It's too bad the baseball exhibit ends September 1, but at least we got to see it!

Did I ever mention I played "wheelchair softball" in high school? Okay, it was closer to T-ball, and we used a basket ball, but it was still loads of fun. It was at the school for orthopedically handicapped children (I went to "regular" school in the mornings and "special" school in the afternoon starting in 7th grade). Softball was the only thing I liked about the special school. I often managed to steal 2nd base, and once I stole home.[:D] Maybe it's not all that impressive now, but I sure enjoyed playing!

DebbieLynne, you are just amazing. What a sweet spirit. I have been reading in your blog and saw the "kidnapped" story. That was such a good story. What fun for you guys.

Wow, that's a piece of sports memorabilia that I'd like to see.

Deb, I'm impressed. I was always the last to be picked in baseball and I'm not sure I ever got to first base. Actually, I'm not sure I ever even hit the ball![8D] I always felt so bad to let my teammates down.

I got my internet back! WHOOHOO!

I'll be back to tell y'all all about it tonight, okay? [8D]

2jsmom -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:12:32 AM)

Welcome back, Darcy!

Darcyjo -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:13:55 AM)

Thanks, hon! I can hardly wait to get back up to speed around here!

And classes start tomorrow......I'm so excited I can barely stand it! My junior year, at the biggest university in the state! [sm=biggrin.gif]

2jsmom -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:21:55 AM)

Sounds very exciting!

Darcyjo -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:29:14 AM)

Yep. [:)]

Classes for the campus as a whole started this morning, but my first ones are tomorrow. So, in a few minutes I will go take the bus down to campus so I can find my way around. I need to walk my route so that I can see how long it's going to take to get from one place to the other. Fifteen credit hours, five classes! I will start my day a little after eight, and finish right after seven at night! [8|]

2jsmom -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:31:03 AM)

Long days!, but I'm sure you can do it. [:D]

Maybe we should all pray for your brain??? lol!!

School here starts on Monday.... I'm excited for my girls to go to school... work will be busy but I think it will be fun to have a bunch of kids on campus.... they say regular enrollment is down but the online classes have doubled. [:D]

Darcyjo -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:33:38 AM)

Yeah. I've done a lot of long days over the years, due to my job, so two long days a week of classes won't be a problem to me. [:)]

cherish405 -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 9:39:51 AM)

They are long days. How are you going to fit non study things in there?

saraimay75 -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 12:59:35 PM)

Five classes...four classes was and pushing it for me.

bride48 -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 5:12:05 PM)

Welcome back, Darcy! I've sure missed you, girl!

John and I visited his mom today. We went to deliver her birthday card, and she happened to be home. It's been a while since we've had opportunity to see her, so it was good.

I'm still trying to think up a good question to ask in here.

armydude -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 6:05:09 PM)

Here's a good one. If someone gave you a million dollars with the strict instructions that you were to give it away to a charity, what charity (charities) would you pick?

Why?

bride48 -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 6:25:52 PM)

Love In Action, an ex-gay ministry for which I worked from 1985 to 1997. Because homosexuality hurts the person with the orientation, as well as everyone who loves that person. Love In Action helped me when I was in love with a man who struggled with homosexuality.

Compassion Internation. Because we sponsor a boy through them, and we see how well they're teaching him about Jesus in addition to giving him practical assistance.

Grace To You. Because MacArthur's expositional teaching and emphasis on the authority of the Bible is really needed in today's church!

2jsmom -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 6:32:47 PM)

There are so many, but I'll pick a few. Voice of the Martyrs, Christian Freedom International, CareNet, Focus on the Family and our local Christian Radio Station.

You forgot to tell why.

2jsmom -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 8:20:37 PM)

Oops, I didn't see that part. VOM and CFI help persecuted Christians. I think it's very important for those of us who aren't being persecuted to help them. CareNet is a pro-life organization. That's an issue that's close to my heart. I think Focus is a great ministry that helps a lot of people. The local radio station has been saying they may have to go off the air if they don't receive more funding. Joe has a radio on all night and I sure don't want him listening to that much secular programing.

Darcyjo -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 8:22:37 PM)

Habitat for Humanity, Voice of the Martyrs, and Samaritan's Purse. All three I trust, all three do serious good for people in real need of help. [:)]

Rachel, I'm a psych major, leaning towards switching to social work. I'm already considering a grad school program that would give me a double Master's.....MSW, MDiv. [:)]

Yeah, don't know how I'm going to do this. But I'm going to. One way or the other.

armydude -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 10:20:53 PM)

Now to answer my own question, since my heart is with the military, I'd probably give part of it to BOSS (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) since it does a lot of good things for single soldiers especially around holiday time.

There are Family Readiness Groups attached to nearly every military unit and they help out the family when the service member is deployed. I'd disperse the rest over several dozen of these.

phosadaud -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/20/2008 10:24:34 PM)

Hmmmm... My local humane society. Our local crisis pregnancy center. "Grace Clinic" - a local medical clinic for those without insurance and with no means.

cherish405 -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/21/2008 10:48:51 AM)

It's just in my heart to help those who don't have the means, or have limited resources. There are so many that I would like to share the money with, but if I had to narrow it down, then Samaritan's Purse, Compassion International, World Vision and Habitat For Humanity.

AlwaysR8chel -> RE: Here Comes The Bride (8/21/2008 10:50:32 AM)

..... Okay.... I would pick Bill Glass Champions for Life... because prison ministry is near and dear to my heart.... I'd hate to see that organization end... so many lives have been changed!

I would also give some to my old church... they are actually supporting orphanages in underdeveloped countries... because I have a heart for people who just don't have a chance.

I think mostly.... I would lean towards smaller organizations...

(Way to be, Darcy!! [:D])
