The sling I borrowed from my friend was a ring sling, so maybe that's why I had so much trouble with it.

Donna, I couldn't figure out a ring sling till Ellie was about 3 months old. Now I LOVE It. It's the only sling I can nurse in. If you really want to get rid of yours, I would love to have it. I'm borrowing a beautiful silk ring sling from a friend right now, but I have to give it back in a couple of months. I'm grateful I got to use it, but I'm kind of disappointed I have to give it back.
Angie, I wouldn't recommend the Ultimate Baby Wrap. It's just a copy of the Moby wrap, which most people like much better. Go with the Moby; you'll love it!

THIS is the carrier I have and I love it. It has pockets on one end for holding my cell, debit card, etc.
I have never tried any other type of carrier, but I think I could easily become a sling addict too!!! Haha... we should start a club!

I'll take a ring sling as well, I love them. Do the wraps make you sweat? I get so hot just holding a baby that I cant imagine having all that extra fabric wrapped around me.

my moby doesn't make me sweat any more then just normal texas heat makes me sweat. Paul says not really too. My mom says it did a little, but it was worth it to not have to carry the weight of the baby in her arms.

from those pictures it looks identical to the moby wrap...can't tell how it would be different, but all those ways are ways you can use the moby and best I can see it is tied similar too.

What kind of carrier would you ladies recommend for an older baby - DD is 16 months and big for her age - she's wearing 24mths/2T clothes. When she was a newborn, I used a bjorn type of carrier and didn't like the stress it put on my back - she's grown out of that now as she's over 25 pounds. I was thinking of something like a Moby wrap for trips to the grocery store, times when she wants to be "on me" and my arms hurt, etc, but didn't know how that worked when they are bigger?? Before I invest the money in buying one or the time in sewing one, I'd love some tips from moms who use carriers/wraps/slings!! Thoughts???

I have used the moby for our toddler (she turned 2yo in december and is currently around 25-30 lbs). It works great if you put them on your back or side (hip). I mostly use the hip and the moby helps hold the weight more evenly and not hurt my back. Other then that though the only other thing I would recommend for sure with a larger baby is a hiking style backpack...that my hubby loves because of the weight distribution.

Ok, experts, weigh in on this: I need a hip carrier. Reagan is picky, and so am I. I hate wraps. Here is what I'm considering.
Ellaroo I like the 4th picture. That's how I'd wear it.
Hip Hammock I'm leaning toward this one. Looks easy.
Ergo Like this one, but don't like the disclaimer about throwing your body out of alignment.

i personally like the first one...ellaroo...it looks the most comfortable and the person seems to be able to stand straighter while using it then in the other pictures.

Prudent, I'd go with the ellaroo. I don't like the hip position with the Ergo; it's awkward to me. I wouldn't get the hip hammock because it's not versatile. A ring sling is great for the hip position. That's how I wear Ellie most of the time now.

That's what we're thinking. I'm glad though because after her pneumonia in January, she looked really sickly. She's all pudgy again...even more than she was before she was sick, and she's got color back in her face.

Ok something funny is happening with my eyes, every time I glanced away from the ergo picture, it looked like the ladies hand moved! It really freaked me out! Don't pick the freaky one!
I like the first one best too, it looks like there's more ability to adjust in different ways
