Hello there! Welcome to the top of the world! (or more humbly, the top of page 10 of my blog here.) How was your day today? Mine well pretty well. It started off sad as I said goodbye to my relative and her three young children as they left to go home. I'm sure going to miss them, especially holding the four month old, but at least I can get back to my normal routine again, just as they have to get back to theirs. I'm back on my eating plan today and doing pretty well. I also got some exercise today, walking from my car to a medical building and also to a store and back. I started my Christmas shopping today, finding something special for a relative, which I won't mention here, in case she happens to find this blog entry. I spent time in God's Word this morning. According to God, "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." I also learned that my sufficientcy comes from God Who provides for my needs. This is very important as I survive the stress of this holiday season and be able to be a witness for Jesus no matter how bad I feel. I pray for all of us, including myself, to focus on Him and remember Who we're serving as we buy gifts and receive them. I'm planning to post here tonight, do some laundry, then go to bed and read God's Word. Have a good evening and a wonderful day tomorrow!

Good morning, fellow posters! How are you today? I'm doing fine. Today is a new day, full of new beginnings and fresh promises. I'm feeling somewhat down though, because my car is acting up, I'm not feeling too well physically and I ate too many carbs last night. But like I said, today is a new day, so I plan to eat better and maybe get some exercise as well. I haven't done devotions yet, but I did apply to Fritz to become a Bookmark Volunteer. If you have at least 12 public bookmarks, you can apply to join the Bookmark Volunteer group and Fritz will let you know if you've met the qualifications or not. I understand that the bookmarks need to be informative, funny or otherwise promote this site in some way. More information can be found under Site Updates in the Feedback and Information Folder. I'll have to do housework soon, so I'll leave you with this thought: "Every moment of each day is a brand new beginning." This helps me remember that when I slip up, I can start each day anew. Have a good day everyone!

Hi everyone. I'm posting today with a heavy heart as I watch the continuing news coverage of the horrible mall shooting in Omaha, Nebraska. As of this posting, nine people are dead and five are injured, one critically. One of the dead is the shooter, from a self inflicted gunshot wound. I'm feeling very upset right now, as this is the Christmas shopping season and I'm not too comfortable with the idea of going to any store with things like this going on. Here is the link I'm not able to think of other things to write right now, so I'll end this here. Please pray for those involved in this tragedy, witnesses, police, families, etc as they deal with this situation. EDITED to add link

Hello again. I'm not in a very good mood right now, due to feeling upset over the continuing coverage of the shooting at the mall in Omaha, Nebraska, yesterday. What freaks me out is that this type of thing could happen anywhere you go nowadays, this world is just not as safe as it used to be. I'm praying for peace and comfort for the victims, their families and other's affected by this tragic event. I read God's Word this morning, but right now I can't remember what it said, my mind being elsewhere. I also played two "grieving" songs this morning. One of them was "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Michael Crawford, which was played at a relative's funeral. I also listened to "Only Time" by Enya, which was played at the funeral of a TV character. These songs help me to grieve, even though no one I know was a victim in the mall attack. This is all I can think of today. Remember to fly your flags at half staff in honor of the victims today through Sunday and pray for those involved in this terrible event. Have a nice day, everyone!

Hi, everyone, how are you all this wonderful morning? I'm feeling better today. The last few days I've been in a sour mood due to the reports of the mall shooting in Omaha, Nebraska. It's been a rough couple of days for me, wondering if I would ever feel safe going anywhere again. I've decided that I would not let some suicidal person keep me from enjoying the Christmas holidays and shopping. As I continue praying for the people involved in this latest tragedy, I'm reminded and comforted by Jesus' promise to those who follow Him in John 8:51 NKJV, in which He says, "Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word, he shall never see death." Of course, as most of you know, nine people died in that horrible incident, including the gunman, but I believe that what Jesus is saying here is that those who have believed in Him before they died will not die again in the eternal lake of fire, but will live forever with Him in eternal bliss and glory. I pray that those affected by this tragedy will seriously consider their beliefs about Christ and if they haven't made a decision for Him, I pray that they will make that decision for Him so that they can find peace, even as they mourn the loss of their loved ones, coworkers and friends. As I conclude today, I give you yet another thought: Let's not let fear overtake us and ruin our enjoyment of this holiday season. Rather, let's overcome fear with action by trusting in God no matter what happens in our lives. Have a beautiful day and many wonderful tomorrows!

Hello there, how are you tonight? I'm doing fine. Right now I'm being tempted to eat lots of carbs, but after watching a motivating episode of Biggest Loser, I think I'll pass on them and have some salad instead. I did some exercise, shoveling snow and scraping ice off my car, which I hate to do, but it has to be done if I want to drive anywhere. I've developed my Christmas card list and plan to work on them tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to stay home and do housework that I'd planned for today and continue working on Christmas cards. Because I need to get things done, I'll log off now and wish you all a good night! Remember Romans 8:28 and encourage everyone with God's word.

