Hello everyone! I grabbed a minute from somewhere... so I could relax my mind...and body. Our water heater has cracked (something I'm surprised I haven't done yet ); and I've been busy pulling water out of the carpet with the shampooer. I'm exhausted! We can't go get another one, until Saturday morning. That's putting a damper on my cooking plans for Easter Sunday. I was gonna fix all the 'time consuming' dishes, Saturday night. Maybe, I'll still be able to. I sure hope so.

Hope all is going well with everybody. Guess it's kinda quiet in here due to the up-coming holiday. I'm assuming everyone has plans? Speaking of plans...do any of you attend Sunrise service on Easter morning? I've not been in years and I miss it. That's a wonderful memory I have of my family as a child. Dad always loved the Easter Sunrise service! And then we'd drive the Sunday School children to the picnic area near the lake, to hide their eggs; after the Worship service. Ah...beautiful memories I'll always cherish!

btw: Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts concerning mom.

That sounds like a beautiful memory, Zondie . . . and it's good to see you again, btw! I sure hope you get a new water heater in time to fix your holiday meal. What a pain to have happen on a holiday! How is your mom doing?

I have many beautiful memories of Easter growing up, too. Melissa & her family will be here for Easter, as they are every year. It's a very long story, and I'm too tired to go into it now, but I didn't even attend service last year. Just suffice it to say that it gets very tiring being the only adult in the family that really wants to attend church. Melissa goes now, and takes the girls, but when she comes out here she prefers not to.

I'm not sure what we'll do this year. It's hard with it being so early, and the weather being so cold -- and rainy! I do think we will barbeque rather than do a ham. I will try to fix some potato salad Saturday to go with the barbeque, then do baked beans, etc.

I have been cutting and staining the baseboard for the living room, trying to get it on before we get that furniture in tomorrow. I'd bought some of the cheap stuff at the local lumberyard the other day, but when I started measuring it yesterday, I discovered that it is not thick enough to cover the gaps they left between the flooring and the wall. So I met Bill at Lowe's last night and we wound up buying oak trim that will have to be stained. Then we bought an electric miter/chop saw -- now THAT has saved me a world of work today!

I thought I was going to have cut all those boards with a hand saw and I was NOT looking forward to it at all. Besides the fact that my arms would have given out with just 2-3 boards, and required resting them before going on, the cuts with the old handsaw and miter board are never very straight, and we usually wind up wasting a few boards. These oak boards are not cheap, so I really don't want to waste any.

All the boards are cut & stained, and I'll be putting them on the wall after a bit -- I think . .. am really tired, but this must be done before the furniture gets here tomorrow, and somehow I don't think dear Garrett would allow me to put them up in the morning. He is just all over me all the time.

Right now, all the furniture, which is a good amount, is scooted to the middle of the floor so I could get to the edges to measure. I have a real mess, and as I said, I'm real tired, but I guess I'll get ti back in shape before going to bed. That's my plan anyway. Tomorrow, I have a suit to hem and press for a customer . . . last minute orders pay well, so I agreed to it cuz it will just about pay for the saw we just bought

Zondie, both you and Leah are having to work so hard right now! Just reading about it wearies me.

I haven't posted because I've been ill. It started with a migraine that went into vomiting and lasted about 2 days. None of my prescribed meds helped a bit . I'm doing better now, but have no food plans for Easter. I had better get a move on that!

I do think Peter Cottontail will pass by on Sunday. He might even leave something for my husband as well as the two teens here.

When I was healthier and could drive, I never missed the Easter Service. Now I watch it on tv a week delayed. At least it's my same church on tv! And I get to watch in my pj's

{{{{{{{PENGIE}}}}}}}} . . I'm so sorry you've been ill. I hope you continue to feel better thru the holiday.

Last year was the first Easter service I'd missed since I started to church 30 years ago. It's become a real trial to get there the last few years. Leaving the whole family behind to go to church services is just not a fun thing to do.

I got all the baseboard up except one piece -- think I grabbed the wrong piece when I went to stain them. So I need to do that tonight or tomorrow. But it is behind the door, and I wont' need to move any furniture to put it up, so that will be okay. Then I swept & mopped the floor and crashed --- I was so tired!

Well, Garrett is here, I am hungry, and I still have a few things to do before the furniture guys get here.

Near it, but not in it. The Meramec River, which is causing a lot of the problems between here and St Louis, runs between here and the nearest town -- only about 6 miles away. My nephew who has a private campground on the upper Meramec got flooded -- all the way up in the field by his house . . which is about 1/4 mile from the river -- uphill. I don't think the water has gotten in their home, but around it, from what I hear.

