June 19, 2008 Busy, Busy I am sure, now that summer is here, that we are all much busier. I know I am, and I apologize for not writing more. (Besides that, my internet is acting up at home, among other technological issues that are driving me to distraction.....) So, I am writing this entry from a hotel, while on one of the many courier trips I have been on this month. Lately, I have had one per week (5 in a row, so far), and still have a couple more on the books. I am not sure what has made the summer so busy for transplants, but there is a network of blue tote bags and coolers keeping those airport security guards hopping! I have had the opportunity to see a lot of the country, mostly from air or in a taxi, but there are still some awesome sights to see, while whizzing past! God's creation is awesome! Tuesday, June 17, was the One year, 3 month anniversary of Roger's "promotion", and it was a day that hit me kind of hard. I am never sure why those quarter-year, half-year, etc. anniversaries seem more poignant, yet they do. I was thinking of where I was one year ago on that date, which happened to be Father's Day......I was in N. Ireland, having completed filming of the "Whispers in the Night" DVD. Jordan was with me, and Chelsea was in Alaska. We have journeyed a lifetime since then. This past weekend, on Father's Day, we were in Arkansas, having a family cookout, so I got to see my father and my father-in-law, my mom, of course, along with brothers, sister-in-law, neices, nephews, and their families, and the star of the show, my great-neice, who was born 11 days before Roger passed away. It was a fun time. I took a photo with my dad, and it was cute, so I was showing it to Chelsea, and she said, "Sure, rub it in". She meant it in a joking way, and we both smiled, but it made me feel so sad for her and Jordan. It was the first Father's Day we have all been together since Roger died, and that hit me, too. Then, on the 7 hour drive home, I had WAY too much time to think (I tend to do deep thinking when I drive, which may not be the safest thing to do - I even used to write songs as I drove - that's where "He's Been There" materialized), so by the time Tuesday rolled around, I had myself worked into some real blues. Fortunately, though, they haven't lingered unnecessarily, and I have been able to deal with the emotions and keep moving forward. Recently, I have come to the realization that the only way to keep my sanity, is to move forward. Roger and I had so many discussions during all of the time we were together 24/7. What a blessing. His desire was for his family to not stop living, should he go first. So, we are trying, though the "living" is not the same, naturally. We have some new directions, simply because the situation mandates it. But, it is also nice to know that we have his blessing, should we decide to test some unfamiliar waters eventually. There is a huge difference between JOY and HAPPINESS. I hope you know the difference in your own life. Joy comes from God, in knowing the peace that passes all understanding, no matter the situation. Happiness is dependent on circumstances, and comes and goes. I can't say I have been happy in quite some time, but I am grateful beyond any measure that I have a deep abiding joy. I am ready for that spark of happiness to show up again. And, I know, as long as I remain in God's will, I will find it, and rest peacefully In His Grip! Debbie

I agree with you all. Debbie is definitely a strong lady. Her testimony, along with Roger's, testifies that God is real and still working in people's lives. Though it is a heartbreaking situation for Debbie and the kids - as Christians we all have a hopeful future because the Lord is coming back soon!!! And as the song says, "We will be with them far longer than we were without, no doubt, no more tears in our eyes, in that beautiful, wonderful, hello after goodbye!"

ORIGINAL: Jeff_from_Kentucky The guys finally got the bugs worked out on their website and have a bunch of new photo galleries up now! What is even better is that at least two of the pictures on their site from last years Labor Day Celebration was taken by little ol' me! The picture of Debbie Bennett, Scott Fowler, and Frank Seamans was taken by me. For those who have me as a MySpace friend check out my pictures, Southern Gospel photos part 2, first page, row 4, far right picture to see for yourself. The other picture on the website that I took is of my son and Frank Seamans - the same picture as my avatar on here! Needless to say my son was pretty excited to see himself on L5's website! I was pretty excited too! Nobody has ever used any of my pictures before! Good for you, Jeff!!!

I'm so glad to hear this (from the L5 weekly newsletter): There was one bizarre twist to this Hawaii cruise... we actually had to LEAVE SCOTT HOWARD THERE! That's right... Howie went to the emergency room on Kauai Island with severe abdominal pains and ended up having an appendectomy that night. He had to stay there an extra day for recovery then took a shuttle flight back to Honolulu to catch the flight back to the mainland on Sunday. He's doing fine now and he commented, "Things couldn't have gone any smoother... tell everybody thanks for their prayers because the Lord took real good care of me!"

http://legacyfive.com/Galleries/Recent%20photos/Labor%20Day%20Celebration%202007/index.html Tina, this is the link to the L5 Labor Day 2007 photo gallery. Both of the pictures I was talking about are in the second row of photos. Those are the only two of mine that made it onto their site. I thought one of the pictures of Tim was mine but it wasn't, though it was very similar to one that I took.

Hey Guys and Gals, I'm going to see L5 tonight (7/7) in Tyler, TX. They are doing a "Celebrate America" concert with the Green Acres Baptist Church Choir. Green Acres is one of those mega-churches and their choir is something special. I don't know exactly what to expect, but I do expect something great! I'll keep you posted.
