ORIGINAL: Jeff_from_Kentucky The Who Am I thread got me to thinking about something. On the last page of the February Singing News under the Looking Ahead section it reads: "Since this groups beginnings in the 1990s, they've won two Singing News Fan Awards and have had one No. 1 song on the Singing News Top 80 chart. They've also appeared on the cover of Singing News twice. Who are they? You'll find them on the cover once again on next month's Singing News." I think it is L5. They started in the 1990s (1999), won two fan awards as a group (Horizon Group and Favorite Traditional Male Quartet), and have had 1 number one song (I Found Grace). The only thing I am not sure of is how many times they have been on the cover of Singing News. There is also a picture of Scott Fowler on the last page and under the Things To Do section, their 2008 Celebrations are mentioned. It makes sense that it would be Legacy Five on the cover of the March issue since March will mark the one year anniversery of Roger's passing. Anyway, I may be wrong but that is who I think it will be, based on what little I know. I think L5 has been on the cover 3 times( But I am not positive), and I took "Singing news fan awards" as any award for the group, (including individual awards) So I was thinking the Booth Brothers. They have had 1 number one, and have won group of the year and song of the year. Well, It will be interesting to see who it is.

Yes, L5 has been on 3 times. When they started out, then the London cover, then 3rd and last with Roger.

January 30, 2008 New Opportunities 2008 is already almost a month old. Time really flies. I have had the blessing of visiting with several friends this month. It seems like I have to travel to visit with most of my friends. That is one of the "perks" to the lifestyle we lived. We found friends all over the country, and all over the world. I just wish more of them lived closer. It gets lonely at home. Please pray with me as a new opportunity is presenting itself in my life. For years now, I have known that when my kids were older, and things were more settled in my life (?!?), I would love to do volunteer work in some capacity, I just wasn't sure where it would be. As I was visiting with my "family" in Houston recently, I learned of a program that immediately spoke to my heart. To make a long story short, I have an opportunity to possibly become a courier for the National Bone Marrow Donor Program, being one of their volunteers who actually travel to collect the bone marrow/ stem cell donations and bring it quickly back to the recipient. A huge gift of life, and one which means a great deal to me. I will find out more as time goes on, and the program is highly selective, but again, I have been blessed with friends who have put me in contact with the proper people. I am scheduled to attend a training session in March in Minneapolis. I am very excited. I can envision a real fulfillment, in being able to carry a gift of life, and pray for the people involved, whether I ever see them or not. Most of my life has been "behind the scenes", and I am quite comfortable with that! Thank you for all of the kind comments about the article in this month's Singing News Magazine. I was very honored and humbled that they wanted to do an article on me and my family, and I thank Danny Jones, the editor (and family friend!) for being so kind. If you don't subscribe to this magazine, you really should. Contact Legacy Five's office for more information, or go to their website, www.legacyfive.com . Well, I am off to a walk-in clinic. Seems like, after not having time to be sick for over 4 years, that's all I can do lately. I get over one thing, and move to another. This time, I am afraid I may have either bronchitis, or the beginnings of pneumonia. That's a new one for me. Oh well, not complaining, just getting tired of being "down" with something or another. Life goes on, and thankfully, we have the assurance that we move forward, safely In His Grip! Debbie

Please correct me if I am wrong on this but for the Singing News Fan Awards, Horizon Individual can be anyone who has never won an award. Is that correct? If it is, when we all get our March Singing News, we should nominate Tim Parton for Horizon Individual in addition to Favorite Musician, even though he has been around a long time. At least that is what I plan to do.

February 07, 2008 Update This will be just a very quick note to say we are all safe here in our neck of the woods, following the severe weather and tornadoes of a couple of days ago. It was a very long night, but God protected us. Our family in Arkansas is safe, as well. Everyone's health is good right now in our household, too. And, I received word yesterday that I have been accepted as a new courier for the National Bone Marrow Donor Association. I attend training on March 14 in Minneapolis, MN, and I am VERY excited and grateful for this opportunity! I will keep you updated when I know more about the program. Gotta run, there is a cat trying to get in my lap and onto this keyboard. In His Grip! Debbie

I got the Live in Music City dvd today as a free item from the Christian bookstore I go to and watching it now. hearing Roger's testimony brought tears to my eyes. from one song to the last just pure power in the singing. the song My, My, My with Voices of Lee backing them, that is an amazing version. the cd is great, the dvd is phenomonal. I would recommend this dvd to anyone that buys dvd's. if you don't have it yet, buy it next. You will not watch it and not be blessed.

