Hey there Gang!

This folder was created for the purpose of teens being able to discuss issues which are relevant to them. When a teen comes to this folder the majority of discussions they see should be discussions on relevant topics... this should be the majority.

Instead it was mostly game threads, chat threads, RPs, and other misc. topicless threads.

I've taken drastic action to turn this around and will be closing any new ones that are created or old ones that get resurrected.

"But we want to play games!"

Yeah, I know. Fortunately, we have a entire folder devoted to just games.

"But we want to chat with each other!"

Yeah, I know that too. To meet your demands for this I have created the official teen chat thread. Click Here

"But... but... we want games!"

Ok, here's the deal... you may have two games in this folder. Two and only two. (RPs are considered games.)

"How do we determine what games we can have?"

Ah, I'm so glad you asked...

The Xtreme Teen folder will hold its first ever official Xtreme Teen elections. YOU guys will decide on who is the Xtreme President and Xtreme Vice-President.

These representatives will lobby you and will submit a recommendation on the two official game threads for the Xtreme Teens folder.

"Are there any requirements for being considered for the office of Xtreme President/Vice-President?"

Oh yes... this is a prestigious position after all. Click here to see the official rules and regulations for these positions.

"Will those running for office be allowed to create campaign threads?"

Yes

How are you going to feel if this winds up scaring off all the teens?

Here's another one.

What are you going to do if that really happens? Because i am thinking seriously about being one of them! I have emails to most of my friends on here. I can always email them! The only thing stopping me is because of those that i dont have emails to. I could not turn my back on them.

I have experience in managing online community.

Re-organizing the Xtreme Teens folder in order to line up with its purpose will not result in the forum being closed or losing significant traffic.

Why?

Because the activities these users wish to engage in on our Forum are still available in the CORRECT folder.

I'm not saying no one is allowed to do game threads. I'm saying that game threads must be placed in the Games folder.

Two very different things. There may be people who fail to make that jump, but I feel it will be few and far between because the majority of the Xtreme Teens users are intelligent people who can come to intelligent conclusions.

Did you ever consider that we wanted to make games JUST FOR TEENS!!! Perhaps some teens only feel comfortable playing with other teens! I know lord knows i know of MANY MANY teens in real life that they would shy away and even refuse to play because they didn't know people.

I'm saying, the teens here, we trust each other. We welcome warmly any new Teenager. How do you think this is going to affect new commers to the Xtreem Teen forums? To see a bunch of threads locked out, some of which had some personal and importat questios? Ones that teenagers actually were seeking non critizism help for by others who face the same problems?

You taking those away.... to me... that's low. But that's also one persons oppinion, probably shared by many, but still, just mine for right now. As i said in the previous thing, i'll save my breath for now.

1. Yes, I have considered it and I don't think it will be a problem for teens to create a teens only thread in the Games folder for whatever games they wish to play.

2. Once those threads move off of the 1st page it will have little to no impact on new user experience. In fact new users, coming to the Xtreme Teens folder in order to discuss relevant topics will have a more positive first visit experience.

I am not opposed to someone creating a Welcome thread for new teen visitors.

I understand that you have to clean up the forums a little bit. There is really no reason for us to have more than one random thread on here. But I don't think it's fair to take away all except two of the game threads because most teens won't feel comfortable playing those games with adults in the game forum. I also don't think it's fair to take away the Girl Talk thread. That's where we teenage girls go to talk about dating, shopping, cooking, and anything else "girly" we want to talk about. Please rethink some of these changes.

but see when we make a new game thread in the game folder, all we have to say in the title is [TEENS ONLY] and we'll be respected for the most part. Still you have some adults coming in here to post.

It's like we had to do with our music threads!

they made us stop having discussions of music in this folder? somehow I missed that.

this did bring up the question, to me, of why the music folder is allowed to have a game. really, I'm not trying to be ... snarky/troublesome/a dissenter, but the question honestly ocurred to me while I was in that folder earlier.

Fortunately, THIS folder will be allowed 2 game threads.

XT currently has 1 official chat thread and 1 official rand... oh look... a squirrel... om thread.

Pretty much, we have one chat thread, one thread for random messages (pretty much, they are the same thing, but it helps relieve the clutter of all of the posts in one thread), and we get to have two games in this folder picked by the president and vice president that we elect. So far, the candidates for president are Tim and loozer4Jesus. No VP candidates so far...

Really I'm not understanding the problem a lot of users seem to be having with this right now-

To have only one or two random threads is an excellent idea. Take a look at other folders, like women or theology or what have you; Fritz isn't suggesting that you stop having fun in the forums, he's only encouraging that we try a bit of real conversation. You know, with a point, a direction. . . be that fun or serious. There are more things to talk about than usernames, who's king/dutch/princess/prez of whatever, etc. Oh, and "I like cheese." isn't much of a thread starter. Ya know? If everything in the forum just ends up reading like a chat, why not just... use crosswalk chats?

You can discuss any manner of topic that involves, say, opinion, or emotion, or thought of any kind. It's when every thread goes from talking about "issue A" to "ooh, look who's online" "what are you up to?" "haha" "I thought so" "I'm prez of randomvilleton" that things become boring

yeah i see the point in it all and though i liked it better the way it used to be i'm willing to copw with it..one thing i have a problem with is, is that we won't have a girls talk thread, i mean we've always had a girl talk thread! ever since i can remember which was a long time ago and the pillow that's XT tradition too

I agree. The pillow was a great thread. It helped us just let things out that we were dealing with and let others pray for eachother and give advice. The girl talk thread seemed quite popular as well.

ok.. i can undertsnad not having a hundred threads of randomness.. we should have the forum set up ike this

-Random thread
-girl talk
-Boy talk
-Chit-Chat (chit chat is random as far as teen talk goes.... but whatever.)
-Role plays, Games
-prayer requests
-praise reports
-serious topics


or something like that.. that way there is one thread for each... instead of making tons of threads .......or not having the right ones.....

You have some good points here.

I'm looking forward to working with the Prez and V.P. to get some of these worked out.

Um, wow. Everything's like, locked. *SIGH* *reads OP* Ok....so I understand why you deleted all the pointless threads, but the "Girl Talk"? "You're Cool Because", "The Person Beneath Me" ? "The Pillow"?!?! I mean, come ON. These are all good threads. And they weren't "pointless" or "topicless". Don't mind if I point this out...

Bold: *ahem* I believe The Pillow and Girl Talk threads fall under this catagory. We all used the Pillow to discuss issues we were facing, to vent, to get advice from someone, etc. The Girl Talk was almost like a pillow as well, except we could talk about "girly" things, and problems we were having that (for the most part) only girls would understand and be able to give advice about. Neither of them were game/chat threads. Also, if we make the Xtreme Teens folder a place where all we can do is talk about problems, it's going to become a very depressing place to hang out. I mean, we've all got issues, and we're all here to help each other through those issues, but nobody is going to want to come/stay if we sound like a bunch of depressed people all the time. I know I wouldn't...So please, at least consider putting these threads back up.

To all my see-dub friends: It's good to be back. Even if everything is messed up...I missed you guys[:)]
