I realized today that Iv'e been using my cup for 3 years. I'm amazed that it's been that long. I too use a liner for my heavy days. It helps to catch it if I don't empty it in time and if it goes in crooked it'll catch it before I have a chance to fix it.

I'm having the time to change cups issue too. I am 31 now and pregnant, so I will have to either move up to the #2 Diva or try another brand. I wasn't sure if I should try another or stick with the Diva. It's done really well for me most of the time. I tend to have heavy periods, and on the first day or two it sometimes leaks. Does anyone have suggestions for which brand to use in my case? Thanks!

The cup with the odor- the peroxide should do it. I mix it half and half, peroxide and water, and soak over night every other cycle. The smell is likely coming from the tiny suction holes. Make sure that you clean these holes when you clean the cup. I fill a flat bottom container with some water then push the cup to the bottom until I see bubbles come out all the holes. I use a ziploc square disposable container, it is clear and convenient for me since I have no sink near the toilet where I do cup maintenance- I fill the little container half with water the rinse the cup when I remove before re-insertion. If the peroxide doesn't work try soaking in Vinegar... Oh and make sure that whatever you soak it in you clean the suction holes as mentioned above a few times during the soak. ~ezri... in year 3 of cup use and LOVING it.

OK - I found this site that has excellent comparisons of all the cups as well as showing the different folds. FYI - this is her personal rating preference (based on ease of use and comfort being the most important factors for her). quote:
1. Mooncup UK- 1st, My Favorite, best fitting because it is shorter. Comfy because of the softer silicone. Opens easily! Mooncup® UK (made in the United Kingdom) - http://www.mooncup.co.uk/ 2. Lunette- 2nd, because I like the larger air holes for ease of opening...easiest to clean because it is smoother. 'pretty' cup 3. Moon Cup by Keeper- 3rd, because I like the softer silicone. 4. Keeper- 4th, because it opens easily... It would have ranked higher, but I don't like the rubber smell. 5. Diva cup Larger size- 5th, because it is more difficult to get to unfurl than the other brands since it is longer. (great packaging... seems to be the most popular cup for others) 6. Diva cup smaller size- 6th, More difficult to get to unfurl than the other brands since it is longer and more difficult to open than the larger Diva. (great packaging....seems to be the most popular cup for others) I do want to let everyone know that ALL of these cups get my recommendation. I am able to use all of them successfully without any leaks or discomfort. (I empty every 6 hours but could easily go 12 with no problems.) My main issue is obviously with getting them to unfurl... (I was able to unfurl all of them, just some cups are easier than others.. FYI - her teenage daughter prefers the Lunette. She doesn't want to try the Mooncup because it has a lower capacity and that's the most important factor for her.

Lily - my guess is, based on the info on the above site, you could try the Lunette as it holds more and is similar to the Diva.

I was going to ask what % hydrogen peroxide to water, so thanks. Usually those little suction holes clear up when I boil it, but they didn't seem to this time. I've tried forcing water through it in a bowl and have never gotten it to work. I"m about at 3 years of use too. At this point I mostly use it on heavier days and use just cloth pads on lighter days. The cup does weird things to me sometimes.

I am on a yahoo group RE: menstrual cups (moonkeeperdivas I think) anyway It was mentioned by one lady that she threads a needle with some white thread and doubles it then runs the needle CAREFULLY through the holes in her diva to "clean" them. I'd be afraid that I'd damage the holes myself BUT it may be an option for you. ~ezri

Thank you, Tammy. I think I had heard that about the Lunette before. I am leaning toward that one. They don't sell that one in the US, do they? I think I can probably still get it from the Lunette website though. I got my Diva on Amazon.

Like when I can't get the lotion out of the pump I use a toothpick to clean it out. I've never actually gotten out my needle, but have thought about it to clean the holes. My holes haven't been getting clean very easy lately. I'm not sure if they are stained and looked plugged, or if they are really plugged. I boil mine about every other cycle ... I forget to do it regularly and want to do it when my housemate isn't around. It's not something I've found other people like to know happens.

Usually when I boil it the holes look clean, but this time they still looked reddish even after the boiling.

So I have had my second cycle using the instead cups. I have to say that I am very pleased with them. The first month I think I only used them for a day because I was having issues with it not sitting right. But, this past time, I think I got it figured out. They are so much nicer than tampons. I wasn't in pain at all when I used them!! They are a good stepping stone for me until I save up enough for the other cup. I am sold!!!

Ok, so glad someone else brought this thread back up, I was about to go searching... I know it was mentioned somewhere in here but I'm not about to read all the pages again. How does anyone get that thing back out without intense pain??? Any ideas? Pleeeeeaaaasssse.

Well, I can but it takes forever and almost to the point of tears. (and I have a high pain tolerance) Are there any "tricks" to taking it out?

Are you squeezing the bottom to break the suction?

Mine within the past couple months has gone super suction on me and hurts to take out too. I've found it helps/breaks the suction faster if I tilt it back towards my tailbone pretty hard while pulling it out.

I PM'd you back, but just in case someone else is having trouble, I would suggest.... continuing to squeeze the bottom while pulling out try a twisting motion try "bearing down"
