That's what you usually say about me!

Good that you've got a few extra hours, Darcy. At least time wise, not money wise. I don't envy your schedule.

Glad you got to spend some time with your dd's too.

Hey, all!

J and C have returned to Denver and Boston, respectively. The performance last night was a lot of fun, and we went out to dinner VERY late.....I got to bed at 1 am! So, I slept in a little bit this morning, but I'm still pretty beat.

So, I'll be back in the morning to tell y'all about what I will spend the next week doing......

Morning, all!

I will probably not be back here before I hit the road for the hike tomorrow, so let me tell you about my coming week.

I am a staffer-in-training for my denomination's district youth hike, on the Appalachian Trail. I will be up in Virginia, near the Maryland line, for about a week, leaving Saturday and returning the following Saturday. I've been working out at the gym in preparation for a good while, and I think I'm about as ready as I'm going to get. Admittedly, it's going to be some serious work, since we're going to be covering around 50 miles in the coming week.....and I'll be carrying a 30 lb. pack!

I'm excited, nervous, a bit scared. But where God guides, He provides, and I know I'm supposed to be there. So, let's see what He's got for me out in the woods.

Sounds gruelling and exciting, Darcy. I hope everything goes well for all of you. I don't envy you with the weight of your pack.

Me too, sweets. This is something I have wanted to do for a while, but I never had the nerve to try. God does have a sense of humor, having them ask ME to be staff! But, I'm thinking of spending the rest of my career working with kids, so let's see if it's God's leading or just my ego!

Well, it'll be good experience for you!

Do you have to carry your own food too, or just things like your tent, clothes etc?

I am limited to 18 pounds total for my own gear, that's clothing, pack, and sleeping bag. The rest of the weight is group gear, things like the food and cooking equipment.

And I haven't been able to pack my pack yet, I won't get it till tonight.....
