txheart -> Abbreviation Legend (1/1/2007 3:36:07 AM)

Hello everyone,
I have been spending a lot of time on these forums lately. There are many ideas, concepts, theologies, etc. that I don't know the meaning of. Most times, this is okay because I can look it up and find out the basic meaning of the term used.
However, abbreviations are used quite a bit. Abbreviations that I can't figure out, even after reading all of the posts on that topic.
I was wondering, would it be possible to get some kind of abbreviation legend going on this site? I think it would be very helpful to people like me if there were somewhere I could go to find out what "CCM" meant, because it's obviously important to this debate! lol
Thanks in advance for whatever ya'll might say.
txheart

_Cinderella_ -> RE: Abbreviation Legend (1/1/2007 4:42:45 AM)

PrudentWife -> RE: Abbreviation Legend (1/2/2007 7:41:33 AM)

DH: Dear Husband
DW: Dear Wife
DS: Dear Son, or Dear Sister (depends on context!)
DD: Dear Daughter
FWIW: For what it's worth
BTDT: Been there, done that

This thread is a good idea, newbies frequently get confused with all of our abbreviations!

txheart -> RE: Abbreviation Legend (1/14/2007 1:16:52 AM)

Oh my, I've found quite a few in this thread that I'm not understanding!
When preceded by parenthesis, I am quoting the sentence that the abbreviations occur within so that the meaning would be clear to one who knows these abbreviations.

(but you say Jesus is speaking to non-believers in the) OD

GT = Great Tribulation?

(who was Jesus telling to "flee to the mountains" when they saw) the A of D = Abomination of Desolation?

SC = Second Coming?

OP = Original Poster

(the OP was to) ID

AC = Antichrist

DOL = Day of the Lord

(before the falling away and the revealing of the) MOS

NC = New Covenant?

This is a good start anyway. Thanks to everyone who throws some more help to us newbies! =)

Txheart

[edited to add more abbreviations]

txheart -> RE: Abbreviation Legend (1/18/2007 7:19:05 AM)

Uhm... anyone? [:)]
I figured out most of them, but there are still a few left on the list if anyone wants to take a crack at them.

Ya'll have a wonderful Thursday!
Txheart

edited to add: I'm mostly trying to figure out the abbreviations that refer to something biblical or theological. Such as HS (Holy Spirit), DoL (Day of the Lord), SC (Second Coming), etc. The other ones, though used here, are also used on many other forums (DH, DS, DD, DW, etc.) and, if you have much experience online, have probably come across these and figured them out.
I'm talking about the abbreviations that, for the most part, are only going to be found here, or on a forum like this one. Abbreviations that, unless the people here can tell me what they mean, I'll never find out, because no one else uses them.
See what I mean? [8|]

peculiar_lady -> RE: Abbreviation Legend (1/18/2007 7:47:53 AM)

there are a few that are used in the women's folder but I am not sure those are what people want to put here. at one point we had a folder there of the terms used over there though.

another i haven't seen on the list yet is...

what does POS/TOS mean?

TOS means Terms Of Service. The terms by which you agree to abide when you sign up with a site like this. TOS violation means that one or more of the things in the TOS list was ignored by a poster.
HERE is a link to the TOS of this site

What's a troll?

a troll is someone that comes onto a forums site and posts things not related to the discussion form (like advertisements) and then leaves. Sometimes trolls also post multiples of the same thing.

A mod needs to pin it to the top.