Tina, it's too bad you couldn't make it to the concert tonight. It was a good one. I gave Scott Fowler the posts from the President Fowler thread. See that one for the details.

I just ran across this on You Tube. It was from Red Rocks Homecoming and it is a wonderful rendition of Heros of the Faith featuring Roger Bennett. It was posted on You Tube the day of his physical death, March 17, 2007. The one who posted it said ROGER was one of those Heros. You gotta watch this!!

I first heard that song in early 2000. I loved it instantly (rare for any song). I still love it. I keep thinking of all the Godly men and women that He has placed in my path. I love the song, but I can't watch it without tearing up a tiny bit at least.

Unfortunately, I can't watch youtube at home because I have dial-up internet. Actually I can watch it but it takes forever to load. I love the Tim Lovelace Fourth Man Gaither clip. It's on youtube and it takes about an hour and ten minutes to load it with dial-up.

Have you all ever wondered just how concerned the artists are for the fans? Well, the guys from L5 are definitely concerned. If you recall, I posted last year about the difficulties that my son and I had checking in to the Gaylord Opryland resort for the L5 Labor Day Celebration. It took an excessive amount of time to get into the parking lot and then to get checked in. The problems were the fault of the resort, not L5. On the last day of the Celebration, Frank asked me if we had any problems and I told him about what had happened. He sincerely apologized at the time even though I assured him that it wasn't their fault. This past Friday before the concert, Frank and Scott Fowler asked if we were going to the Memorial Day Celebration. When I said that we were, Frank stated that he hoped we would not run into the same difficulties as last time. And, he and Scott both apologized for the problems last September. Once again, I assured them that the problems were not their fault. I was impressed by several things. First is that they even remembered that we had difficulties. As I have said on other occasions, we're not that significant and the fact that they remember us out of their thousands of fans just continues to amaze me. However, they do remember us and they do care that we have a good time whenever we go to one of their events. That tells me something important about these guys: if they remember and care about us, then they care about all of their fans. That is another reason why I love these guys - they care!

I was a bit late on this this time.... February 14, 2008 A Day for Love Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. This is a hard one for me, my first without a valentine in many, many years. Of course, it never was about the day itself, so it's not really any different from most days. I confess to having had a lot of "down" days recently. I guess it's just the time of year...thinking about all of the last "lasts". It's almost the day marking the last time Roger went into the hospital, and of course, his birthday and one-year anniversary of his death are just around the corner. I think a big part of it, too, is that it feels like once the 1-year mark has passed, it's just too far gone.....do the memories now start to fade? Will I be able to remember them as clearly? Just some panicky feelings in the middle of the night (or day) that leave me feeling confused. I know it probably sounds a little crazy to anyone who hasn't been there, but I am guessing that there are many of you who can relate exactly to what I am trying to put into words. I was blessed to have a great love in my life. Roger treated me like someone very special, and I hope he felt that I treated him that way, too. We weren't perfect, by any means. We had our share of disagreements, but we were lucky to learn what was important in life. We may have had a more abrupt awakening to life's priorities than we would have liked, but we wouldn't have traded the journey and what we learned along the way for anything more comfortable. Even on the days when I don't feel like making an effort, I still can cling to those life lessons. Yesterday was probably an all-time low for me on this, my new journey. Between things going wrong at the house, feeling more lonely than ever, and feeling like I just didn't care about it all anymore, I spent most of the day having a pity-party. In my head, I know that it's normal to have days where grief hits you harder than others. I just don't like them!! I told Chelsea that I just miss talking to Roger. Even if all of the same things were going on, he could always make me feel better about it all, just by talking to me. I miss that companionship. I miss that friendship. I just miss him. Anyway, I know that things will begin to look up again, and that I will find my motivation to continue moving forward. I have two very special gifts in Chelsea and Jordan, and especially on Valentine's Day, I want them to know they are loved. So, go and tell those whom you love how much they mean to you. Appreciate having them in your life. Most importantly, though, remember the ultimate love of our Savior. His unequalled sacrifice keeps us loved, and In His Grip! Debbie

Tina, I asked Frank about the photo galleries at one of the concerts recently. He said he has several of them ready to go but they are having problems with the company host servers. In other words, they won't upload. They are going to switch internet hosting companies soon and when they do Frank said he would get the photos up for us.
