Is this the same Joseph "Animal" Laurinaitis? His son is a Linebacker for the Buckeyes!

I saw a moving interview with Jeff Jarett, he is still grieving the loss of his wife, so I don't know if he will be back in the ring soon. Thankfully, she is present with the Lord.

TNA had a PPV last night. Kurt Angle won the title. Road Warrior Animal took Scott Stiener's place in the tag match with Rick against Team 3D.

LM1dog -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/23/2007 2:44:10 PM)

Night of Champions is this Sunday night. Any predictions?

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/24/2007 9:12:31 PM)

Nitro is the new ECW champion. Benoit had to pull out due to "personal reasons" according to wwe.com

Marella retains IC title due to an Umaga disqualification.

MVP retains US title.

Deuce and Domino def Sgt. Slaughter and Jimmy Snuka. (WWE Tag titles)

Chavo retains cruiserweight title.

Cade and Murdoch def The Hardyz (World Tag titles)

Edge def Batista (World Heavyweight, count out)

Candice Michelle is new Women's Champion. (First title to actually change hands on the night!)

Will updaet though the night, feel free to discuss!

Personally, I don't see Nitro as ECW in GENERAL, much less champion.

What the heck are Slaughter and Snuka doing in the ring with guys a quarter of their age????

Why is the Last Chance match BEFORE the Women's Championship? Isn't the World Heavyweight a bigger title???

LM1dog -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/24/2007 10:09:52 PM)

24wrestling.com reports that Edge wins by count out.

Snuka is Deuce's father or stepfather.

Candice wins womens title.

Cena wins.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 9:17:46 AM)

According to wikipedia, Deuce is Snuka's adopted son. This actually puts Deuce in the same family as High Chief Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson, the Wild Samoans, Rikishi, Umaga, and The Rock. Interesting...

noblesinger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 11:03:46 AM)

24wrestling.com reports that Edge wins by count out.

Of course that chisel-chinned creep would get counted out! It's another way to keep screwing Dave Batista out of his rightful place as World Champion. I'd love, for once, to see these matches be done in an unscripted manner; just let those guys go at it for real. If they did, I don't think that wrestlers like Cena, Edge, etc., would ever be champions because the monsters (Batista, Viscera, Umaga, Khali) would rule the world. After all, you know what they say: Size Matters!

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 11:08:20 AM)

singer, you misinterpreted: Batista is the one who was outside the ring. Evidently the action spilled out there and Edge got back in in time while Batista did not.

noblesinger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 11:12:28 AM)

Oops! My bad! Of course, it comes from not seeing the PPV. Que sera sera!

WWE.com and 24wrestling.com are both reporting that Benoit AND HIS FAMILY is dead. They say local authorities are investigating.

This doesn't appear to be another "death" angle. HOWEVER, last I heard he still lives in the Atlanta area, and the local paper's online edition (ajc.com) has not picked this up yet.

24wrestling.com is now confirming that this is NOT, repeat NOT, an angle.

just found an article on wsbtv.com (one of the local TV news programs) confirming the story, but no new details.

wikipedia reports that Benoit called in yesterday before thePPV and said that his family was spitting up blood. That is a wikipedia article though, and therefore its accuracy is unknown.

ajc.com is now reporting that "officials would not say how the family died other than to say that they were not shot to death".

Dancre -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 8:10:54 PM)

REPORTS say Chris Benoit, one of TV wrestling's leading personalities, and his family have been found dead in their home.
The bodies of Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their young son were found after the wrestler missed an engagement to attend to a "family crisis", according to TMZ.com.

Police are investigating the scene.

The official WWE website reported the deaths and said the upcoming episode of Raw would serve as a tribute to Benoit.

I think it's true. How horrible. His baby was only around a few years old.

it's in AJC newspapers: http://www.ajc.com/news/content/metro/fayette/stories/2007/06/25/0625benoit.html

I know wrestling is 100% fake & set-up, of course McMahon was not blown up-not a single news story about it. But the Benoit family mysterious deaths I believe...waiting to see a legitimate news article.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution picked it up...

So many wrestlers dying in their 40s and 50s (wasn't Eddie Guerrero 38?)...

noblesinger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 10:22:14 PM)

I stopped by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Web site just a few minutes ago, and the sleaze artists were out in force. One goober kept posting that Chris was in "roid rage" and was a "psycho" (He wasn't smart enough to spell it correctly, though!). Another one asked if nude pictures of Nancy (Chris' wife) were going to be available online now that she was dead. Why is it that any notable persons death brings out the worst in people? Good grief! Even if Rosie were to die tonight, I would have the decency to keep my thoughts to myself or only share them with Mary.

And I certainly hope that Vince stops all of these "death" stunts and storylines. Maybe some good can come from the death of Chris Benoit after all. God have mercy on Chris and Nancy's remaining son, as well as the rest of their extended family.

Vince McMahon started the show tonight with the announcement of Chris and his family's deaths. My respect for Mr. McMahon just went up that he suspended his story-line in order to pay due respect to this tragedy.

I know how you feel. I wasn't a big fan of Falwell but it was upsetting to see people celebrating his death. Look at it like this: when these people spew their venom their "thoughts" become irrelevant and they no longer have a part in the discussions that adults conduct.

My sympathy to the surviving son and other friends and family members of Benoit along with his wife and son. The other wrestlers must feel that they are far too use to doing these tribute shows (Pillman, Hart, Guerrero, Benoit). Not to mention the inactive wrestlers (too many to list).

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/25/2007 11:42:05 PM)

It has been confirmed through wwe.com that this was an apparent "double" murder/suicide.

Clearly, someone in that home snapped over something.

Tragic. Simply tragic.

Mine too. I'm glad the whole exploding limo thing is (hopefully) over.

sherry1985 -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/26/2007 12:38:19 AM)

Its a sad day for westerling chris beniot was a really good westelr and it was too soon to lose him and its sad and sick what kind of people we have in this world that can murder a child and humen being. Alot of prayes to the beniot fmaily.

Rufas2000 -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/26/2007 1:03:56 AM)

Exactly what I was hoping wouldn't be the case. Authorities believe Benoit killed his wife and kid then himself. Link to AP story via Tamba Bay Online below:

Benoit Article

Info I am referring to in this post is about in 3rd paragraph. I hope it ends up not being true but authorities usually are cautious in these situations. But they might be wrong.