Good evening, everyone! I hope it's been a good day for you. My day has been pretty good, except for my overeating. I've been eating lots of carbs today and can't seem to stop. I'm so mad at myself! My goal is to maintain my weight loss during the holiday season so that I can fit into the new clothes that I'll probably get for Christmas. I'm dealing with certain family issues right now, the nature of which I cannot mention in these forums. I'm praying for God to help me get through this time in my life as I adjust to changing family situations and problems. Other than that, everything is going okay. I'm almost done with Christmas shopping and almost have my Christmas cards ready for mailing. All I need to do is verify some addresses and then I'll be ready to go to the post office. I'm hoping that the weather will be decent next week, as I want to get out and get things done before Christmas. Speaking of getting things done, tomorrow my Mom and I have to start mixing and baking Christmas cookies and housecleaning. I'll also be visiting a friend of mine who is ill, so I'm probably not going to be here very often during the next few days. Well, I'm finishing laundry and listening to Evie sing Christmas music as I post here. I've got music on to drown out that stupid "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" song which has been playing in my mind since this afternoon. I plan to post here a while, then go to bed so that I can get up early tomorrow and get busy. Good night, everybody!

Hi, everyone! I'm just stopping in here briefly to let you know that everything is going okay. We're in the process of mixing and baking 12 kinds of Christmas cookies, a holiday tradition we have. We have a family gathering on Christmas Eve to eat and open presents and enjoy each others company. I've got to go help make cookies now, so have a good evening, everyone!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYBODY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!!! What a great day it is today! I haven't posted here in this blog in over a week, so it's good to be back here and sharing with you all how great it is to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Who came into this world to give us light in our hearts and died for us so that we may inherit eternal life. As we gather with our families and friends, open presents and eat good foods, let us remember the Greatest Gift of God's grace to us all! Melissa

Hello there! How is everyone tonight? I'm doing fine. Right now I'm listening to either KLOVE or my local Christian station while posting here. I'm being encouraged by the devotional that I've read in Fritz's blog "On the Fritz". I'm still losing weight and trying not to eat too much. I'm exercising more and learning new ways to handle stress. Today, I read in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 about how to be a giver. It says: (8) "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (9) So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver." (NKJV) I believe that God isn't just talking about money here. I believe that He might be referring to how I use my talents and abilities in my work for His kingdom. If I don't use my talents and abilities to my full potential that God has laid out for me, then He might not reward me as much as someone who has given Him much more. I want to do what He equips me to do, even if I don't always feel like it. I believe that He will bless me when I trust in Him to give Him my talents and abilities to work for His glory. I'm going to post a little while, then go to bed and get up early, so I can start my day with God like I want and I know that He wants me to. Good night and may God bless you all! Melissa

Hi, everyone! How are you tonight? I'm doing fine. I started out my day with personal devotions, feeding the cats, doing my normal routines and eating oatmeal. I didn't get much done today, but I DID go to church tonight, a place I haven't been in a long time. My 2008 goals include going to church at least 1-2 times a month. I sure miss church when I don't go. I'm doing better with my diet, except for the four pieces of homemade fudge and nut candy I ate tonight. It tasted so good with a cup of coffee, I relished every bite. I'm hoping to do better tomorrow so that I don't gain any weight in 2008. Which brings me to my weight loss update. As of today, I've lost a total of 84 lbs since December 10, 2005. I lost 61 1/2 lbs from 2005 to 2006 and 23 1/2 lbs in 2007. My weight loss goals for 2008 is to lose at least 25 lbs, or about 2 lbs a month. I also plan to continue my floor exercises and go to the Y more often. I'm planning to post here a while if it's God's will, so I'll end this here. The Raiders/Giants game is on and I hope the Raiders win. Have a good night and a wonderful day tomorrow! God bless you all, Melissa

