Here's the new thread for the next season (16!) of Survivor, Survivor Micronesia - Fans vs Favorites! The 10 Favorites are.... Jonny Fairplay (Pearl Islands) Eliza Orlins (Vanuatu) Ami Cusack (Vanuatu) Cirie Fields (Panama) Ozzy Lusth (Cook Islands) Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands) Parvati Shallow (Cook Islands) Yau-Man Chan (Fiji) Amanda Kimmel (China) James Clement (China) I have to admit - there's a few on that list I don't remember! First poll question - who do you think has the advantage/will win - a Fan or a Favorite?

BTW - anyone know when the next season starts? I know they usually have a Survivor kickoff after the Superbowl, but that would be pretty quick....

The website has those AWFUL drop down menus again! ARGH - I HATE those! [:'(][:@][:'(][:@][:'(] But anyway... I don't think any of them have an advantage, actually. If these are really fans - and long-time fans, as they said that they were on the last finale, then they've been able to study the game. They won't be there just to enjoy the experience as some of the non-fan contestants have been. The favorites have had a similar experience before, but that's not really much of an advantage, I don't think. And no, I don't know when it starts. We don't watch CBS (we watch the CBS shows as simulcast on a Canadian station) so we don't see commercials.

looks like it will start February 7...from a google search that sent me to a yahoo question/answer thing, so that could be off. i think in some ways the fans will have an advantage in that they will know the character ups and downs of the favorites. But then the favorites will have the advantage of having played the game already and hopefully learned something that the fans won't know.

Well ... I like Ozzy, but otherwise, I don't see any other of my "favorites" -- in fact, I can't remember a good number of those contestants. And Jonny Fairplay is NO ONE'S favorite! I'm glad they didn't try to spin this as another all-star group; it feels like they just took whoever they could get.

Yup---how is Johnny Fairplay a favorite? The last time I saw him was when Danny Bonaduce slammed him down on some reality award night.

That's probably true, although his season was so long ago, that there's gotta be a whole slew of current Survivor fans who have no idea who he is. Besides, the only dirty-rotten thing he did on the show was tell a lie. It never even came out during the season that he had lied -- only afterward, at which time he decided to manufacture himself into a sleazy reality t.v. villain. He's really done nothing since then that warrants his 15 minutes being turned into hours, it seems!

I am wondering how the particular survivors were chosen. The way it sounded in the finale show was that maybe the people that were chosen to play picked their favorite survivor and those were the ones chosen to play...against their "fan"...and if so, probably without the players knowledge that it would happen. I don't know though....could be anything. Have to wait til the show starts to really find out huh.

I'm rooting for Jonathan Penner (Not Fairplay- NO WAY!). I liked him in Cook Islands, plus he was in a movie my father and I always liked to watch- Down Periscope where Kelsey Grammer played a submarine captain. So Jonathan was a sentimental favorite for me in Cook Islands as he is for this upcoming season.

Being a fan from Day one, I'm just as much of a Survivor nerd. My other family members who had been enthusiastic about the show for a while, have had their enthusiasm for the show taper off. But I'm still just as much as a fanatic as ever! [:D]

so how many seasons do you have on video or dvd? We have the first three...but after that we didn't buy them. Then after about season 8 or so we moved to Germany and couldn't really watch it over there. It came on for us at like 2am. So we didn't get to watch a few of the seasons...got back into it when we moved here, so last season.

How are some of these people favorites?!? I do not even remember them, and I have watched every Survivor episode. I do not own any Survivor seasons, but I have watched all the available seasons through Netflix, and downloaded the others. The CBS website says the premiere is February 7.

I remember most of them. Jonny- the dead gramma Ami- she was, I believe, a lesbian. I remember when I asked what a barista because that was her occupation then Cirie- how can I forget her-- she's got one of the bubliest personality with a smile Ozzy- I liked Ozzy Jonathan- dh liked him Parvati- she was a flirt Yau-man- he was underrated at first because of his age but turned out to be one of the best player that season Amanda- 'was hoping that she would win last season James- how can we forget them muscles [:)] and Eliza...I can't remember her-- I think she was in the final 4 when Chris won. That was the year that the females dominated the males.

I watch Survivor from time to time, but not a huge fan. I have to say, however, that the commercials are really clever.

I used to be a huge Survivor fan - my favorite was Survivor Australia. It just seems to have gone down since then, I have to say I did enjoy Rubert. I haven't watched in a couple of seasons, maybe I will give the new one a try.
