch it tonight. I've hesitated because that Jane Austen biopic recently on PBS was SOOOOOOO depressing.

"Finding Neverland"
I just saw it with my mom; really enjoyed it. Johnny and Kate pull wonderful performances out of the bag as usual. However I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd seen it before becoming a Christian.

American Gangster - not a wise choice on the night of time change since the uncut version is over 3 hours! But, it was a good movie. The thing I find impressive is that knowing that Denzel Washington is a Christian, he does hold to his integrity. He does no sex scenes w/ his leading lady. He does throw out the MF word 2 or 3 times, but I would say that is the limit. The story line is quite interesting & the ending really wasn't expected, but an amazing testimony to the law & how it is enforced. It's a must see. kd

My wife and I just returned "Father of the Bride" (the remake) and we both ejoyed it. I hadn't ever seen it before but my wife said it was quite good and I had to agree with her after seeing it.

Usually when my wife likes a movie, I find that I like it, too. But not every movie that I like turns out to be a favorite of hers. In fact sometimes she gets surprised when she watches a movie that I have said was really good and she discovers she does actually enjoy it.

Bad example: I loved the science fiction comedy, "Inner Space." She did not care for it.

But...I really like the "Back to the Future" movies...so much so that she gave me the set as a Christmas present a couple of years ago without ever having seen any of them (I guess 'cuz she loves me). When she did watch them with me she found she kinda liked them, too.

Movies are indeed fun.

Lady Killers (the original with Alec Guiness).

It's one of my all time favorites, and my kids hadn't seen it. This movie is one on our list of old movies that we're watching with them. I think The Apartment will be next.

It's been many years since I saw the Lady Killers with Alec Guiness, but as I recall it was quite good.

The latest movie we watched was Luthur, which was excellent. It's about how Martin Luthur came be believe that salvation was by faith, not purchasing indulgences, and how it was important for people to be able to read the Bible in their own language. Very powerful.

What is it about?

Its based on a book by Jerry Jenkins. I rented it from Netflix. Its the life story of a lady who dedicates her life to serving God & the losses & tragedy she experiences on her spiritual journey.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Excellent drama, awesome sets & costumes. Historically inaccurate, but I'm watching for entertainment, not a history lesson.

Love In the Time of Cholera

Having not researched this, I just assumed it depicted the same epidemic as in the Painted Veil. Well, not even close. I think I liked Painted Veil better in some ways. Love In the Time of Cholera does have its good points, but in the end I can't really see the benefit in it. If we want to get caught up in a story line of a man who really only loves one woman in his lifetime, then I guess it makes for a great story, but the value he put in that love is questionable. It is rated R & I was trying to give up R this year, but I forgot to check the rating before I rented it. k

Last movie rented was 'Phoenix lights' the documentary about UFO sightings reported by thousands of people in Arizona from 1995 until recently. It is a credible film with real witnesses and real media coverage. Of course there is denial by government and military institutions. Plus there is a leaning towards an evolution of the human mind and spirit to a new level. It's just another branch of new age philosophy but it doesn't mean that there isn't anything in the sky. The celestial beings have been here since the beginning. They are called angels. The bible is speckled with other worldly accounts. Just look at what happened in the days just before Noah built the ark. What about the book of Jude? It reads as though the believers of the time would know what he was talking about. What about Paul? "His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms," Ephesians 3:10. But look at the whole chapter. It's obvious that he not talking about the gentiles in that verse. He already speaks about them and then goes into beings in the heavenly realms. It was a decent documentary and didn't look like a kooky T.V. alien special.
