I'm kind of on constant vacation, but it's not always fun.

I haven't seen Star Trek in years! Beam me up, Scottie!

I had a couple of those "vacations", one lasting almost two years. You're right, it ain't fun after a while. Never thought I be desperate to get back to work until that happened.

phosadaud -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 11:22:16 AM)

I love vacation, but I can't imagine going that long without working.[&o] I think I'd go crazy. I need to stay busy (hence, why I am "working" on my vacation now [8D]). It drives my mom, the nurse, nuts. I'll get sick and after about 2 days of laying around, even if I feel awful, I just can't stay in bed any longer. If I ever have surgery, they'll have to strap me to the bed while I recover... Soooo I can recover... [&:]

cherish405 -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 12:20:32 PM)

I'd find things so much easier if I weren't in constant pain. I'd be able to move around with more freedom. These days, even lifting a book to read it, or even typing is painful. Not working is depressing enough, but when you add constant pain to the mix, it just makes it all the worse. Sorry to gripe.

Anyway, I hope you're all having a good day.

phosadaud -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 12:23:05 PM)

(((((Trish)))))) Gripe whenever you need to! Any luck with finding a doctor who will take you seriously? And are there good treatment for fibromyalgia?

cherish405 -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 1:00:37 PM)

I've finally found a rheumatologist who specialises in fibromyalgia. That will be on the 12th of August. YAY to going to a doctor who won't think I'm nuts, or that fibromyalgia doesn't exist! Other than God, fibromyalgia is incurable. They say that certain exercises, low dose antidepressants and anti-inflammatories help. I'm already doing that and not getting many results. I'm taking over the counter pain meds which don't touch the sides. I can't take anything stronger until it's properly diagnosed and then they can prescribe me stronger meds. As I'm in so much pain, I can't get to the gym as often as I'd like, or the rehabilitation physiologist would like. I'm lucky to get there once a week, and I know she'd eventually like me there 3 times a week. Hopefully when I'm on stronger pain meds, that will help, and then I can strengthen my muscles etc. At this stage, the colder temperatures are wreaking havoc with my body. Sometimes just the slightest touch to my skin is extremely painful. It makes wearing clothing interesting sometimes, but don't worry, I'm not running around in the nude. Hey shar-mar,

I found another cam you might like to see. Hope the link works. It's such a peaceful view.

edit to add: You've probably already seen this cam before, but I'm posting it anyway. [:D]

phosadaud -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 2:06:38 PM)

Trish - I'm so glad you finally found a good doctor. Remind us and we'll pray for you when you go see him. I pray you can find some relief! And soon![:(]

cherish405 -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 2:08:30 PM)

Thanks Kristin.

uncabeeil -> RE: 2008 - Ramblin' Who Knows Where with Shar-Mar (7/25/2008 3:17:44 PM)

Trish, they're advertising two new drugs for the treatment of fibromyalgia here. One is Cymbalta, an anti-depressant. The other is Lyrica, which is advertised as not being an anti-depressant, and is specifically for treating fibromyalgia. Not sure if either is available over there, bu might be worth checking out.

Trish, when you go see if your dr knows about Lyrica

quote:

LYRICA is the first FDA-approved treatment that can help relieve fibromyalgia pain. In clinical studies it has been shown to help patients with fibromyalgia feel better.

LYRICA is the first treatment option approved to manage fibromyalgia. Talk to your doctor and see if LYRICA is right for you.

I'm on it for complications from Diabetes. It has helped me a lot.

I doubt it for Ocean Spray. I did find This though. We missed the harvest for now but lower left there is a photo gallery to look at. I have gained a better taste for cranberry juice but mixed with something else like cranapple, or canberry and berry, berry berry quite contrary... oh, that's something else. [;)][8D]

Oooh, Lakeville!

And I got a chuckle out of those of y'all who were posting "about nothing". We've finally hit upon something that everyone wants to talk about. LOL! Christine, did you know you were such an inspirational leader (seeing as how everyone was responding to your post)? [:D]

{{{Trish}}}

If you have time, I'd like for you to look at a website for me, please.
Dogtor J is a veterinarian who has also done extensive research into various human illnesses.

I found his website last year (May, 2007) during some anti-seizure research.
I started putting into practice some of what he suggests in that regard, and the results have been absolutely wonderful!
This past Monday (7/21) marked 10 months since I have been completely seizure-free. Thank You, Jesus! [sm=icon_smile_sing.gif][sm=icon_smile_sing.gif][sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]

This has been the longest duration of time that I've been seizure-free since early 2002. Actually I've beaten the time frame by 4 months (because back in 2002, the seizures were occurring roughly every 6 months). As a sidenote, I'm firmly convinced that I would have been seizure free for 14+ months now if I hadn't had my hair permed and colored last September . . . but that's for a different post to talk about that. [:D]

In addition to seizures, Dogtor J discusses and shares his research on many other illnesses; fibromyalgia being one of them. ---> HERE <--- is a link to his website.

For whatever reason, all of his pages have the same URL address (I wasn't able to create a link to the specific portion the website that I'd like for you to read).

However, the above link will take you to his homepage of his website. On the left is a menu bar; scroll down and click on the 24th link from the top ("Appetizes1 / Diseases A - J"). Once that page loads, scroll half-way down the page until you see the section on Fibromyalgia.

My prayer for you, Trish is complete and total healing.

Y'all, I had meant to do this the other day . . . but obviously didn't. [sm=aside.gif]
For those of y'all who don't know yet, there is a thread for Donna where we can get updates and post our prayers and encouragements to her.

My apologies, please, for not having done this sooner. [sm=icon_smile_roll.gif]

It's a wet day here in Pigeon Forge.
I had planned on pulling weeds, but I guess I'll let them grow some more, and I'll stay inside where it's dry.
(Although I do hope that I can sneak up to the Post Office in-between the rain drops . . . my new printer that I ordered arrived earlier this week; but I had to buy the USB cable elsewhere; and I'm hoping it's waiting for me up at the post office).

My prayer for each of y'all today is that your days will be filled with Our Lord's Peace, Joy and Comfort.

BTW, y'all . . . remember when I asked for prayer for a friend of mine on the very day I arrived back in Pigeon Forge last month? (She had been taken to the hospital for pains in her chest).

The update to that is that they kept in her the hospital a couple of days, but didn't find anything "wrong." The doctors attributed it to stress, too much activity and way too much caffeine.

I've talked with her twice since then and she sounds absolutely wonderful.

She and her husband are both 80 . . . but they look like they're in their 60s . . . and they act even younger than that. I can well imagine the "too much activity" part; those 2 are on the go from the moment they get up to practically when they go to bed.

Thanks for your prayers for her!