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY! How are you doing today? I'm doing fine. I'm starting off the new year with a new attitude toward my weight loss, new eating habits, new clothes and a new season of "Biggest Loser, Couples" on TV! I'm hoping that despite my relative's deteriorating health condition, that this year will be a good one. My new attitude is that I CAN make better choices in my diet, I CAN lose weight, I CAN exercise and go to the Y if I want to lose weight bad enough. I jsut need to follow through on what I've started out to do and that is to lose 150 lbs by December 31, 2009. I need to keep my thoughts and take actions that are in line with me accomplishing my goal. "I CAN do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." I'm working on changing my eating habits by eating only the fillings in sugar free pies and substituting fruit and light yogurt for sweets. I need to stop eating so much sugar free and regular candy and cookies, as these foods have contributed to a slow weight loss in 2007. For Christmas this year, I received some NEW clothes! I even had to return one item because it was TOO BIG and received a better outfit in place of it. It feels great to be able to fit into smaller clothes this year. I hope to repeat this experience with greater results next year. Finally, I started watching the new season of the Biggest Loser series. It is very motivating for me to watch the contestants work out and lose weight. I really wish that I could be on there, but I know that they would not accept me due to my foot problems, since I can't run or jump. There were two things that inspirrd me last night. One was of the surgeon at a hospital putting a plastic heart into a vat of yellow fat and moving his hands in the fat, then lift the fat soaked heart out. This was to demonstrate how it feels to operate on an obese person. Another thing I learned is that drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water will increase my metabolism. These hints will help me as I continue to work on my weight loss. I can hardly wait for next week's episode! I'm posting here a while, then helping make dinner and work on some paperwork. Have a good evening, everyone!

Hello, everyone, how are you all doing tonight? I'm not doing too well. I've been having pain most of the day and I feel crummy, so I might not be here long. I'm asking for prayer that it is not serious as it might be just the wall muscles that are bothering me. I've had that problem before and had all the tests, so I know it's not my heart. I don't want to go to the ER, as the pain is the only sympton I'm having at this time. I had some anxiety today as I looked for a missing important document. I finally looked into God's Word which I'd read this morning. Psalm 56 said that I can trust in God and not be afraid, no matter what man may do to me. I prayed for help in finding the item and finally located it, much to my relief! God's Word also reminded me that all my vows to Him were binding on me. I remember calling a certain ministry during their telethon and pledging lots of money that I didn't have because I believed in their teachings that God would provide this money. Well, God didn't provide the money, so I was unable to fulfill those vows to Him and to them. I've asked God for forgiveness and I believe that He has forgiven me, despite the devil's condemnation to the contrary. The ministry leader said that if God didn't give you the money, you don't have to pay it. Since then, I've learned not to pledge money unless I had the means to give it. I'm posting here a while, then going to bed and read God's Word. Have a good evening and a brighter day tomorrow!

Good evening, folks! I'm coming on here for a short time because it's getting late and I have to go to bed so I can get up at 6 am and spend time with God, get ready for the day and do my exercises before going anywhere. I'm trying to get back into a regular sleep pattern and I need to stop staying up all night on the computer. I also need to spend more time with God and early mornings are the best times for me to commune with Him. I was watching my TV show, "Biggest Loser", which prompted me to do my exercises that I hadn't done yet today. I'm also doing better food wise, with eating less than 100 carb grams so far today. Being on the computer posting here is one of my triggers, so I need to limit my time so I can avoid mindless snacking on high carb foods. I just heard that Hellary and McCain won the New Hampshire primary. How sad. I'm praying that a Christian candidate who reflects and honors Godly values such as pro-life and one man/one woman marriages, will be elected. The USA was founded on Christian principles. With the activist judges and legislators watering down the Constitution, it's no wonder that we have lost respect in the world. I'm concerned about the future of the USA if those support the murder of unborn children and allowing gays and athiests to take away the rights of the majority of Americans are elected. Well, this is all I have to say for tonight. I urge you to pray for our country and for Christian leaders to be elected so the USA can go back to being a Christian country. I wish you all a good evening and a brighter day tomorrow!

Hello, my brothers and sisters in Christ! How are you all doing today? I'm doing pretty well. After a depressing day yesterday, I woke up bright eyed, bushy-tailed and ready to go to the 8 am church service! The sermon topic was on Jesus being behind the doors of our past, present and future. I need to leave my past sins behind, focus on the present and look forward to a future of eternity with Christ in heaven. I'm glad that God woke me up to go to church, because I really wanted to sleep in this morning. I'm going to do housework today, including cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming and laundry, so I've got to get busy now. I pray that all of you will have a wonderful Sonshine day and may His light shine upon you!

Hi everyone! I'm having a nice day, with the sun shining and laundry going, so I'm on the right track. I didn't get done with all that I wanted to do yesterday, so I have to do it today. I'm doing laundry, cleaning bathrooms , dusting and possibly vacuuming if I'm up to it. Tonight I'm planning to watch my new Gaither DVD and go to bed at a reasonable time so that I can get up early tomorrow morning and start the day spending time with God. I've got to quit reading until 2 am and get some sleep in order to accomplish this goal. I also need to watch my diet, as I've been eating too many calories the last few days. Thursday last week, I started counting calories and found that I ate over 3000 of them that day! No wonder I'm having trouble losing weight! I'm trying to cut back my portion sizes and limiting sweets and carbs, but it's a battle of the flesh that I need to overcome if I'm going to suceed in losing weight. I've got to go and check my email, then get busy, so have a good day and a wonderful evening. God bless you, everyone!

