ORIGINAL: tracydolls Now I clicked racial issues from another thread and I keep only gettting this thread. This is where we are suppose to discuss all matters concerning race? Yes, that is why it is called a One Stop thread. From the OP quote:
ORIGINAL: Fritzpw_Admin Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight. Welcome to the One Stop thread for all things related to racial issues. Do they exist? Why do they exist? How can they be overcome? What should be done about past offenses? Discuss these as well as other questions that may come up... all things racial. [Admin's Note: Please refrain from personal attack.]

Ok, thank you! So a thread with "race" in the title does not or does get moved. How is it decided when to move"racial threads"

We don't move the thread, we lock it and link back to this one. I'd say any racial thread is referred back to this one. We may not see them all though, so the report feature comes in handy. If one sees a racial thread that is open they could file a ticket (report the OP using the report link next to the post number) and a mod or admin will determine if it should be locked/linked back to this one.

From another thread: quote:
Who talks about how great it is that Arthur Ash couldnt plan tennis at the tennis courts near his house because he was black. Arthur Ash was born in 1943 and grew up in a different era than even I did. He was an adult when segregation ended and Jim Crow was laidto rest in my hometown. Who in the past... oh, I dunno... 10 or 20 or 30 years has been denied permission to play tennis because of their race or color?

I have come across my share of racism directed at me. My ancestors fought for certain rights. Wallowing in self-pity about they didn't have is an insult to their legacy and will do nothing to promote the future of my children and grandchildren.

I think what I get angry about concerning race, 1. the history revisionists. There was no Slavery, or Holocust, etc. 2. The lie that there is NO racism now. FBI. com says Racial hate crimes have RISEN 10 percent since 2000. 3. Black people don't get credit for the good they have did, their inventions, etc. All of Febuary BLack History Month-schools only talk about MLK. 4. Even when in your face racism is pointed out, people say you are playing the "race card"

3. Black people don't get credit for the good they have did, their inventions, etc. All of February Black History Month-schools only talk about MLK. Last I heard, there was no Comanche or Native American history month. If there is, it certainly doesn't get the notoriety of Black History Month. quote:
4. Even when in your face racism is pointed out, people say you are playing the "race card" The question that you need to ask yourself is how long are you going to keep your ancestors as victims so that you can stay a victim? When will you start rejoicing over their victories and get yourself out of a victim mentality?

How do you define a true victim and the victim mentality?

so when a white racist threw a full can of beer at one of my 4 year old twins and busted her eye open, she was not a victim of that? I'm sorry that happened. I've had people of a variety of different races hurt me terribly physically and emotionally. Bottom line is those people were jerks- has nothing to do with their race. How do you know if an attack is racially motivated or just someone being a jerk? quote:
How do you define a true victim and the victim mentality? Keeping the pain of the past alive and continuing to live in that pain instead of dealing with it and moving on. That would be just one definition. I'm sure others can give a more eloquent definition.

Sorry, I will not respond to a post when the person can not express themselves in a way that does not involve asterisks. You are much too intelligent of a woman to degrade yourself like that.

Can I ask why you responded to lots of other posts with asterisks? I thought we are suppose to use them instead of spelling out the word. I am intelligent enough to spell words but won't I get a TOS thingy if I do?

From the TOS: Referring to particular vulgar terms or words in any manner that brings them to mind such as purposefully misspelling or using symbols to suggest bad language or referring to something by a letter that identifies the word is unacceptable.

Let me clarify this for you. All racists are jerks, but not all jerks are racists. My comment there was aimed at the fact that you mentioned he had a confederate flag. That has no more to do with racism than wearing a cross has to do with Christianity.

With the exception of some Nazi-like groups and the president of Iran, I don't know of any sane person who denies the holocaust. BTW, I personally don't think the president of Iran and those Nazi-like groups are sane. quote:
2. The lie that there is NO racism now. I know of people who minimize racism. I don't know of anyone who denies it. It exists. I have heard comments in the last week or two suggesting that it does. quote:
FBI. com says Racial hate crimes have RISEN 10 percent since 2000. The problem I have at the outset is that a crime by a person of one race against a person of another race is de facto regarded as a hate crime. The motivation might be money or anything. Maybe the reason IS race. I dunno. quote:
3. Black people don't get credit for the good they have did, their inventions, etc. All of Febuary BLack History Month-schools only talk about MLK. Are you want to erase discrimination against people based on race by emphasising ONLY the contributions by blacks? I thought the idea was to be racially blind. quote:
4. Even when in your face racism is pointed out, people say you are playing the "race card" Look. In the city of Dallas, we have had some black city council leaders who were convicted of accepting bribes. As part of their defense, they claim the whole thing was racially motivated. We had a black police chief who was fired because of accusations of mismanagement and incompetence. He got on TV and claimed it was all racially motivated. I realize that black people have to be suspicious when false accusations are made against them. But not everything is racially motivated. quote:
so when a white racist threw a full can of beer at one of my 4 year old twins and busted her eye open, she was not a victim of that? How do you define a true victim and the victim mentality? Tracy, Some people are just mean and nasty. quote:
When he called her a N**** B*****, they also had a confed. flag in truck, since I live in MN. Seems strange. I think telling the truth about racism is not a victim mentality. That's racist!

"You're right, that is racist. However, to read Tracy's posts, you would think that this is normal everyday behavior. For some, it may be. But for most, it's not." How do you know that these experiences are not normal or "ordinary" for most blacks? That's presumptious to say especially if you are not black.

My opinion on racism is that we are entirely too generous regarding the sinful nature of homo sapiens. Man will take advantage of any difference among us for his own selfish advantage: economic, political, religious or RACIAL in order to get his own way. Race is just one of them. Neither whites nor blacks are unique in overgeneralizing the negative characteristics of the person of the other color. Like the classic study of the elementary classroom teacher who separated her kids into blue-eyed and brown-eyed groups--to illustrate a lesson on racism. It was meant to teach kids to empathize with others on matters of race. What it demonstrated was that power corrupts, whether it is based on social order or economics. If we interpret it in merely racial terms, we miss what ought to be an obvious point: that humans are selfish, power-hungry sinners.

I live where there are racist "patches," and if a black person lives there, they'd not have a happy life... and I think they may actually be harmed. People around here just naturally come to find out that there are certain towns that you are taking a risk in, even if you have to just drive through. But I'm sure if someone didn't know and moved there/stayed for a visit they'd find out pretty soon that they need to get out or risk it. I also think it depens on areas people are in. What happens to me in some parts of NY won't be the same as what happens to me in some parts of AL (for example).
