I had heard that. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned in the other article.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: 1860

The Pony Express began its short but memorable run on April 3, 1860.

Over the next 18 months, dozens of men---ranging in age from 11 to mid-forties---rode horses over the 2,000-mile route to deliver the mail. The business failed, but it secrued a place in history.

More that 240 words first entered print the same year the Pony Express began it's brief and romanticised life.

CLICK!

Would you allow your 11 year old to do that?

And NOOOOO I wasn't there when the Pony Express started.

Cell phones and bees- I am having a hard time not classifyin' that in the junk science drawer. #1 our bees up and left in November last year. it is classified as CCD Colony Collapse Disorder. #2 we live in the middle of no where. #3 Don't say cell phone stuff is every where cause we tried Nextel, Cellular, Sprint, and another provider and did not get a signal at all ZIP nada NOTHING down here. we BARELY get a signal from Alltel. #4 I don't know of anyone that stands around on their cell phones while working their hives.

My Honey seems to think it may be some newer "people safe" pesticide farmers are using.

It was VERY odd- to pull the top off on November 16th 2006 and see lots of bees then go to the mountains for 7 days and come back and take the top off November 25th 2006 and find absolutely NOTHING. No dead bees or anything- Sure we had a "warmer than usual" winter but it wasn't THAT much warmer than the year before.

My theory? Aliens.

Happy Birthday Yesterday to Me!

Hiyas! Is everyone normal still?

dd dragged me to the library which is fine 'cause she did a great job of catching up on reading the books Mama has been wanting her to finish at home. She is a voracious reader so I cut her off from the library for a few weeks to get more of other books read.

we are doing well, including my son in Iraq. Just when hh and I were ready to get more worried than usual 'cause of the news yesterday, we received two e-mails from my son. He has been going on these missions that last days or nearly a week at a time.

FYI...The 9 soldiers killed yesterday is the biggest loss for the 82nd Airborne since June 1969, when 12 paratroopers were ambushed and killed in Vietnam.

Mornin' Mornin'

I'm singing happy thoughts because it's Fryday!

Not sure why I'm thinking about food so early in the AM, but what is everyone gonna eat for supper? Going out to eat or cooking in?

Remember that rain stuff we were talking about? Well we're having lots more of it. And last night was teh loudest thunder I have ever heard in my life. Of course, my husband and children slept through it, but I've talked to other people today who heard it too, so I'm reasonably sure I'm not crazy.

I'm thinking soccer practice will be cancelled tonight, although the boys would have fun playing in the mud, I'm sure. I guess we'll just have to save that pleasure for the game tomorrow.

I am antsy today. Don't know why, but I can't seem to sit still.

Sure they do, Smax... sure they do!

Now just lay back and let the nurses put this nice new jacket on. It won't hurt a bit!

See I was thinking of the first day of May and now you tell me 'cinco' means the FIFTH???
I've never been able to speak or read (or type) in French.

Once upon a time, I heard about someone who drank a fifth on the fifth, but I shouldn't be about that either, I guess.

I'd dance round the room 'cept'n I am peeved that my properly treated roses have a disease that the treatment was s'possed to KILL and then I got my snips out to snip off the diseased parts and the snips spring srung across the lawn and I couldn't find it.

Then, cause I felt like I had to do SOMETHING I got my cornmeal out and sprinkled it under the bushes(it helps kill the disease) and I managed to get it all over myself (Wind) I came inside thinking I'd done a good thing and went to my clothes bucket(no dresser folks- don't like um... got a clear plastic tub on the shelf in my closet.) and discovered that in my sleep depraved state I did not start the washer last night and I just got cornmeal all over my LAST pair of clean pants.

All that and I did not have time to wash clothes before we are due at the library.

SOOOOOOOOO

I have triple trolled myself. Or was that 4 ?

Least the spring didn't hit me in the face when it sprung right?

I am afraid I won't be able to enjoy spring til I get my snips re-sprung.......

It may yet rain.....

I may yet get to be a walking corn muffin!

So, aside from my laughable predicament- have you heard any thing that has made ya laugh, groan, cry, or wonder WHY lately?
