I would like to say that I think that Legacy Five is a great quartet. I heard on the NQC radio and they sounded great.

Simply the BEST!!!!! But, what did you expect me to say? [:D]

You haven't let us down, Brian!![:D] L5 is the BEST!![:)]

HeidiSGF -> RE: What A Legacy! L5 Thread (10/3/2006 3:24:17 PM)

I absolutely LOVE Legacy Five! [:D] They are one of my two favorite quartets on the road right now! I was a huge Cathedrals fan for a couple of years before they retired, so naturally I followed L5 when they hit the road. I have seen them in concert at least five times (which is a lot for me!). Oh, and as far as the tenors are concerned, Frank is my favorite of the tenors they've had. Of course who I'd really like to see singing with Roger and Scott again, is Ernie Haase. [;)] I don't want to break up EHSS, but my ideal Legacy Five lineup would be Roger, Scott Fowler, Ernie, Doug Anderson, and either Glenn Dustin or Tim Duncan for bass. Wow, does that make me looks biased or what? [8D]

You know, that would be my favorite Legacy Five lineup, too![:D]

L5FanLady -> RE: What A Legacy! L5 Thread (10/3/2006 4:09:49 PM)

Hey, as long as Roger is in it, I'm cool with it.[8D]

I would revolt if Glen ever thought about leaving!!! Baritones could be replaced cause they are just filler. But there are those songs that belong to him, like That's What Grace Is For.
Ernie has never been my favorite, but Frank is so smooth and blends well. One of the most sincere people I have met.
I would hate for any changes........

I wouldn't be too happy if Glen left, either, unless Legacy Five replaced him with Randy Byrd. Although Randy has a different sound (more melodius, and not quite as low), I have thought since the first time I heard him that he would be an excellent fit for the group.

I am not familiar with Randy. If Glen HAD to be replaced. I would replace him with Jeff Chapman, or Christian Davis. In my book, singing low doesn't make for a good bass, he also has to be pleasant on a solo. Of course when they go and slide down so low that the hymnals rattle, well that's just icing on the cake! I always loved the Statler Brothers, especially on the old hymns. But I never cared much for Herald on a solo. Except on Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. They are the ONLY one I like singing that one. Otherwise I hate the song. That goes for the Cats doing This Old House, they nail it!! no pun intended!

Randy (who incidentally sings bass for the Blackwood Brothers) can rattle the floor with a low B-flat (or lower, at least on occasion), but a smooth solo is his strong point. He is more of a George Younce-style bass than Glenn Dustin is.

Understand I'm not slamming Dustin in any way; he is an excellent bass singer of a different variety. Very, very few can pump out the lowest F-sharp on the keyboard like he does on the one song on Live in Music City. But that's more of a Tim Riley thing than a George Younce thing.

I hope Dustin stays with L5 for a long, long time. But if he's ever replaced, I would agree that I'd like to see someone who has a very pleasant solo voice.

youngartist -> RE: What A Legacy! L5 Thread (10/4/2006 11:02:48 AM)

I think Christian Davis would be a great fit - IF Glen ever got the notion to join Greater Vision or something. [:D]

One of my very favorite songs is Scott Howard's "Walk With Me," penned by Randy Travis! Scott's got such a rich, low baritone vocal, and I love it. [;)]

L5FanLady -> RE: What A Legacy! L5 Thread (10/6/2006 4:24:41 AM)

I think at some point, they need to do a compilation of all of Roger Bennett's "Personal Songs" whether he wrote them or not, and release it. [:D] I'd buy a copy!![;)][:D]

I emailed him a couple years ago mentioning that. They put out the other song books, why not Bennett works. Gaither would! LOL

Have you seen them do this one in concert? They really clown around on it and Scott Howard is such a hoot!!!

I meant a CD compilation. Actually, an accompying songbook would be a good idea. Roger did that with Midnight Meditations, so why not with his CD of personal songs? I like that idea. Someone else should suggest that to him.

Also, I'd like to see all the posts from the Midnight Meditations site (rogerbennett.typepad.com) put into book form, and released for sale. Seems I remember Roger saying something about doing something like that. Debbie could do it, or at least help to do it. I know I'd want a copy of that, too.[:)]

After seeing the rutine a few times I thought I knew what was going to happen. Well, one night it went out of controll. The guys were in rare form, we laughed so hard our stomachs hurt. The crowd was interacting somewhat too, it just added to the fire. We had the best time that night!

That will work! didn't think about that.
I think Roger was working on a book. I could see a book but just printing posts wouldn't work. You would need to turn it into more of a story, the story of the cancer journey. Besides, I think a book at this point would just be UNFINISHED. He is still on the journey.....
