Well guys, God really got a hold of MY heart last night (another sleepless night), and I've written some more to him. Thank you for the prayers - I need them more than he does, I think.

Hello all!

Can I tell y'all about the cool thing I saw last night? I can? Thanks!

I took the kids to the County Fair and there was this guy there who paints pictures with spray paint. No kidding. Just spray paint and some regular "tools" (like pot lids and straight edges and pieces of poster board) He did each painting in 3 minutes and they were incredible. So incredible that I bought one and, even though it was almost midnight when we got close to home, I stopped on the way and bought a frame for it before I came home. (If you guys knew how much I HATE to shop, especially at Walmart, you'd have some idea of how much I LOVE my painting! )

S'anyway, that was the cool thing. We had a great time all around and came home exhausted!

That's INSANE. Unfortunately, most of the graffiti (which is TECHNICALLY what he's doing, though it's not illegal in his case) "artists" here are a scourge.

From what I've heard, I can't blame you on Walmart....

You can see some of his work (although everything he did last night was even better) at www.myspace.com/moonshineart You have to have an account to see his pics though.

I could have watched for hours. He did one with the flag, the twin towers and a huge eagle's head that I got to see him do and it totally blew me away. I watched the whole thing and couldn't figure out what it was going to be until he held it up and it was amazing!

There are some very creative folk artists around who can do some beautiful things with unusual tools.

Speaking of folk artists - I'm listening to Rich Mulllins right now, and whenever I hear the dulcimer, that's what I think of - the folk artists out there. How I would LOVE to learn to play the dulcimer......

I am always so awed by people who can do that. Given that I don't have an artistic bone in my body. Seeing the creativity God blesses people with (even if they don't acknowledge it) blesses me.

Cammo, what does mean?

That particular sequence of emoticons relates to a state of sheer astonishment.

Or, in laymans terms: omigosh!

That sure is true, Gary. I just don't happen to be one of them.

Don't worry Trish, neither am I.

I can play guitar and (sometimes) sing pretty well, but I can't do other forms of art quite so well...

LOL! Thank you for the translation. I'll have to add that to my 'smace lexicon'!

I do photography - see HERE

Also, I taught myself to play the guitar at a very young age. I also do hair. I have some creative outlets, but my photography is really my passion.

Ok, this is kindof a skill I don't usually advertise, but I have an ability to write poems and song lyrics.

To be honest, the speed with which the song lyrics come is ridiculous. I can lay down a compete set of lyrics in five minutes.

No joke.

The poems tend to take longer.

EDIT: found one of the little buggers!

The dusty cover on the shelf, a memory,
a restatement of what once was, a chance lost
Or was it gained? but never to be seen again.
Listen to the sound of beats, or rythms
Playing silently, without noise or tempers.

But silence deafens all who hear it,
None considered or invested, the dry earth
Begs for rain yet none will come.
Minds confer on a single atom, yet the wider
Plain has not been considered, let alone mentioned.
Reconsider the population in your aggravation.

Shall all play equal part in this melody?
This symphony of colours and lives that
Demands mention of one thing, obtained through
The open curtain, or the closed door,
One or the other. He who understands what
I have said, explain.

That's VERY cool about the lyrics. I couldn't do that to save my life!

Yeah, it's not bad that one, is it?

I knew what I was writing on about at the time (hence the last line) but I've forgotten.

So if anybody thinks they CAN explain this...

Cammo, I'm glad you started this thread.

By way of introduction for those who don't know me, I'm 46 (47 this fall), never married and live in Northern Virginia (aka suburban Washington, DC). I work in administration for an engineering firm and as of this Friday I'll have been posting in the forums for one year.

Okay, that made me laugh! That is exactly what would happen if I ever attempted to write poetry, I'd forget what I wrote it about.

Well I wrote that one... hmm, probably 7 years ago? I was about year 8 in high school (for reference I turned 18 in year 12, you do the math), so about 13, 14?
