I'll be praying for you, Grace-N-Mercy. Sounds like you have a busy time.

I have my final exam next week for this semester. I'm looking forward to a break.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I've been reading all your posts & have been humbled. I've been taking one class each semester for the past 3 years, & it seems like it's taking forever. I work full-time & I am now an empty nester. I've been dreading taking chemistry, it's the next pre-requisite on my list. I've been struggling mainly because I'm not as involved in church ministries & bible studies like I'd been for so many years, so I feel disconnected. Those closest to me are still busy raising kids & staying home, but I knew God was compelling me to return to school & become a nurse. I'm glad I found this place. You are all an inspiration to me to press on. Thanks.

Welcome! And I salute you for your perseverance. To God be the Glory! And we'll keep you lifted in prayer concerning chemistry. Just take your time with it and pray and I'm sure you'll do fine.

Is it possible for you to make some time for bible study - maybe not every week but at least every other week? It might help you to feel more connected while at the same time providing some spiritual nourishment ...

Well - I'm done for the semester. I have to meet with my advisor sometime this week and have a lot of reading to do (I have no library privileges over the summer and have to read a few books before books are due back in June). I really struggled this semester with motivation and desire for school and barely completed my assignments for a class that I had really wanted to take. I don't know what is wrong and I'm concerned about it. I can't figure out if I'm lazy (I don't think so), undisciplined, if this is a side effect of depression, if it is spiritual warfare, or what. It really scared me because if I have another semester like the last one, I don't know if I'll make it through this degree program.

But I'm just going to trust God. I have a lot to do and have to run - but I pray that everyone will do well on their final exams. Keeping you all lifted up!

(((((rgod))))) I will keep you lifted up! I know it's tough -- I'm struggling with motivation and I just started! I do know that it's a struggle for a lot of people because we have so many other demands on our time and we (or at least I) feel the need to put things off to finish school.

I have two weeks left of this semester and fortunately, I'm out on sick leave so I have enough time to do all the reading and writing... there's a LOT of work left to do. I think I'm going to take only one class in the second half next semester so I can have a little break to get some things done and recover from surgery.

I'll definitely be praying for a speedy recovery for you and also that you get a chance to complete your tasks over the next couple of weeks. You are in the home stretch - I'm rooting for you!!!!

Finals are next week. I feel good about them for the most part. Voice juries, too...

And that's the problem. My 10 year old came home from school with sore throat and fever. I'll take her to the Dr., but what I'm worried about is catching it from her just in time to keep me from completing voice juries.

Would y'all pray? I also have a HUGE project in Astronomy that is going to eat up time I would have used to study for my other two finals...

Prayer appreciated.

Thanks!

Btw...I lurk in here, but want everyone to know that I pray for you.

I'll definitely pray for you besideherself - particularly that you'll remain well through the voice juries. Are you studying classical voice? I pursued it briefly as an undergrad and enjoyed it, but knew it wasn't the right fit for me. Thanks a lot for your prayers as well.

Well, I received my grades today. It went better than expected, considering I hit a wall the last month of classes. But this semester is over. I can graduate very quickly - next semester if I wanted to, which would put me a year and a half ahead of schedule (I was originally planning to go for a longer program, but two shorter programs became available and I decided to go that route.) I basically know what I want to do (gain writing and film/video editing skill) but will not be able to really gain that here ... so I feel like the next classes are going to be a waste of my time. But I'm trying to complete it because I'm so close to finishing (only 4 more courses and I'm done with the master's degree) and because I know that the Lord led me here. So, this summer is going to be a time of prayer and reflection for me.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers over this semester and I'll keep you all lifted too as you complete your tests and finals ...

Yes, I am studying classical voice. My major is Vocal Music. I am loving it.

Good going, rgod! You never know what God will do after you finish. Could be you won't need any more schooling at all to do what He's put the desire in your heart to do. He's opened some amazing doors for others, He can do it for you!

Are you having any struggles with anything like this (or different struggles)? Anyone else?

I just finished COM 702 -- Quantitative Research (statistics). This is the last required class in the Regent U. syllabus. I went through the semester in a state of terror mitigated only by faith. During the last week, I found myself "living by faith" again, pushing on in the face of certain failure by claiming certain promises. At one point, I took two half-days of vacation, to complete a paper due by noon the next day. Went home for lunch, worked straight through the night (not as easy to do when you're 56!) and clicked the [Send] button right on time. God (and the teacher) were merciful, and my final grade was an A-. The experience was an ordeal, though. Part of the price one pays to achieve one's goals. (the Afrikaans word for trial is -- oordeel.)

I have a "Calvinist rosary." In 1996, I took a deck of 100 index cards, and wrote on each a word or phrase that summarized an aspiration. As part of my devotions, I cycle through these before the Lord. The first card, and therefore also the last, is for WISDOM. Many of the other things I'm praying for are different facets of a career as a writer.

Some of my cards have been "retired." God gave us two more healthy children, for example.

Other cards have been shelved for the moment. I am not praying to become a house group leader at this point of my life, although that yearning used to consume me. Russian can wait. Those cards rest in the fireproof box with our mortgage papers. After I complete my doctorate, that card will join the "retired" cards, and God and I will talk some more about home-based ministry.

Time is God's way to keep everything from happening at once. I can't do everything at every stage of my life. Different seasons require different diligences, and different neglects. I hope to rake the leaves off my yard soon, for example, but dare not neglect my wife!

Please pray for me this has been a struggle for me to get up every morning and go to school mainly because my ds decided to stay with g-ma &g-pa for a while. The past 3 months have been rough fussing over him and where the better place is for him (he and his twin sis just turned 12 this month). I am a single mom/wl and this semester that is now over was taking 13 credits. I'm still trying to finish papers but this past weekend my grandmother past away so add more drama to the mix with out of state relatives coming in. AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I'M STRESSED BEYOND BELIEF, GOD PLEASE GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO FINISH AND TO FINISH STRONG WITH DECENT GRADES!!!!!!!

I'm not meaning to yell just speaking louder than normal, but that's difficult to show on this thing.

I and my children all have a special part in the service.

Angel;

Just know some things will have to fall through the cracks. Set your priorities: what is more important, the children or the family or a perfect funeral or a paper over a subject you'll never study again; and then stick with it. It's only for a week or so until the semester is over.

I, too, have had incredible stress this semester, but mine was early on. Looking back, I don't know how God got me through it, but He did and I'm still relatively sane and finished with good grades. He can do the same for you.

I'll be praying for you.

Angel, I will pray for you during this difficult time.

I'm finished for the semester, and did well. I will not be taking a summer course, but reviewing algebra for my fall course. I haven't done algebra in a lllooonnnggg time. I hope I haven't forgotten it all.

I'm taking a month break, though. I have some things to catch up on.
