auditing

I LOVED auditing!! It was definitely hard, but when you like something you forget about how hard it is.

bzirk -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/4/2006 10:42:15 AM)

I love auditing. Still do it occasionally. The tough thing about auditing is that you're in the class but not really. If the professor is a jerk, that can be a tough spot.

APZR -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/4/2006 12:11:49 PM)

Hardest for me? Public Speaking...I was quite shy.
Have gotten over that though, since I had become the training officer for our fire dept.

Desert_ratt44 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/4/2006 12:27:53 PM)

Statistics. I ended up dropping out of that class. Actually, I ended up dropping our of college after that too!

Analysis of public discourse. Oy.

ChristinaBeana -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/21/2006 4:30:31 AM)

My hardest class- English Syntax and Grammar. I had to take it twice- the first time I had such a low grade but the prof was a decent guy and he let me have an Incomplete. The second time I took it I got a B, and that was only by the grace of God and the professor. (I was actually like 3 points away from a B, but Prof knew how hard I worked in this class, so he just gave me the B).

sunshine22 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/23/2006 12:44:42 PM)

I'm still taking "hard" classes, but during my undergrad, the hardest classes I took was C++ programming language class mainly because the thick accent of the professor i took it with the first time, also he came in there expecting me to already know how to program...uuuhhh...NO. Another hard class was Finance...I learned a lot of "useful" stuff, but my goodnes....

wildcatsare1 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/23/2006 3:30:06 PM)

I'm as old as dirt, so it's been a few years ago[:)], but I absolutely hated algebra, there is no point, it leads to nothing. At least calculas had a beggining and end, and I loved statistics.

stimulus -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (8/24/2006 2:14:32 AM)

Electromagnetic Fields was my hardest class. It wasn't so much because of the material (hard enough, lots of all night group homework sessions), but because I worked for the professor and he talked me and two friends into taking on a special project instead of just doing something a little less challenging. My friends and I didn't sleep much for the last month of the last class, and I remember only taking about two hours off for Thanksgiving. Insane, but we all made As. Microwave Engineering was harder in terms of the material, but easier in terms of workload.

And then after that, I switched late from the electrical engineering program to technical writing, which is a Bachelor's in English. The literature classes were kind of a shock to my system. British literature was the hardest for me, but postmodern literature was the most confusing. [;)]

Stats is something I just don't want to take really. I'll more than likely end up doing it...but I've taken two math classes and I don't want another. I do reaaaaaally well in math, but I hate it more than anything (well, maybe except physics-- physics was fun, but hard, at least for me).

grano.de.la.sal -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/10/2007 11:31:34 AM)

uggggggg!!! college algebra and what's worse - at 7:30 am! needless to say, i dropped that one....[;)]

ta_mosquito -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/10/2007 11:49:11 AM)

Speech.

I loved math and science (I majored in math!), but I never did like speech. I'd rather sit in the desk and listen than stand up front and say something. [8D]

Oh, and Complex Variables (Calculus using "imaginary numbers"). THAT was one stinker of a class! [:'(]

_Cinderella_ -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/10/2007 9:40:05 PM)

I will go with my drafting class. It made me realize I can't be good at everything, and finally gave me perspective on why people can't always get good grades even if they try.

buckifn -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/10/2007 10:47:45 PM)

oddly enough, mine was Music. I actually changed my major from Elem Education because I hated that Music class so much. There was a time when Calculus was very hard for me, but I consulted a tutor, and advanced to the point I later became a tutor for others in that class. I still wonder what it was about Music that made me give up so easy!

Hmm, I find music to be challenging, but not challenging the same way as math and science is... I used to be a voice minor, and I'm a pmed biology major...I changed my minor to chemistry, but not really because music was too hard. I just want to get two separate degrees instead of having the minor. I still take music classes, but they're somehow hard, in different ways. I know a guy that changed from music to biology....I'd think music would be the easier of the two, but I think he began to hate it. Lol.

olddude -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/12/2007 6:48:44 PM)

MATH....hated it then and still do now. Part of it may have been from a brain injury I had when 14. Had a tough time with school after that.

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/14/2007 9:37:34 AM)

Calculus!! Ugh! I'm definitely NOT a math fan but it was required for my architecture courses.

ContentedOne -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/14/2007 5:53:36 PM)

I honestly had a fairly easy time of things in all my classes as I was a non traditional student who was very motivated to do well. However, there was one class I had to drop and it's one that most people would think crazy. It was PIANO!! I've always wanted to learn to play and had the opportunity one semester to put this one hour piano class in my schedule. I was thrilled! Well, the prof was a crazy man! I think four out ofthe six of us dropped it. I didn't and don't have any musical ability, knowledge, or skill. Although this was a class to teach beginning piano, he felt as if we should be able to read music, play some by ear, and have a much stronger background than any of us had.... think he was a bit of a music snob. Still have that desire to learn... maybe one day! [:)]

I have more than enough math credits, but I *might* take calculus anyway. It seems that even though I absolutely abhor math, that I still do well in it.

gentlefriend -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/15/2007 8:13:47 AM)

Calculus 2 was my lowest grade...out of 12 students, only 3 passed. Me thinks the issue was the professor, who actually was put on a probation after my class.

My hardest class to do was speech. I still hate being infront of an audience. Although, I guess you couldn't tell, because I got an A for a grade.[;)]

The same thing happened to my first math teacher...we presume. We don't have an awful lot of math professors, and I heard talk of one of them getting fired. The next thing I know, we couldn't find him anymore-- him nor his office. He was a terrible teacher... He used to confuse us more than help, and for students who started out confused, that probably meant not passing. [8|]

conform4coffee -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/21/2007 2:15:47 AM)

British Literature!

I used to be minoring in English. However, it's classes like these that really made me think twice, ultimately driving me to switch to Journalism.

I could grasp the material. However, the problem was that I not interpreting the material "correctly." Plus, to top it off, the professor would go on some very slanted diatribes, some of them scathingly anti-Christian, as if he had no care of offending certain members of the class. I ended up with a C which is not like me whatsoever. Still, I got through it, and even was humiliated when I tried to contest the grade with the Dean.

conform4coffee -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/21/2007 2:28:51 AM)

I agree with you...algebra is horrible...then again, I am so glad I didn't have to take other harder maths for my communications degree. However, once I began my MBA, I do not look forward to the accounting classes. Ugh!

crimsonfollower -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (1/21/2007 1:17:11 PM)

By far- Calculus I. Loved the prof, but couldn't make any sense out of what he was talking about. The only way I managed the class with a B- was that I got a tutor to help with the homework and then failed most of the tests. I could usually understand the concepts by the end of the chapter, but the tests were mostly application and word problems- something I have never been good at. At any rate, I passed and went on.
The second hardest had to have been Logic. Proofs and all never made any sense what so ever. Still not sure how I walked out of there with a B.
