ORIGINAL: Relztrah Epic Movie, the only movie I have actually walked out of. A dreadful loss of time and money. Degrading, offensive and vile. That's the last time I'm letting my son make the choice of movie we go to. Most readers younger than me--I'm 52--won't remember the hype surrounding My Dinner With André from years ago which was supposed to be one of those artsy, "meaningful" movies. Instead, it was the most colossal bore I have ever witnessed. Actually, I had the opportunity to watch My Dinner With Andre a few years back, and I don't think it was that bad... and I'm 31! I guess at my age I needed some tranquil cinema that relies more on character development, via dialogue, sans the ADD-type, action that so permeate films in my generation and younger! ...and I enjoyed watching Glengary Glen Ross!

Agreed. And as much as you can discount popularity = quality, when something is say, the highest grossing film of all time, I think suggesting it is also the worst is pretty silly.

Agreed. And as much as you can discount popularity = quality, when something is say, the highest grossing film of all time, I think suggesting it is also the worst is pretty silly. I would have to agree that Titanic was the worst big budget film. It had mega dollars behind it with mega stars and wasted it. They traded in the opportunity to tell a real story based on real historical people with compelling lives for a grade B at best fictional romance. Most people who have seen the movie don't even know that one of the characters who had a 30 second on-screen moment was John Paul Getty, the richest man in the world at that time. Leonardo DiCaprio was allowed to act in his sleep instead of pushed to excellence. Kate Whatsername was given horrible dialogue that consisted mostly of yelling "Jack, Jack, Jack". Cathy Bates was given maybe 5 minutes total screen time as the Unsinkable Molly Brown (a real person)--a huge waste of talent. If Titanic had been a mid range budget movie put out by a mediocre producer/director and relatively unknown cast, I would agree that this wasn't the worst movie ever. But, given the potential that a movie about one of the most famous and most tragic events in history with the budget and cast that this movie had I will classify it as one of the worst.

Worst movies I've actually seen: The Master of Disguise The Adventures of Pluto Nash Speed 2: Cruise Control and as much I like superheroe movies Batman & Robin Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (this hurt being a big fan of a Superman. this one killed the franchise. superman 3 didn't help) Catwoman Battlefield Earth(saw this one to see how bad it really was) Jump In From Justin to Kelly (5 minute of this and I swear i could see my nikes in the toilet) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Shatner should not direct)

Ace Ventura movies---so Stupid!!!!! The #1 in my book--Swordfish. What a waste of talent by John Travola, Halle Berry (sp?) and Hugh Jackman. I didn't see it in the theater, but I rented it from Blockbuster...what a waste of money that was. Tuck Everlasting--wife and kids love it, I think it's way too boring.

I've seen some really lousy ones, but the Saw movies rank right up there.

ExpandedUniverse~ What was there to like in the Weatherman?? In my personal opinion, there was not one redeeming quality in it; save the fact that it ended :)

ORIGINAL: pezdispenser ExpandedUniverse~ What was there to like in the Weatherman?? In my personal opinion, there was not one redeeming quality in it; save the fact that it ended :) I only watched it once, and that was over a year ago. Some things that I liked about the film: The strong desire and determination that Nicholas Cage's character had to (re)connect with his family The overarching theme of identity and security (finding one's place in the world, balancing work and family, etc.) I really liked Michael Caine in this film The cinematography, especially at the archery range The archery sub-plot in itself was very well done, I thought The comedic parts in the film (the food-throwing, for example) That's just off the top of my head. I'll have to watch it again son. Now back to my question: quote:

ExpandedUniverse, Well, it has been a while since I saw this movie as well and unfortunately my memory does not seem to be quite as good as yours at rememebering specifics; but I will do my best to remember what I did not like: -crude comments in reference to the daughter -I did not find it humourous at all -I guess I missed the whole archery sub-plot -anti-climactic I guess this movie was just too deep for a gal like me. Sigh.

i think a serious contender would be the Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle flick. my college student cousin wanted us to rent that, and we did, and I was slightly amused at moments. but more amazed by its utter awfulness!!!

ORIGINAL: BlackCapnHarlock Worst movies ever??? [. . .] Magnolia (DF) [. . .] Copland (Good cast, horrible plot) [. . .] Incredible Hulk For the most part I agree with your list (from what I've seen), but I'm curious what you didn't like about Magnolia. Was it the story itself or the questionable content? Copland, while the plot wasn't that great as you said, was well worth watching for Stallone's performance. I was very surprised by him in that film. And as far as The Hulk (Ang Lee's, I would assume) goes, I seem to be in the minority that actually liked it. It's more of a character drama/story than a superhero flick, which it was advertised as, IIRC.

I have never heard of some of the movies listed, like Tideland (?). I disliked Date Movie. I feel the message was horrible. I could make a huge list, but that is one of the worst. Sin City, another. Big Fish. Kill Bill. Well, like I stated, I could name a lot of movies. I am 'hard' on movies.