I just got my new furniture, made one adjustment in the way I had planned to arrange it, and it's looking great! And the chaise is sitting right by my bay window-- just what I'd hoped for! It's really lovely

Leah! I'm so excited for you! As much as I hate remodeling (dealing with the mess), I always love the results! I imagine your living room is absolutely beautiful and worth all the hard work.

GIRL... you've impressed me beyond explanation! You can run an electrical miter-saw? I'd love to get over my fear of the electric carpentry tools so that I could do some wood work by myself! It could be because they're so loud and the sound intimidates me. But I actually think it's because, I can't get it out of my mind, that it only takes one mistake; and a finger could be gone.

My dh lost his little finger in a mining accident a few years back. But I'm so enthused with carpentry and wood crafts that I've finally started using the little band-saw (some). It works like a sewing machine so I'm comfortable with it. You may have just inspired me to move on to something a little larger now. Perhaps a jig-saw? {Stop laughing at me, Leah!} I wish I had someone like you around here to work along side of. Dh has tried to help me get over my fear (this coming from a man with 7 fingers & 2 thumbs!) And one of his fingers has been shaved from a planer, about 1/4 way down too, after the machine was turned off! So be CAREFUL, whatever you do!

BTW: Mom isn't doing much better. I'm still leaning on the Lord for strength and guidance.

Pengie, sorry to hear that you've been so sick again. I'm still praying for you, Sweetie. I hope you'll feel better during this Easter holiday. You mentioned, 'Peter Cottontail'. Yeah, he's made a little visit here already too! There is candy and treats for my dh, ds, and dil. That's the way it works around here until God blesses me to have a grand-baby. But then the special attention will be diverted toward it, ha-ha! I can't wait to dye eggs and hide them for it...ah, maybe someday; huh? God's will be done in this area of my life also! He knows if and when it's the right time for this request to be fulfilled!

Leah, I meant to ask about the floods. I'm glad you were spared. We were, too, but yesterday on the way to the mall, we passed flooded fields and trees standing in water. Some roads were closed . It did flood a few houses not too from us. iT was rain on top of the 15 inches of melted snow that did it.

Hi Zondie & Marsha!

Marsha, I'd seen there was a lot of snow up that way. Have you gotten any of the latest snow? It hit Chicago pretty hard, I heard.

Zondie, my husband still gets nervous when I use his tools, thinking he has to give me all these 'safety instructions'. The thing is, I was using his tools long before he knew it, and I've used them much more often than he knows. He doesn't have just a whole lot . . . a skilsaw, table saw, drill press (that un's cool!), jigsaw, drills, rechargeble drills/screwdrivers (he bought me my own a few years ago) . . . nothing is new or fancy, and it all is easy to use. I have to admit that I do get a little nervous with some of it at times -- especially the table saw. For some reason -- maybe cuz it's so big, it intimidates me.

A long time ago, I learned the fastest way to get a job done around the house that involved tools, was to start it myself when Bill was home. He was so afraid Iwas gonna hurt myself -- or maybe he was afraid I'd damage his tools! . . . either way, he'd take over and get the job done. It worked real well . . . but as time went on, I learned that I could do many of the jobs myself, and not put so much burden on him to fix all the things that go wrong in a house, so would choose to do them while he was at work. In that way, I got pretty comfortable with his power tools.

He is impressed with the baseboard, and is telling everyone he's not touching the new miter saw cuz I'm so good with it

That's awesome you're such a "handywoman" Leah. My hubby is pretty good at doing most jobs, but scares me to death when it comes to power saws. He is just a bit too careless . I'm always ready to call 911 whenever he gets one out.

Your new furniture sounds lovely, too. What with the chaise in the bay window and all. How romantic.

I am feeling better tonight, thank God. Thanks for all your prayers.
Please know that I pray for all of you, too.

Pengie, I'm so glad to hear you're doing better . . . hope you've been able to sleep.

Bill was trying out my chaise when I was ready for bed, so I took the sofa. Then joined him in bed about 12:30. Now my back is killing me, and he's come back to the living room and is snoring loudly in the recliner. I hate to wake him, but really need some more sleep. Both his snores and the TV are too loud for that

Good Morning all.

I'm busy eating the chocolate bunny my hubby gave me for Easter -yum!
Goes great with a glass of milk. His ears were the first to go, of course.
I am trying to work on a Bible study by Liz Cutis Higgs called Bad Girls of the Bible. I plan to work at my own pace and include a piece of chocolate with each study. Hey, a girl has to get motivated somehow!

