OK thanks, I just figured it might be obvious which package is coming from me!!!

paulsbride -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/5/2008 10:14:37 PM)

I want to pick out a book or two to send ... but I want it to be one(s) that my SS will actually enjoy... so I can't pick anything out quite yet... but I want to sooooo badly - I am so excited about this exchange - this is SUCH A GOOD ONE!!! [:)]

uponeagleswings -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/5/2008 10:15:45 PM)

I'm excited about this one too- I love books!! I'm just hoping more people decide to join in!

zoebob -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/5/2008 10:20:09 PM)

Also, sometimes people will put someone else's return address (like a relative or friend) if they are sending it to someone who knows their address. For the CHristmas one I gave my package to my brother at Thanksgiving and he mailed it from another state because if I mailed it from here my SS (Donna) would have figured me out. I thought she might anyway because I've talked about a bro in the state it was mailed from.

If you mean the return address, I have sent packages off with no return address and not had a problem with the post office.

The only problem the P.O. will have with no return addy packages is they have to go ground (due to post 9-11 security), which means (my understanding of it) is you can't use delivery confirmation or insurance.

My first SS exchange, I didn't put a return addy on it, the second one I did (but it wasn't mine[;)]).

uponeagleswings -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/5/2008 10:53:44 PM)

True. I've also sent them off with a return addy but no name. Or I've postmarked things from work

Harvie -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/6/2008 3:03:01 AM)

I guess I'm boring, and don't really worry if my SS figures out the package is me!

lexie -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/6/2008 8:13:24 AM)

It's funny that you mention wanting to buy a book for your SS already. I've been reading through what everyone has written and someone mentioned a book or author they are interested in, and of course I have some of their books sitting in my collection! How great is that! But wait...I don't know if they're my SS or not!

It will be very obvious where my package is from and it has nothing to do with return address, but I know the fun will be in waiting for the package and the suspense of what's inside!

cherish405 -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/6/2008 11:44:27 AM)

I love books, but I doubt I'll be able to participate in this exchange.

Tracy, I am a true crime junky! I used to read it, now I tune into A&E. I don't really have many true crime books...

Hazel, I never thought I would like books like that, but it is all my friend reads and talks about so one day, I took one of her books. It was the first book about Lacy Peterson and I was so hooked. I am just glad to have a friend who has a library for me to just go in and borrow from with no time limits because I don't get to read books too often.

Ok, Harvie, are you sure you are not my husband? I know there are a bunch Calvin and Hobbes and Bloom County in my basement. Maybe he might want to get rid of one or two?

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/7/2008 7:32:32 AM)

CALVIN AND HOBBES RULES! I love those books. I have a ton from when I was younger, that my girls look at. They love them too.
Sandy

lexie -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/7/2008 8:35:54 AM)

Dh loves Calvin and Hobbes and Dilbert. And Mr. Boffo. Too bad he won't part with any of them!!!

MrsTracy72 -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/7/2008 2:44:13 PM)

Ok, now I feel stupid. I don't know anything about them except for that there are books in my basement that had those names on them. And his books are old.

Memaw. -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/10/2008 1:50:59 PM)

I just picked up some old classics at a yard sale....

This one is going to be a fun one, I love books!

Auben -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/10/2008 4:04:02 PM)

Is there still room for me?

What are your favorite genres/types of books? Classics, Cookbook (Indian cooking or soup especially), Memoirs, Biography, Science, History, and Gardening (I read a lot of gardening books in the winter).

Who are your favorite authors- do you own all of their books? Not really. I do own a lot of classics...and history.

Are there any other authors you'd like to try? No romance please, even Christian romance. I'm curious about the Thoene's though. I haven't read anything of theirs but people recommend them all the time.

Are there any specific titles you've been eyeing up? I have a whole huge wishlist I keep somewhere but I'm not going to dig it up. That might make this more complicated for the person who gets my name.

Any special considerations (ie someone who needs large print books)? No

And of course...
How can your SS (and the rest of us) pray for you? I'm going back to school next year.

uponeagleswings -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/10/2008 9:40:35 PM)

There's always room for another person!! Did you PM anyone your info Tamara?

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/11/2008 7:18:54 AM)

you still have time! Send your info to stacy or me =)

I'm so excited about this exchange!
Sandy

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/11/2008 3:16:29 PM)

I got info from Auben
Sandy

PrincessDonna -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/11/2008 3:52:31 PM)

What are your favorite genres/types of books?

Crime/mystery. Good Christian fiction. Cookbooks. Variety or logic puzzle books.

Who are your favorite authors- do you own all of their books?

Max Lucado is my absolute favorite, but I have all of them already.

Are there any other authors you'd like to try?

Don't know. I'm not being very helpful, am I?

Are there any specific titles you've been eyeing up?

I've been on the lookout for a good bread book. Just learned how to make it and I'd like some more recipes to "play" with.

Any special considerations (ie someone who needs large print books)?

Nope.

How can your SS (and the rest of us) pray for you?

For a healthy pregnancy and baby, also for wisdom in discerning if this should be our last child.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/11/2008 4:31:04 PM)

got your info donna!

_Cinderella_ -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/11/2008 6:01:07 PM)

What are your favorite genres/types of books?

I like "young adult" books. Two of my favorites are Gathering Blue and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

I also like books about humans and their dogs. I enjoyed reading Marley & Me and I can't remember the name of the other dog/human book I read recently.

I like some chick lit also. I have read a couple Nicholas Sparks.

Who are your favorite authors- do you own all of their books?

I don't really have any favorite authors.

Are there any other authors you'd like to try?

Max Lucado sounds interesting. Might like to try some other Nicholas Sparks books (have read Walk to Remember and The Wedding). Anything else that seems interesting and light-hearted (I don't like sci-fi or mystery or horror or suspense).

Are there any specific titles you've been eyeing up?

I don't make it to the book store/library too often to see what is out there. I have been considering buying the first Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book since I own 2, 3, and 4 but not 1.

Any special considerations (ie someone who needs large print books)?

No, but I don't like books with tiny print and two zillion pages.

And of course...
How can your SS (and the rest of us) pray for you?

For continued healing in my marriage.
That I can figure out what to do as far as a job.

uponeagleswings -> RE: 2008 Secret Sister Book Exchange!! (1/11/2008 6:08:28 PM)

I'm still trying to decide. I still don't know where the post office is, and easily get lost even going the 1/2 mile to wal-mart...get turned around. So I don't know yet if I want to do it again this time.
