Time to resurrect a dinosaur thread. Let's have a talk about pro wrestling. If you want to talk about its evils, or a favorite wrestler, match, etc. Let's have it out.

Anyone catch Judgement Day last night? I hear that Cena was able to topple Khali, but there is some kind of controversy about Khali's foot being under the rope.

And does anyone think this is the end for Michaels?

Is it the end for Michaels? Maybe, but knowing that dude he'll be back in some capacity. He makes Vince too much money not to be.

I'm more concerned about 'Taker. I know he didn't have a match at Judgement Day, but I was at Backlash and it only confirmed what I've been seeing on Smackdown of late (and even at the RR): dude is getting old and tired. The way he wrestles, it is honestly amazing that he's been able to do it as long as he has.

Cena is being shaped to be the next Hogan or maybe SCSA (though I think Lashley is being groomed for the SCSA route). Khali was simply Cena's Andre. Note that after the cameras went off HBK at Backlash, he was standing beside the curtain applauding Cena...

That might explain why Cena came to his aid after being ambushed by Orton the other night. Taker will be back. The way the led him out, he's going to be doing haunthing this with Edge for a while, probably while he heals up. The Undertaker is too stubborn to stay down.

I was surprised that Kane didn't have a match last night. They need to work up a new storyline for that feller.

I'm very sick of Lashley and McMahon. I don't even like ECW and I was appaled when McMahon got the title.

I believe that HBK is going to have knee surgery sometime soon. I think Taker has a torn bicep.
Who would you guys like to see hold a world championship that has never held one? I would like to see Hardcore Holly get a run as champ.

I'd like to see HBK, Ric Flair,and Taker have at least one more title run before they retire.

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of ECW, I would like to see CM Punk get a title shot. From Raw, I really don't know. HBK for sure. From Backlash, I would like to see Kennedy get a shot. I started out really disliking that guy, but prior to him losing the Money in the Bank match, he grew on me. Especially when he came out and said that he wasn't going to pull an Edge, but announced exactly when he planned on cashing in his Money in the Bank contract.

I'm thinking now that we aren't going to see HBK until Summerslam. What do you think? A DX reunion?

I saw a on a wrestling website were HBK might be out til survivor series.
I think when HHH comes back, he will turn on HBK at some point. I believe he prefers to be a heel.

HHH is only believable as a face when he's in DX. Virtually the entirety of his career outide DX - particularly as Triple H- is as a heel.

Still find it funny that they had to produce all the drama when he goes against Vince when EVERYONE knows Triple H is Vince's son-in-law and father of Vince's granddaughter....

Triple H does enjoy being the heel. Like when Raw returned to USA and he had that big feud with Ric Flair, (which they seemed to forget last year when Triple H was drooling all over the Nature Boy) But unlike Edge, Triple H is the heel that I still find myself rooting for for some reason.

So, what's with the Snitsky promo's on Raw? Anyone think he might be jumping over there?

Edge is just a punk. Can't stand the guy. But that is EXACTLY the reaction WWE wants him to get, so hey, he's doing a GREAT job!

Triple H is just cool. Heel or face, he's the guy you just wish you were.

Snitsky had a promo on Raw?? (Sorry, DVR!!) I'm HOPING it was simply because Lashley was in the Gauntlet match...

Hey I wouldn't mind seeing them both as heels. They both fit the bill very well.

I hope y'all don't mind, but I'm gonna rant just a small bit.

I'm tired of the WWE being split into two shows, and each show having it's own championship. Each of them has its own "secondary" title, and its own tag title.
They need to combine the two shows. They need to combine the two heavyweight titles with a tournament. Ditto for the intercontinental and US titles. They need to bring in women that can be competitive in the ring and not just eye candy. (That part just sickens me.[:@]) They need to treat the cruiserweight championship with the same prestige that the heavyweight championship receives. After all Rey Mysterio as cruiserweight champ is believable. Heavyweight champ RM is not. The belt is bigger than he is! Actually weight classes would be good even if they only had light heavyweight (aka cruiserweight) and heavyweight. Seeing someone the size of Rey Mysterio going up against someone the size of Kane or the Undertaker has no appeal for me.
Finally, they need to give the belt to someone other than Cena. I like Cena. But they pushed him too far, too fast.
If I had my picks as to who would make a good champion, I'd pick HHH as the WWE champ, Mr Kennedy as US/Intercontinental champ, the Hardys as tag champs (they're from NC so I gotta stick with them[;)]), and Mickie James as women's champ. The talent pool in the cruiserweight division is very deep (if the ones in that weight class would stay there) so that's a little tougher to pick a champion.

I think WWE is actually - SLOWLY - going back to a one company, two shows approach rather than the current "two companies" approach. Hence you're seeing more interplay between the brands - more "cohosted" PPVs, more superstars showing up on the other brand, etc...

I hope so. I think that TNA would be a good company if they could get some more good talent too. If the WWE were to completely go back to a one company format with two shows, then their talent pool would be a bit deep. They could afford to let a few more go over to TNA. Then we'd have a good selection in wrestling.

TNA appears to have picked up where WCW left off, both in terms of talent and management. Not surprising, seeing as Jim Cornett owns it.

Vince is a saavy businessman with a heart. (Unlike his character). Because of that, the ONLY way he'll release talent is if they break one of his drug/ alcohol rules or if it is determined that there is simply NO WAY to salvage that wrestler. Because of THAT, the only talent TNA will ever get from him are the druggies (ala Jeff Hardy a few years ago), the broken and useless ones (ala Angle and Christian), or the old stars that vowed never to work for Vince, yet need the work (ala Sting). The ones that DON'T fit into those categories yet are working for TNA are simply biding their time waiting on Vince to give them a call.

