Ooh, this could get me into so much trouble.

But going off of what Pam has said (which was very good, BTW) but maybe doing something productive will occupy the time.

"Hey Honey, can you help me with this?"

Should I watch the Atlanta baseball game tonight or do laundry? Hmmm, decisions, decisions . . .

Nah, just loosen the knot a bit. After all, it is the weekend.

hey sweetums, could you chain the door shut at Ben & Jerry's?

I happen to have found my new favorite snack, and it is not good for me in more ways than one!

Yes you are. My first guess would be a faulty switch and the motor or belt would be my backup guesses.

Is the switch a knob or push button or what? And does it appear to be loose?

switch to turn on is a dail... could possibly be loose as you can pull it out more than you could before.... but how would you know if that's the problem and / or how would you fix that? would you have to take the door apart?

The switch sounds like it is worn. There should be a covering over the switch that is attached to the door by screws. You can take the covering off and look for any obvious problems. If you feel comfortable in changing the switch yourself, you can google for a place to buy the switch. If not you can use it as it is and just jiggle the switch to use it or call a repairman to fix it.

During the GT when my vehicle was towed twice that weekend (now I know why I didn't go), I discovered an 80something year old man who had never jump started a vehicle. I showed him how. I have too much practice with this.

I do have this, "Hey Honey"... Can you please put my sliding screen back on the sliders, so it actually slides?

While it's out, clean the sliders really well, top and bottom. The top goes in first and then the bottom lifts onto the slider rail. Give it a spritz of WD40 to keep it sliding well.

If the top is sitting on a roller then your rollers may need adjusting to keep it on the track.

I'd rehang them for you myself but my broken wrist won't allow that kind of strain.

How's your wrist, John? I'm still struggling with the door.

And while you're here, maybe you can help me w/my windows. They're the kind that crank out to a 90 degree angle from the house. Two of the windows' cranks don't work. Thus, I can't open the windows. Of course, if I could get them open, it would be mighty hard to shut them.

I think I need to take one of those classes at the vo-tech this fall. Should I start w/electricity or auto mechanics?

Hi pruned, John is on a trip so may I give a suggestion?

About the windows It sounds like the threads on the crank may be stripped. They should be attached with a screw. Take it off and go to the hardware store for a replacement.

BTW. How are things with you?

Thanks for the suggestion, Gary. Of course, I've already done this. Multiple times. Even when I take a handle/crank off another window that works, fit it on the window that doesn't, open/close the window for confirmation, remove the handle that works and take it with me to the hardware store, hand it to the handy hardware man whom I know personally (a member of my church) so he can make the correct selection for me -- still the fit isn't good. I've almost decided to purchase every size at once. Surely one would fit, and then I would return the rest. It's just that I want it to be easy and not to have to deal w/it, and instead it's a headache.

I think the door needs adjusting. I need more skills, and more than that, I need the desire to do it by myself.

OK - too much complaining.

Things are OK. I've been better. I've been worse. I'm somewhere inbetween. I really need a vacation from my life. It looks like I'll get a week's break quite soon. It couldn't come at a better time. How about that? God delivers me from myself on schedule!

It sounds like the window mechanism itself is worn. I am a visual person and I could tell you more if I could actually see it.

And I am about ready to take a 2 week vacation myself. I will spend about a week watching baseball for most of the day and night, so I will be happy.
