Last night we got six inches of snow in three hours. It has stopped snowing for now, but we might get more later. If I liked snow I would say it looks like a winter wonderland outside.

It's balmy here. A welcome relief from the freezing temperatures we've had. Would take freezing though if it brought a good snow fall.

Hi Lynn, and welcome to the weather thread! You must have consistent weather where you are, eh?

For the most part yeah. I decided that I am not even leaving the house today. All of the rain is giving me a chance to catch up on some of my house duties that I normally wouldnt get to because I normally spend my weekends shopping, running errands and stuff...

magdaleine -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/5/2008 8:41:31 PM)

I wasn't the only one today who remarked on how warm it is outside. The girl at the bakery commented that it's practically tropical outside. At the time it was 29 with a windchill of about 18. For January, that's amazingly warm for here.

I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range in North/Central California.

I survived the past 48+ hours! We had hurricane force winds for hours, pounding rain and then the snow came.

I was without power for about 36 hours and, to add insult to injury, the neighbor's tree fell across the corner of my house taking out part of a gutter and rail of a deck.

Thank God it was not worse. I live in a heavily treed area (large trees).

My poor kitty cats were sooo scared....I was also[&:]

Eek! I am on the west side of those mountains.

No new snow for us today, and the sun even came out for a bit!

It has been raining since Friday morning! [sm=crystreams.gif] and it's not supposed to let up until sometime Tuesday!

[sm=wave.gif]I Am Just Me, I love your nickname and particularly your darling avatar! [sm=heart.gif][sm=heart.gif][sm=heart.gif]

Here in Wyoming, all we are getting is *brrrrrrr* cold. [sm=icon_smile_cold.gif]
I don't know when our temps are going to be above 32 degrees. My temp thingy seems to be stuck right around Zero (and below....) [:(]

i_am_just_me -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/7/2008 12:07:05 PM)

Thank you!

I grew up in Florida so I can handle the rain, but the reason why I love San Diego is the weather --- just not this weekend....and I can't stand being cold.

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/7/2008 1:48:17 PM)

Setting records in NE Indiana today with temps in the mid 60's!!! NOT typical at all for January! My hubby even broke out the shorts to wear to work this afternoon/evening! But we are supposed to be getting a cold front going through late tonight and behind that much cooler temps. If it weren't so wet and muddy out I'd be kicking all the kids outside to play, but I'd rather NOT have a bunch of muddy clothes to wash!

Just to set the record straight - last week we were freezing with temps in the single digits and windchills below zero and a nasty ice and snowstorm New Years eve/day. That's more typical for us.

Just hoping my apple trees don't decide to set their buds and the tulips stay smart and stay underground!

Blessings,

Garsy

77ş here.....I'm kind of enjoying it. But it's a pain switching from A/C to heat back to A/C all the time.

humbleinspirit -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/7/2008 7:04:27 PM)

Welcome Ginny, Garsy and Cherishedbygod! Please make yourselves at home!

Hi Beckey, Lynn, April, PC, Maggie, & Amy!

I heard that Wisconsin is having a tornado warning right now! [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

PC, who is the cute puppy in your avatar?

It has been quite mild here, quite a change from last weeks bitter cold! Its the January thaw that is happening here.

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/7/2008 9:50:16 PM)

We are now under a tornado watch and a thunderstorm watch.[&:][&:] Not your typical weather for January in Northern Indiana, let alone Wisconsin and Michagan! Counties to the North and West of us are under T-storm warning!

Hopefully it won't get to loud tonight! My kids need to sleep! Tomorrow is their first day back to school after break!

Blessings,

Garsy

humbleinspirit -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/7/2008 10:00:30 PM)

Yeah, it sounds pretty bizarre, especially after last weeks weather!

Grace-N-Mercy -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/7/2008 10:07:52 PM)

We had almost-record cold last week, and almost-record heat this week. [8|]

It is my dog back when we first brought her home two years ago.

I wish we were having record heat here!

vmginny -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/8/2008 6:48:25 AM)

No you don't.

The balmy weather brought tornadoes.

Last night, the City's alarm system kept sounding off. I ignored it until one of my son's called and told us to go to the basement. He said he and his wife were in their bathtub. So like a good mom I went downstairs and for two or more hours slept on the floor in my basement.

The rain poured, lightening flashed, the winds were noisy and I slept as best I could. Our roof leaked and our youngest put a bucket under the leak.

After two and half hours I said I think I'll die in my bed and went back upstairs. Hubby was already there.

I did pray for God to protect us and protect all the people who were in danger.

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/8/2008 9:03:44 AM)

We had thunderstorms last night too but now warnings or really nasty weather. Just wind and rain. The area rivers are all at or above flood stage. The little creek down the road has flooded it's banks so I have the possibility that the wild critters will be fleeing to higher ground soon, which means my hedges and garden. Oh well! At least I'm up on the hill and unless the flooding gets really crazy I don't think we'll be seeing any problems!

Blessings,

Garsy

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/8/2008 11:12:36 AM)

Yes Wisconsin had FIVE tonado's touch down, just to the south of us. Lot of folks lost their homes...but no reports of any lives lost. PTL
We had fog, lightning, rain, and hail. The temps reached in the high 40 around me. Warmer to the south where they got the bad stuff.
Now tonight we are expecting an inch of snow again. Weird weather, even if it is the Jan. thaw

i_am_just_me -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/8/2008 11:24:01 AM)

No more rain!!! [sm=dance.gif][sm=funny.gif]

Today it is back to decent winter weather (a little cloudy though but oh well) and its a high of 64. chilly but not wet!!!

[:D]

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/8/2008 11:37:09 AM)

Rain here yet...with a temp dropping. We have 36 degrees now

_Cinderella_ -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/8/2008 10:03:42 PM)

rain here

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (1/9/2008 9:27:25 AM)

Temps dropping back down to somewhat normal - mid 30's or so. BUT it is WET! Flooding in many parts of our county - NOTHING like the spots you are seeing on the news but yuck just the same. I have standing water in my backyard and I'm pretty certain that part of the road that will take me to my kid's school is flooded. It was very close to coming over the road last night and we had a tad bit more rain over night.

Blessings,

Garsy