Hope everyone had a blessed Easter. We had a quiet one. The Easter bunny brought treats for everyone and my daughter and I are both starting new Bible studies this morning. She is doing Girls of Grace on dvd.

Since we've been homeschooling, my daughter is happier and healther. It was the right choice to be sure! She was under far too much pressure at public school. Thanks to all those who helped counsel us.

My Maltese, Little Bit, had a second seizure last night. So I called the vet this morning and he will come by tomorrow to start running tests on her. I'm afraid that this could be the begining of the end for my sweet little dog. She has been so faithful to me, I won't allow her to suffer. Watching her go thru a seizure is horrible. I am helpless to do anything for her. She is so weak and confused afterwards. She still seems weakened this morning.

I hope everyone has a happy day. God bless.

{{{{{{{{{{{PENGIE}}}}}}}}}}}}} . . . I'm sorry Little Bit isn't doing so well. I feel the same way about my animals, tho . . to watch them suffer just so you can avoid the pain of losing them is just too cruel. I hope the vet can give you some hope, tho.

It is great that your daughter is doing so well. Sounds like she is into a good Bible Study, too. The candy is a great motivator! -- keep me updated on that study.

Is it drying out up there yet?

We just lost our family doggie 'Chiquita' last friday. I'm still sad about it. I keep expecting to hear her little bark. I'll be praying for you.

BeckeyZ, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. You really grow attached to them, don't you? Somehow, I just can't imagine heaven without our faithful friends. I know most would think that is silly - but that is just the way I feel. I pray that God comforts you and your family.

Leah, I'm glad you're safe from the flooding. Been in a few floods in my time when I lived in New Zealand, and I sure don't miss them.

(((((((((((((((((((((PENGIE))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

On Sunday night, we have a programme on TV called Animal Rescue. One of the stories was about a lady who had to give her 1 year old black labrador puppy away as she has bone cancer in her spine. I thought of you and the heartbreaking decision that you made with Oreo, Pengie. The dog was so full of life and would just throw himself at her, and she was so sick that she needed complete bed rest. She couldn't play with him etc. She kept in contact with his new owners whilst he was in transition of moving into his new home and two weeks later went to see him to see how he was settling in. It was so sad, but I know that people have to do that sometimes. I hope you can keep Oreo for as long as possible. I hope that everything works out really well with Little Bit too.

Hi there, Pengie & Beckey! I too am sorry about your dog, Beckey. Yes, we really do get attached to them

Garrett has just finished lunch -- not hardly an hour after he ate breakfast, then a snack . . . his appetite has seemingly, finally awakened -- with a ROAR!!! First we can hardly get him to eat, and now he doesn't wanna stop!

He didn't want the biscuits & gravy offered him this morning, but let me know in no uncertain terms that he was hungry about 10:30. So I gave him some Fruity Cheerios. Just a few. Then a few more. And a few more. . . . He must have eaten over a cup of them before he decided he was full.

Then I realized he'd not seen the Easter decorations, so he got to see them and get all excited. Well, of course we had to have a few pieces of candy . . . then I took time to straighten the bedroom and put his playpen up. While I was doing that, he managed to get the cereal box off the counter . . . thankfully I caught him before he dumped it all over the floor. When I'd finished with the playpen, I came into the kitchen & found him with a bag of chips!! . . Now just WHEN did he get tall enough to reach those?????

So, I fixed him a half sandwich of turkey & cheese with some chips. He ate it all, and wanted more chips, but I thought he'd had enough. We finished that off with a piece of Ari's birthday cake from yesterday -- Ari, youngest granddaughter's birthday is today, so we celebrated yesterday with her. He gobbled up that angel food cake topped with cream cheese & strawberry cool whip topping . . I may have to start charging more to cover this voracious appetite!! . . . but I can't tell you how good it is to see him eating like this.

Now we gotta work on the nap time. It seems last week he decided he didn't need to go to sleep until closer to 3:00, taking only an 1½-2 hour nap. I've moved his playpen into my bedroom & set it up so I can sew in the spare bedroom while he's sleeping, and because we have an air machine in there that tends to drown out any household noises that might wake him up.

Ok, he's finally asleep after over an hour of mumbling, grumbling, playing & shaking his playpen . . . now I'm going to take advantage of it and take a nap myself -- gotta enjoy that chaise as much as possible
