I have noticed that at most multi-group (three or more) events that I have attended, 25-30 percent of the audience doesn't return after the intermission. Do you stay? Why or why not?

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 9:29:52 PM)

I can only think of one instance when Mrs. C. and I left a concert at intermission. Sometimes the best is yet to come as last nights concert in Sevierville. All the singers got on stage to sing with 3 Bridges their last song and they were not the last group to sing. It was a good night.
But we never leave at intermission. Got to get our money's worth.[:)]

I never leave at intermission. I never get enough SG in me to justify such a drastic move.[;)][:D]

DeeAnnBailey -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 9:42:40 PM)

I don't remember ever leaving at intermission. I see it happening but we are usually some of the first to arrive and the last to leave!

L5FanLady -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 9:43:48 PM)

Yes, and in fact, it's hard to get me to leave after the whole concert is over. Just ask Scott Fowler.[;)]

KingsmenQuartetFan -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 9:45:57 PM)

I stay after intermission....never leave unless of an emergency

davidpb -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 9:46:39 PM)

I recently went to a concert and the after-intermission part was excellent, each group sang 15-20 minutes each. Most of the songs that were sung were requests. Many people left during the intermission and people were even getting up and leaving while an invitation was given. I was blown away [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

DahBassSinger -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 9:46:49 PM)

No, I have to stay because we usually have a second set to do. If I go to see a concert as a fan, I stay to the bitter end.

That brings us back to the previously posted L5fanlady "stalker" thread doesn't it? [sm=eek.gif]

Never! I limit my stalking to concert times. I'm just a part-timer, you know.[:D]

Wait a minute.....what thread are you talking about??[&:]

Hey David....did you know "fan" is short for "fanatic"? [8D]

armydude -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 10:08:38 PM)

I have on rare occasions left at intermission, but only as I'm forced to do so by time requirements. Sometimes I have to get up EARLY the next day, and I have to leave early to compensate. But that's a rarity. Most of the time, I take the next day off from work as well.

Kerrlaw1 -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 10:43:09 PM)

I have left after intermission, at concerts by certain promoters where I have been disappointed by the "after intermission" portion.

It is very disappointing for the MC to say "come back for the second half", wait 30 minutes, and the "second half" is three songs.

I have left at intermission as well, not often, and never during an invitation! Most times it is a time factor of traveling, next day activity, and disappointment factor as in the previous thoughts! It usually is not a second half but a few minutes by each group. I prefer no intermission, just go through the whole sing and go home!

AH, so you are the crazy lady that he speaks of.......Just kidding![;)]

As to the intermission. Sometimes its good for a bathroom break, but most of the time, I wish they would just keep going. Save the intermission time to spend with the public. I know the guys are always in a "hurry" to get packed up and head down the road. So why not skip the intermission and give the folks an extra half hour or so.
I would never even think of missing a second of music to leave early, that has got to be a sin![:D]

MissGizmo -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/6/2007 11:47:57 PM)

I have never left early from any concert. I came to hear the music, and I want to hear it all. I usually wait until the traffic clears out before I think of heading home also.

dbmurray -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 1:05:54 AM)

I typically stay for the entire show, except on occasions when I'm working the door or something to help out a promoter friend and it's a group I'm not particularly crazy about...then I may leave at intermission.

Kingsmen-fan -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 2:12:51 AM)

We always stay till the very end [:D][:D]

L5FanLady -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 4:05:00 AM)

As a performer, and as all of you other singers can testify, intermission is a "voice break" for the singers.[;)]

I do this at Gaither Homecoming concerts. It is fascinating to watch them disassemble a large stage, lights, everything, and load it onto trucks in about the time it takes the artists to finish working the crowd and pack up the product tables.

GVfan -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 8:20:55 AM)

The only times I would consider leaving at the intermission are 1) I'm not enjoying the group(s) or 2) we have a 3-4 hour travel time to get back home.

frances67 -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 8:27:01 AM)

I always stay to the end of the concert. I have only left early once, which was during the first half,
because my father had gotten sick. I enjoy southern gospel concerts and I want to hear it all. [:D]

AdamEdwards -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 8:28:33 AM)

I've never left a concert during the intermission.......even if the groups weren't doing well. You never know what you might miss........

Seaton -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 8:37:53 AM)

99% of the time I stay until the last note.

gospelady -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 10:17:41 AM)

I never leave until 'the fat lady sings'! LOL I'm usually early & never ever leave before the last note is sung! I don't want to miss a thing!

musicnerd -> RE: Do You Stay After The Intermission??? (5/7/2007 10:27:25 AM)

Leaving at the intermission is like buying 1/2 a Coke at the concession stand, especially if you bought a ticket. Better, it's like leaving church right before the preaching.

I don't leave a ball game until the clock says 0:00 either, my team winning or losing.
