I paid 63.82 a night average. I found out this year they have a weekly rate, also. By Faith Stays at Days Inn Indiana. About 10 miles away. 375 for the week. They did better than I did.

That's what I've seen happening on a LOT of the hotels/motels in that area! It's been different chains so I don't think it is the software. I think it's called 'gouging' or as those doing it say 'supply and demand'.

I normally don't book through NQC, I do my own booking because I can usually find better rates but that may have changed this year. Also my schedule is subject to change so booking myself makes that easier if I have to change. But many of the motels/hotels are higher for the entire week, but most are just going up on the weekend.

I wonder if there is something in town that weekend in addition to NQC?

I posted the info earlier but I think I would say it's an okay rate...cheaper than anything I had been looking at. I booked at Howard Johnson's near the main gate I believe. Anyway...I booked from Sunday thru Friday...Sunday was $75 and the rest was $100 per night for a grand total after taxes of $557.50 for a double room...2 adults and 2 kids. It is suppose to include breakfast. It looks like a nice place. Definitely cheaper than a week at the beach!!!

I have permanent seats for all 6 nights. Got the tickets for 2008 on Monday morning of NQC 2007 and got an upgrade on our seating. I normally don't book the hotel room until summer before NQC. We normally stay around the 3-5 miles out and the hotels sometimes drop their rates when it gets closer to NQC. I find it difficult to pay over $100/night for a room that normally books for around $60-$70/night. I don't think these hotels do any differently than any other city for a convention. Have been to Nashville for convention in February and their hotels do the same thing. It all depends upon those that want to pay the extra to be at the front door of the convention versus ability to drive.

I went to DI web site and checked prices on month prior to our date. The price everynight is 60.00. That's no discount added. Maybe NQC should change weeks!!

I hope I can type better in this post than the previous...I had to edit twice. I orginally checked the Day Inn sight but they wouldn't allow to book over 360 days in advance....if I had booked the week of this past NQC it would have allowed me. So I kept looking...
I'm hoping to take my mother with us...I grew up going with her to every GM concert in our area. I thought everyone spent New Year's and Easter Eve at the all night gospel singing at the civic center!!! Okay...I've had to edit this one 4 times...I think I better go give my poor hands rest!!!

Ok if we start now we could build our own hotel, set our own prices and it would probably pay for itself in 2 or 3 years. We could all stay free for NQC.

Try Super 8 on Central Ave. Their rates this morning (AAA) was $85.00 for a queen suite. Two queen beds and a sofa. I booked a room at the Howard Johnson when I got home (you can only book 360 days out) and the room Sun - Thursday was $67.50, when I went back to modify and extend to Friday they had gone up to $90.00 a night. I didn't modify just book Friday night seperately.

The Fairfield Inn in Shepherdsville where I stayed this year averaged $80/night. When I tried to book a few minutes ago on their 800 #, the rate was over $300/night. What's up with that?
Needles to say, I declined.

Then, I looked on the NQC site, and saw where I could book through them at that same place for $109. That's not too bad. I'm holding that price, just in case. Maybe I'll check back with the hotel after the first of the year, and see where they're at on prices. Sometimes going direct is best. Sometimes ... not so much.

The 2008 Ryder Cup, one of professional golf's biggest events starts on Tuesday after NQC ends. That's the reason we were given on why the Hampton Inn went to over $300 per night!

Are the tickets for NQC on sale yet??? I went on their website and kept getting an error message when I hit ticket info tab. Going back to my baseball game...Go Braves!!

Yes, you can get your tickets for next year off the website now. Thats how we ordered ours. You may have to try a different browser if you get an error message, or just keep trying. Sometimes on my mac I have to try a site several times to get past an error message.

Whether it be the NGC, Golf, Kentucky Derby or what for motels to gouge that much should be a crime. I know supply and demand has a lot to do with the price. There should be a price gouging law. The same thing happens with gasoline.

I'm a big believer in the free market, so I don't want government interference in pricing! I'll just take my business where I can get what I want at a price that I'm willing to pay. If enough of us do it that way, the hotels that are overcharging won't get the business and will have to lower their prices. That's where the demand part comes in!
