Thank you to all that prayed. I'm thankful that the biopsy is over!!! It went very well. It was very painful and I did have bleeding all night. I rested and am feeling much better today. I go back to the Dr. in 2 weeks to get the results and discuss what to do from here.

Thanks agin :D

Hi everyone! I went to the Dr. today and good news, my biopsy was 100% normal. I am now a candidate for the endometrial ablation procedure. I will be hopefully having it done the beginning of January, if my Dr. has an opening. He is on vacation towards the end of Jan, so if I cannot be scheduled before his vacation it will be in February. His scheduler will be calling me in the next few days. The Dr. went over the procedure with me and I am at peace with the decision. I will let you all know when my procedure is scheduled. Thank you all for your support and your prayers.

Penny, that's great news. Please keep us up-to-date on things. Do you know what kind of ablation you'll be having (I did scan through your posts in this thread but didn't see)?

Hi everyone! My procedure is scheduled for Thursday, January 3. The Dr will be first performing a D&C, then a hysteroscopy (to look inside to make sure everything is ok), and then the ablation to the endometrial wall of the uterus. I am having it done in our local surgery center and I was told that I should only be there about 2 hours. I took Thurs and Fri off from work, and Dr said I should be ok to return on Monday. If you think of it, please remember me in prayer. I am a littler nervous, but relieved that I am able to have it done so soon. I will post an update after the procedure.

You should be ok to go back to work (I went back to the gym pretty quickly and then was promptly off for 4 weeks because of a chest infection ) but if you feel you need a little more time, take it. And make sure you're taken care of over the w/end!

I pray all goes well for you. God bless.

Hi everyone. If you think of it, could you please say a prayer for me? My procedure is tomorrow morning. I have to report to the surgery center at 6:45. I am VERY nervous tonight. I will post as soon as I am able to let you know how I made out.

Thank you :D

Hi everyone. Thank you for your prayers. Well the procedure is behind me now. Everything went really well today. I am still a little groggy from the anethesia and pain meds and a little crampy, but doing well. My Dr. said everything went great. I will go to see the Dr. for a check in about 4 weeks. Thank you again everyone for your prayers and advice.

I was wondering, since I had the D&C, I will not get my period this month, right? I was due last week and it didn't come. Also, if my cycle is 28-30 days, should I prepare for my period like normal, or could the procedure mess with my cycle? Just wondering if anyone had any ideas. I see my Dr at the end of the month.

I thinks it's something that everyone is different on.

With my ablation, I had an injection a month before the op, which thinned the lining of the uterus (so the op had better chance of greater success). It also stopped my period. The only bleeding I've had since the op was 2 days when I spotted, about 7 weeks after the op.

I'd say be prepared, but don't worry if nothing happens. If you're out and about you may want to take something with you just in case you start bleeding.

Thank you for info. I will make sure I am prepared at all times. I go back to the Dr at the end of the month for a follow-up. So far, I feel really great. I still have a very slight pinkish discharge (sorry TMI) and need a panty liner. I am hoping and praying that I have no more periods. A co-worker friend had the procedure done 5 days after me. We were joking saying that after a few months, if neither of us get our periods, we are going to burn all of our femine products in my chimanea LOL.

I refused a hysterectomy 5 years ago, I'm too young to go through menopause. (I was 34) Then my doctor said they were doing this new thing to treat endometriosis. I had mine done almost 2 years ago. My periods had become so bad they didn't stop during the 3 weeks I was going through my pre-op. It took me almost a month to recover, I was told that was due to the fact that my periods had been so bad for the months going up to it (nothing helped). My husband was wonderful though it all. I haven't had a period in almost 2 years!! This was the best thing I ever had done! No more cramps, no more putting things off because something started without warning. It has been great! If you are done having kids this is definately a great alternative to a hysterectomy.

Does an ablation stop ovulation?
Do you still have hormonal problems with mood-swings, etc?

Nope an ablation doesn't stop ovulation. I've not had a mood swing related to my cycle since I had my ablation!

Nope... all it does is remove the super thick lining that isn't shedding properly monthly.

As I said before: So very glad that I did it.

I've had relatively (twice) few cramping/pain symptoms, although they were strong.

No periods. (since Jan. 29, 2007)

My mood swings have improved, although I still have them and other symptoms on the menopausal spectrum.

Oh my, it sounds like it would be definately worth it just to cut down on my mood swings.

Landa, do you mean like hot flashes, memory loss, etc?

A-yep.

For me, insomnia comes to taunt me regularly. I do have memory lapses...not loss, though. I have to concentrate so hard that it hurts (LOL) some times to remember things that once were easy to recall.

Hot flashes have decreased dramatically in the last 5 to 6 months. Here's hoping that trend continues.

I have had my 4th period since the procedure. Seems like my pattern is 3 days of very light bleeding, only needing a panty liner. No cramps or bloating. Before the procedure I would have extremely painful cramps (missing a couple days work sometimes), VERY heavy bleeding (needing super plus tampons and a large pad) and it would last a week. I can sure handle this :D

Makes a big difference doesn't it? I sometimes wonder how I coped before the ablation.

I had this surgery last spring - APRIL 30th and so I was really praying that I would be cleared up in time for my daughter's graduation which was in MAY & then to be able to wear WHITE for her PARTY and guess what ... I did and it was a very short period too.

So, here it has been 1 YEAR and each month that goes by I am very thankful for having it done ...

~ My periods are a lot shorter & lighter ... 2 - 3 days at the most
( compared to 5 - 6 & heavy )

~ I do not go through a entire box of tampons ... And, so I still have some leftover for the next month !!

~ My moods are not cranky ones & so I just have a mood swing once in awhile & a chocolate urge from time to time !!

But for the most part I am glad that I did it. I pray that when & if this is around when my dauaghter gets older that she has it done because she is going through hard times like I did ... { she is going to be 20 this year } and so ... we will have to see !!
