This probably won't help at all since you already know it but reading the bible every day is easy. You just have to decide to do it, and then do it. I'm trying to read 4 pages a day.

Out of order it is then!
I'm actually working my way through Proverbs right now. I do need to get back and finish Kings. That's where I became overwhelmed ... I started thinking "just how many wives does he have??" and, honestly, I was so offended. (Seriously, though, I was in the midst of my divorce, and it just got a bit much)
Of course, there are even more offensive things in the OT ...

This is true. But to get to the point where you can meditate upon it, you've got to read it.
The neat thing about the Word of God is that it is powerful in itself. Before I was saved M gave me a bible.
"What do I do with this" I thought?
Well it's a book so you read it. Started at page 1. Read until I ran out of pages and got saved along the way. The mere act of reading the bible opened me up to think that I may need the things that the bible talks about. Without the reading there would never have been that change in me. I don't believe anyone can read it without being changed by it.

You were not a christian........your read truth and it appealed to you.......
I know many Christians who take great pride in the fact they read their bible on a daily bases who have very little or no fruit in their lives.
I know even more Christians who read their bible along with doing bible studies who are the same person today as they were last year spiritually.
I am not saying spending time in the bible each day doesn't transform us.....I just don't think reading the words do.......there is a huge difference between reading the bible and studying the bible........
Meditating on the Word simply means taking reading to a deeper level.......past the surface of your mind to your heart........It means taking the verses you read in the morning and mulling over them through out the day.......seeking the Holy Spirit's help in opening your ears and eyes to what God is saying...........
Just curious where in the bible does it say to read the bible? I can you find you many places where it says to meditate day and night on His word but I am not sure I have ever read we are suppose to read it.
Sorry if I am contrary but this is a passion for me.........The bible gives life if we see it as more then a book that we should read every day.

I agreed with almost everything before this paragraph. It is true that you have to apply it as well as read it. But God being who God is, you can't help but be changed if you hang around him liong enough. And one way we hang around him is get his word in us.
2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
To rightly divide it you must know it. The only way to learn it (for me at least) is to read it. Study implies that you must be in the scriptures daily. You must read to study (unless of course we have it memorized, including the original words).
2 Tim 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Note that we are to read all of scripture as it is all good for us.

Agreed. Not only do we have to read but we have to apply it to our lives.