Good evening, everyone! It's a cold night here, with temperatures expected to go below zero and snow on the ground. Burrrr! I'm keeping warm in my cozy house with my long haired cat Smokey, who's meowing for attention right now. He's such a lovable ball of fur, he's better than any therapist for comfort and empathy. I started attending a Bible study at church using the book, Total Heart Health For Women. I'm learning many things about how to take better care of my physical and spiritual heart. One thing I learned was the SELF prayer method, which is Surrendering myself to God, Emptying myself by confessing my sins, Lifting up praise to Him and asking to be Filled with the Holy Spirit. According to the book, I need to start each day with God on my knees, which is hard for me to do with the foot problems I've had, so I have to settle for sitting in a chair at a table. When I get up at 6 am, it gives me more time to spend with God before I start my day, so I need to go to bed earlier at night so I can keep my appointment with Him. I'll post here a short time, then go to bed. Goodnight, everyone and have a wonderful day tomorrow!

Hello there, everyone! How was your day today? I was doing fine until mid-afternoon, when my energy level dropped and I had to force myself to finish sorting through the stuff on my bed so I can sleep in it tonight. I'm doing somewhat well with my eating habits, but I'm still eating too many carbs and calories, resulting in a one pound weight gain this week. I just started counting calories, so I'm learning to eat smaller portions and not take seconds. I just need to do this consistently in order to succeed in losing weight. I need to exercise more also. I learned some more things about taking care of my spiritual heart from the book "Total Heart Health for Women" by Ed & Jo Beth Young, Michael Duncan, M.D. and Richard Leachman, M.D. I learned that I need to study God's Word, go to church and pray, I also need to exercise my faith in service to my home, church, community and the world by supporting missionaries and praying for them. I'm thinking of developing a list of ways that I can exercise my spiritual heart so I can serve God better and remain healthy. I highly encourage you to think about what I've written here today and meditate on God's Word. I'm going to be helping prepare dinner soon, so I'll log off here for a while and maybe come back on here later. Tomorrow if the weather permits and if it's God's will, I plan to go to church and a meeting afterwards. I'll have to do housework and laundry when I get home, so I'm going to have a busy day. I wish you all a very good evening and a wonderful day tomorrow!

Hi, everyone! It's a great day to be watching the NFL football championships and finding out who's going to the Superbowl next month. I'm hoping the Patriots and the Packers win because I think those are great teams. The Patriots sound like a good team and the Packer's are my favorite because one of my favorite actors, Alan Autry, used to play for them. I'm doing fair today. I slept in and didn't make it to church or a meeting afterwards. I feeling like resting and taking it easy, so I think that I'll read a book, watch football and exercise to music. I have some housework to do, which I don't want to do, but I will anyway, because it needs to be done so I'll log off here shortly and do that. I was encouraged by a devotional about walking in peace and not letting life's little irritations develop into big problems and ruin your day. I need to follow this advice and let the Holy Spirit give me peace during these frustrating times. I encouraged all of you to ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit so you can experience His peace in your hearts today. I'm going to log off now and do what I need to do, so have a wonderful Sonshine day and may God's light shine upon you!

Hello, everyone. I hope you're all having a good day. I'm having a bad one, but I do feel a little better. Last night, I heard some bad news about someone, but today, I found out that he's doing better, so I'm glad, as I was really worried about him. I'm eating too much food today and it might show on the scale tomorrow. I'm hoping for a weight loss, but I need to do some exercise if I want to lose any weight this week. This is all I'm going to post today. I hope that you all will have a good evening and a wonderful day tomorrow.

Hi, everyone! How are you doing today? I'm doing well. I fed Smokey, ate breakfast, spent time with God and then got ready to go out for the day. I'm feeling pretty good about myself and I believe that with God's help, I can overcome the daily temptations to overeat on carbs and sweets that I've been doing lately, resulting in a four pound weight gain this past week. I did some walking in the crisp fresh air and sunshine. Tomorrow is going to be a cold day, with temperatures below the 20's. I tried to reschedule an appointment for tomorrow to today, but no such luck. I'll just have to brave the cold and wear my freshly washed winter coat again. Today in God's Word, I learned that "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20 NKJV. I'm learning to crucify my flesh by resisting my natural impulses to overeat and to lie around and do nothing. I need to review this verse everyday whenever I'm tempted to do these things so that I can achieve my healthy living goals. I'll be posting here a while, then doing housework, so have a good day, everyone!