I would love to see the championship go back to being one title. That's always bothered me. And I can't agree more with the idea of going back to one show. The only problem is though they have such a large stable of superstars for both shows that WWE would end up have to air a four hour program just to give everybody that deserves screen time some time.

I think there does need to be a major shake up in that company though, because there just seems to be too many injuries happening all at once, too many boring storylines, and not enough wrestling going on.

I agree also that it's time for a new champion, while I like Cena, he's had it long enough. Just anyone but the great armpit shower Khali though. I can't stand that guy. Hardyz, I would love for them to keep the titles, but I think that Cade and Murdoch are playing some kinda game to get in their heads to get the titles from them. I also agree that the US and Intercontental Titles should be merged as one and that Kennedy should get a shot at it. I feel terrible for him for losing that Money in the Bank shot. I used to hate the guy, but what can I say, he grew on me.

And the women....I don't even know. Half of them look like they have no business in the ring. Mickie James and Melina do have some kinda talent, but I think Melina has done a good job keeping the belt. I just don't like her. I miss Trish.

TNA...I don't even know what to say. They are supposed to be the better outfit, but I watched it the other night and it is just as bad as the WWE with ridiculous storylines and telegraphed moves. I notice Hogan hasn't showed up over there yet. I wonder if that deal went through.

And speaking of Hogan, isn't it interesting that he blasted the Warrior for demanding more money prior to a match and then turned around and did the same thing with WM23? I used to love that guy, now he's nothing but a hypocrite. I'm very disappointed in the Hulkster.

Did anyone hear the rumors about Hitman and Vince reconciling? Think he might come back?

What is this about Hogan and WM23? I thought he had already said he wasn't going back into the ring at all...

Hitman and Vince's reconciliation was evident last year when Hart was inducted into the Hall of Fame...

I'd like to see someone else as champ for a while. John Cena is pretty much the face of the company right now. He just turned 30 and I guess there gonna ride it as long as they can.All the guys they could put the title on are injured (HHH, HBK) or stay in trouble (Orton). I dont think they will put it on Khali.

I think if WWE went back to one world title and one secondary title, a lot of guys would try to leave because they would not get any exposure. I like the three championships in WWE, but the ECW title looks like a replica or a secondary title.
For the ECW title to be like the others, the need to let Lashley beat people like Umaga and other main event level stars, not Vince.

Oh my goodness. The last time I watching professional wrestling, Hulk was making an attempt at acting. The Hitman, Warrior and Brutus Beefcake were definately drawing in the women fans. The Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth were all the rage.

I quit watching when they started having so many shows on PPV. At that time, we lived out in the country and had no access to cable and no money for satellite. That was a turn off to me because even if I could've afforded it, it would not be accessible for me to watch the events. I felt they left a lot of fans out.

BTW- I once had a few minutes to chat with Bret Hart when he was labeled a "bad guy"- he was very nice.

I've never had any problems with Hitman, nor any of the heels. (Well, maybe Edge...) MOST of the wrestlers appear to be - from everything I've read - decently nice guys off camera. Though I could tell you stories about Lex Luger (he lives in the area I grew up in and my parents still live in) that would make your skin crawl.

I will say this about Hitman though: EVERY SINGLE auto-bio I have read from someone that wrestled him said that as a wrestler, he SUCKED. He could cut an amazing promo and sell a match to a crowd, but from a wrestler-to-wrestler perspective, only Bill Goldberg was worse. (And that wasn't by much!) Also, his problems with Vince were well documented, and while he may have a point as far as Owen goes, Montreal was entirely his (Hitman's) making.

Speaking of screwed-up career moves though, what about Lita (Amy Dumas) leaving?

I am unimpressed with Shane O'Mac and Coachman.

I am impressed with Kennedy (Smackdown). I hope he comes back from his tricep surgery.

What is HBK's condition? He had at least one concussion in his career?

I am more inclined to watch TNA than any of WWE's brands. I like AJ Styles (even as a heel), Jeff Jarrett, the Steiner Brothers and Samoa Joe.

BTW, remember Jeff Jarrett in prayer: his wife lost her battle with cancer [:(]

After posting in this thread, I decided to look up some of the guys I used to watch. Ed Leslie (Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake) is now a born-again Christian. He's started some sort of Christian Wrestling group.

I was sad to read that Miss Elizabeth, Owen Hart and Rick Rude are all dead now.

If you can find the book "Wrestling With God" you'll see a few well known names. Ivan Koloff is in the book, and I had the chance to meet him in person. I have rarely met a more gracious and kind man. I used to know a whole list of them, but now I can't think of a single one. Sorry.
And I will definitely pray for Jeff Jarrett. That has to be tough.

It was supposed to be Hogan v. Khali for Wrestlemania 23 (then I also heard Hogan v. Big Show) kinda a throwback to WM3 when he slammed Andre. Hogan demanded more money than the other wrestlers and Vince told him where to go. So Hogan left the company and is now in talks with TNA to become part owner. At least that was the last rumor circulating. So basically, he pulled the same thing the Warrior did for that Summerslam when he told Vince he wasn't going out to the ring unless Vince gave him an additional $500,000. Vince fired him right after that, and that was where the rumors of the Warrior dying began.

As to Christian wrestlers, Ted Dibiase opened a Christian youth camp. Also, Eddie Guerrero was devout, supposedly he was the first wrestler to get all the guys in the back to do a group prayer before each show.

Bam Bam Bigelow also just passed away. I remember when Owen Hart died, that was a tragedy.

Lita leaving, I think she was trying to follow Trish's suit. The WWE wanted to make room for up and coming divas, (I still don't think any of them hold a candle to Trish Stratus, but oh well) and Lita and Trish both were getting up there in years. I mean they aren't ancient, but you know the WWE, the younger the better.
