I'm eager for John to get the photo on the computer. But the hairdresser was having way too much fun styling my hair, not knowing that John needed to get home to his ventilator. Well, he'll have it on my hard-drive tomorrow, and that will be soon enough.

Hi Debbielynn,
I have just read through this thread, and wanted to say, you are a blessing. An awesome example of what our Lord can do for us all.
Will be dropping in from time to time. Have the coffee on. If you don't like coffee, just provide the hot water, even instant coffee tastes good when the conversation is good.

Wow, you did a big color change, Deb. Your hair looked quite dark in your wedding pictures. I've only gone from dark blond to light. I'm glad you like it. The next step for me is shaving my head and buying a NICE wig, but it still seems too extreme to me. Of all my family, I am the one with the worst female pattern baldness. I try not to dwell on it.
Is it still going well with your attendent? Does she prepare meals or do you all just eat frozen dinners? Does your bus service run on weekends? Ours doesn't. But, I can get out on my scooter and go around our little downtown area. That's nice when it's not too hot or too cold and snowy in winter.

Hi all,
Ten months ago, I got blonde highlights. This time, I decided to go further.
The attendents are great! We have one that just does cooking. She'll cook a lot, and then we'll freeze ahead. We also buy frozen dinners. Works out well. The Lord provides all we need!

Glad you dropped by. I mostly drink decaf tea. Caffiene adds to my muscle tension. I still eat small amounts of chocolate, but not much. Other than chocolate, I don't consume caffiene at all. Very occassionally, I'll have decaf coffee--my mother-in-law sometimes brings me Newman's Own decaf from McDonald's, and that's very good! Mostly, though, I drink water, cranberry-tangerine juice, and V-8. Ginger ale is good when I have migraines because it helps the nausea.
What's everyone's favorite meal? Mine is broccoli-cheese stuffed baked potato, salad, and cheesecake for dessert.

My Sister-in-law has advanced MS and is in a motorized wheelchair. The worst battles are not with the treatments but with the HMOs and Medicare bureaucrats. But she remains positive and upbeat and praises God every day, just like you.

Your hair looks great, Deb. When I was in college, I remember an instructor saying Ohio is, like, the 5th worst state for social programs. I believe all these years later, it still must be. I'm on this waiting list and that waiting list. Oh, well, as you say, the Lord provides. Summer is a bit harder, but once school starts, the boys have lunch at school. I can eat lunch with Don for cheap. Dinner is the meal I we usually do Taco Bell, KFC or pizza. Nathaniel or I cook, but no as often as we should.
I'm a coffee drinker. Unless I get careless and driink a huge cup of coffee and a Mountain Dew within a few hours of each other, the caffiene doesn't bother my muscles. My cycle does, however. I've never told a doctor, but I know as sure as I'm beathing hormones changes bring on more tremors. Thank God for baclofen!
My favorite meal depends on my mood. For a couple years, it was pizza. Now, it's Mexican or Chinese. I like taco salad a whole lot, lots of onions. I perfer homemade, but now than Don isn't able to cook, it's Taco Bell.
Well, I'd better go post in my own thread now!

I had chili for lunch...love that too!
Oh, I miss REAL Mexican food! It was easy to get in California, but the stuff these New Englanders call "Mexican" is laughable. No offence, Marsha, but Taco Bell isn't Mexican, either. Gee, I miss California!

Well, we do have an authenic Mexican resturant downtown, but it's expensive for all of us to eat there. I guess it's authenic...it's got all Mexicans working there. I've been once. Taco Bell fits my budget better.
My 15-yr-old, Tim, likes the Chinese Buffet better, so that's where we end up going, if it's just the two of us.

Friday, we crossed a bridge here in town that used to be an overpass over a railroad line. Those trains quit running years ago, so the tracks had been overgrown with weeds, and it looked to us as if a stream had formed. But Friday, we looked down and saw a wide path that was either paved or semi-paved. For years, the town had talked about converting it into a bike path, so John wondered if they'd finally done it. He talked about it all weekend.
So today we we explored it. It's compacted gravel, and goes out to a park that we like to visit. It makes a nice walk, though not really pretty. John enjoyed seeing old railroad tracks and ties. We thought it might come out near the cemetaries on North Street, so I got excited. Instead, it dead-ends at a vacant lot. Still, we enjoyed our little hike.

Between April and July, we were both really sick...especially John. Then we had really crummy weather. So we're trying to squeeze alot in before the evil white stuff starts this winter.
But yes, we're still honeymooning! August 24 will be our fourth anniversary, but that's no reason for the honeymoon to end. We got married a month before my 49th birthday and not quite two weeks before John's 53rd birthday. After waiting that long for marriage, we DESERVE a long honeymoon!

I say you both deserve all the fun times you can get. August 31 will be our 21 anniversary; we were both 32 when we married. It was a miracle we even saw our 18th due to a systemic infection he had.
I will pray that you and John stay healthy. I know post-polio presents its own set of problems as one ages.
I hope you're still at these forums when winter hits. We can console one another when cabin fever sets in. It surely takes away my sense of freedom, even without snow. Windchill sends my body into one big spasam.

By the way, what are your favorite real Mexican foods?
Also, what are some dishes that your attendant makes and freezes?
I AM doing better about cooking dinner...hey, I did it two days in a row, but tonight I'm giving into my flesh and buying out. My boys want Chinese, but I want Subway...that new turkey breast, cucumber and sweet mustard sounds good, with lots of extra veggies.
