After a period of warmer weather, it's cooling off again. Looks like a lot of rain/snow over the next few days. Probably won't amount to much though. It's warm enough still during the day to melt anything off.

This is the time of year where the days are short, and the weather is usually bad enough not to venture out too much. The yard is still covered with leaves that never got raked last fall.

The wife and I have finally come to an agreement that I need to get a riding lawn mower. She had suggested it several years ago, but I've been resisting. After all...I do need the exercize.

We've both come to the conclusion that if I keep mowing the lawn in the heat, it's going to kill me.

So this is the time of year that you dream about new lawnmowers and thoughts turn toward what goes in the garden this year...and maybe actually getting the boat in the water this year.

Meanwhile...overtime at work is starting to pick up again. Good thing this time of year when there's not much else to do. But when spring gets here, there's a million other things too.

New yard toys are always good fun. That's a good way to alleviate the winter blaaahs.

Ab so root ry!

You have it backwards though. You were suppose to want it and she was suppose to resist!

Well, that's a good thing!

Now if mine would just insist on a new camper!

You just got that one! Is it time for an upgrade? You'd think she'd like that.

Hi Ray... nice garage! I'm not worth a toot this time of year. My motivation is minimal probably because of the weather but once spring and warmer weather comes, I'm back on the bike and my energy level goes way up.

A few years ago, in the heat/humidity of summer, I realized pushing a mower through high St. Augustine grass WOULD kill me so quite soon afterward the old mower bit the dust and I bought my first riding mower. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT!

There are many things that I want but cannot afford but I figure that for all us guys that have worked hard for a long time, exercise should be a choice not something we get doing home chores. It has really paid off mulching all the leaves that have fallen recently.

This is crazy! I just remembered that I dreamed about my mower last night. Wow! I used to dream about girls. Aging is a funny thing.

I'm picturing a gardening magazine with a fold-out lawnmower advertisement.

Exactly!

Hoping that not having to endure that will motivate me to get healthier forms of exercize.

Same here... I'm very lethargic in wintertime. I don't know why -- I'm getting plenty of rest.

I hope it's not too personal (if it is, you don't have to answer..) but does it make your butt hurt when you bike ride? I used to ride a lot when I was younger (like 60+ mile day rides) and it was never a problem but anymore my tail bone gets really painful when I ride a bike. Even with a gel padded seat.

Heck yeah! Sometimes it feels like somebody took the seat off and I'm sitting on the post.

I haven't ridden a bicycle in a few years, but when I did, the seat was causing certain portions of the anatomy to go numb. It must have been pinching off a nerve.

Yep, that happened to me all the time. As I rode more, it got better, but then I found the motorcycle was even more comfortable. For a little while that is!

I'm 49 and even with double gel packs, it still hurts my butt and back. I don't really care about mileage but I can last about an hour and a half and do it around 5 times a week.

I'm definitely ready for a bike with a better seat plus a motor.

I'm thinking more like a big pickup truck with a 5th wheel camper behind it.

So I've never had a riding lawn mower before. What are some of the things to look for?
